    BIG CLEANING ON THE 240 GALLON FRESHWATER AQUARIUM! *FX6 cleaning/Dealing with Drop eye*
    In this video I’m doing a big cleaning on my 240 gallon freshwater aquarium. I’m also showing you how I clean my FX6 filters and gravel vacuum this beast! It takes quite a while to do a cleaning like this on these 200 gallon plus aquariums! I perform these massive cleanings once a month so I don’t end up over cleaning the aquarium and killing off too much beneficial bacteria. My Dovii is dealing with a very nasty case of drop eye, so in addition to me doing my monthly massive cleaning I’m trying to provide exemplary water conditions to help assist with the healing process! I know this video is long but let’s see who really supports The Fish Corner! Please make sure you subscribe to the channel and hit the notification bell! Also smash the like button! Thank you all for watching this video on my Big Cleaning on the 240 gallon freshwater aquarium!

    Your videos are super relaxing and informative. To be honest, it's also dope to see a "brother" carving his lane into this demographic on youtube. I keep you and IFG on rotation lol. Before i get jumped on, I DO WATCH PLENTY OF OTHER AQUARIUM CHANNELS OF ALL RACES AND NATIONALITIES!!! You know these comment sections be ready to crucify a brother over anything! lol You have really inspired me to re-start my UA-cam channel and gear it towards aquatics.

    Hey man good video, and I love that large tank, I just upgraded from a 55 to a 75. A little trick that I do when I turn my filter back on is take 2 nets and put them over the outlet so that the net catches all the debris. You might have to use a twist tie to secure it so doesn't fall into tank.
    Thanks for the great video🙏🙏

    I place fine fish net over filter outlet pipe before I turn on the filter, it catches all the junk thats inside the hose and canister filer on initial start.

  • @trickheaddd
    @trickheaddd 2 роки тому +1

    I don’t know if anyone mentioned this to you or not it’s 11 months ago but I just saw this today and what I do to avoid that stuff blowing back into my tank Is I take a poly filter pad and filter floss and put it in a fine Net then I stick over the front of the return before I open the valve . It might drop in a tiny bit when you pick the net out but depending on where you have them set you can point the returns up to do it or if you keep the water level below the returns before filling it up you can put like a little water pitcher in front of it and just catch all of the water that comes out at first you may need to plug it in for a sec to prime it but you can catch the water coming out with a pitcher or bucket then fill the tank after with the new water .

      Thank you for your support! I’m using epsom salt, melafix and bacterial infection remedy… also massive water changes…. I’m sorry to hear your fish passed from it! It’s not contagious, but if the popeye is due to bad water quality then it’ll affect all the inhabitants in the tank. But if it’s from eye injury than it will only affect the one fish.

    So you recommend having more than one filter for filtration? I heard you say you had 3 FX6!!! I have 1 sunsun 304B (525GPH) on my 75G. You think I should throw another one on there? I plan to upgrade to a 180G in the next mo to a year. I’ve got 10fish in there. 4 Tangs. 3 triggers, flame angel, valenti puffer, diamond back goby. None are bigger than 4”. What would you do?

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому +1

      Yea I have 3 but will probably grab a 75 gallon and turn it into a sump…. I think you’re good with the sunsun 304B at 525gph you’re filtering like 7x your aquarium volume! I always over filter when my tank has the potential to be overstocked, my fish get exceptionally large or if I know I plan to upgrade. I had an fx4 and fx6 on my 125 gallon…. But I knew I’d upgrade. And since you plan to upgrade, I would either do like Stein said and buy the fx6 during Black Friday or I would turn that 75 gallon into a sump if you don’t plan on using it in the future.

      @@TheFishCorner what’s your opinion on flow rating as far as the canisters? A lot of people say cut what the advertised flow rate by like 40%. They say the media, and hose length decreases the actual numbers. So like my 525 is really more like 315. I’ve even heard to cut the number they advertise in half.
      I might grab the Fluval. I’m just not a fan of the way the water enters into the canister and the flow pattern but I do see everyone swears by them.
      Thanks man for your advice! Love the videos!!!
      Lastly, have you seen any Clown Tangs yet, and what do you think of the Bluelined Trigger? It’s a show piece for sure!!!

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому +1

      I think all filters end up having a different flow over time, but that’s why I live by having my filters filter at least 3 - 4 times the volume of my tank. I know my fx4 aren’t working as efficient as they were when I first bought them but the fx6’s are still going full strength. I can’t tell a difference with them. I’m definitely a Fluval fan though. Lol
      And thank you bro, I appreciate you! As for the blue lines triggerfish I had one a try or so ago…. He didn’t make it.. I wasn’t quarantining my fish and had a bad case of ich…. As for the clown tang, I haven’t seen one yet. They’re nice though!

      We use one Eheim Professionel 3 1200XL for our 600l tank, with a plenum under substrate with deep substrate and its heavily planted. Nitrates stay solid at 2-5ppm. Filter is cleaned once every 6 months, substrate is never cleaned. We waterchange 25% once every 4 weeks. I recommend looking at Kevin Novak Ph.D. and Father Fish youtube channels for more information!

    It’s not a hack u can plug it in after cleaning the fx6 it will turn itself off and bubble out then it will start it self

    • @TheFishCorner
      @TheFishCorner  3 роки тому

      Anytime you learn how to do something that wasn’t indicated in the directions, it’s a hack. Just because you know the hack doesn’t mean it isn’t one. It’s definitely a hack, good for you for knowing it.
      Based on your comment, you clearly don’t even know what I was referring to as the hack. It wasn’t the fact that it purged the water and started itself, clearly that’s not a hack. It’s the fact that I didn’t put in the full 2 gallons to get the filter jump started, indicated in the directions, yet plugging it in caused it to siphon just enough water to get the filter to auto fill. Pay attention before objecting to something you don’t understand. ✌🏾
