So important to have a "stray meteorite lookout" just in case! kkk, amazing job, it is funny how things end up getting done, and quite fast, albeit in mysterious ways. Loved the respect paid by the crew for the praying to finish, this really shows people's beliefs are universal.
You’re real issue with the large solar assembly will be windage, but the stainless support leg looks like it will be sufficient. I was going to suggest adding some rope anchor points to cope with extreme gales, and maybe add a stiffener to the outer frame cross piece to prevent ripple or flapping, otherwise it looks very good. I have some water catchment channels designed into my 4 panel arrangement (total 1 Kw). These add some more stiffness plus give me 5 sqm of water catchment.
This solar upgrade really is exciting. As a viewer, far and away the most anticipated project completion thus far. I can't wait to see how it all comes together!
I clicked on this fast.. really excited to see you and your beautiful family on a new journey and CANT WAIT to see what Africa and it's amazing countries look like! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ be safe!!!!
Nice going guys. Too bad i could not drive to Phuket to give you a hand. I am in the North East part of Thailand in Sakon Nakhon province. I am still waithing to be vacsin so not allow to travel. Very sad. I am Canadian from Montreal but lived in Vancouver for 7 years before comming to Thailand for good. Good luck on the boat work, you are doing a great job. Cheers from a compatriot
every week I wait for your videos, Ive real got to say you both have the world around is your home, what wonderful things you guys get to do and see and have happen, I wish I was there to help you each week im in orr enjoy take care guys thanks
I love following your travels. Usually watch on TV so cannot comment. I still believe you should have a generator as reduced sunshine can screw a solar panel system. The published output of the panels is based on certain sunlight intensity. Don't be fooled by what the panels can produce as opposed to what they will produce. BTW ... I am not a 'greenie' but very practical. Hello from Ontari-ari-ario. Be safe. Cheers.
Ben, you do know the little screw at the bottom of the saildrive is the drain. Makes a little less mess when draining the oil, then pull the housing and check the seals. And now you're thinking another Victoria know it all...lol Looking forward to your new adventures....love the videos.
Its nice can you fold it down or up so the wind doesn't get under it and blow it off your beautiful boat. I am not a sailor but i do enjoy the adventure you share with the world . Look forward every sunday for your video. Much Love be safe out there please.
That is one serious wing you have going on, my guesstimate would be 70 mph before lift off. Just make sure if it fails it does it safely. I have seen once one of the support legs detach on a similar contraption and bang the sht out of the hull to the point of penetration! It’s better for the panels to be the first thing to go fly off if you are in the middle of the ocean.
Looking good.. I think that solar arch will be fine... I see you put the rite men for the rite job are on it!! I love watching team work!! It's amazing.... The kids are getting so big.. guys I'm excited for ya!!! See ya next week!! ✌🏼💗😊❣️
Hi - Did you know that bifacial solar panels are now available. The undersides of these panels pick up extra solar energy from ground (or in your case, water) reflections. Bifacial panels can produce another 35% of electrical energy over single sided panels. Bifacial panels would be ideal for Nahoa.
What did we miss in between? From adding a solar array, fixing the engine to plop in the water. This was fast. All of this works continues to make to a land dweller. I like the MacGyver mode but I need a fully stocked Home Depot close by. May you all be blessed with protection and adventure filled with joy, peace and calm. Blessings!
My girlfriend and I are currently in the Florida Keys doing a bunch of work on our 45 year old Tayana 37 in preperation to get ourselves out cruising. I understand the stress and work ethic needed to do what you guys do. You inspire me. Keep doing what you guys are doing. P.S. we're also Canadians 😉
Wow, you guys are kickin butt! Amazing what you can get done in some ports. I got a lot of good stuff done when I was in Panama. And a duty free port to boot! I am very curious. What kind of labor charges are you paying there?? They seem like very skilled people. I’m sure its much less than US or Canada. You are getting a first class vessel there. And yes, it is quite a learning process. And the more you do, the more you learn. I rarely had to hire tech or mechanical help but sometimes did. You have to know your limits. I really wish you well with the family and the voyaging. We did it for nearly 30 years, and don’t regret a bit of it!
We call what you said might be a frame the Racking for your panels. Each of your 450 watt panels weigh approx 50 pounds each. I don't have a number on your racking but I'd guess 100-150 pounds for the frame. Love your new AC! Hey if the AC stops working can you still blow air like as a vent to circulate breeze?
Thrilling big steps!! So happy for you to be back in the water with so many jobs behind you! Looking forward to the next adventures and life with such a beautiful family! Congrats on a successful start!!!
Extend your swim platforms like Parlay Revival did. It will add a nice area to swim from and a lot of added buoyancy to counter the weight of the panels.
I'm a little concerned with the size and surface area of the larger solar panels if you should get into a 40+ wind when your crossing the ocean and how much force is going to be transferred to the frame and structure of the array. Hopefully it's got very solid stout material that hold the array support legs to the boat. I would have some 1/4 inch nylon rope handy to tie onto the support base for the solar panels in case they start moving or twisting in high wind and you can tie the ropes to the base to stop any movement. I would have the lines in place so you can tie them to the base before heading out . Trying to secure the lines on the solar panel assembly in a gale if there is a problem would be dangerous if not impossible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. God bless ,stay safe and we wish you good winds and smooth seas.
Sunday morning and starting my day with our favourite family! Ben are you able to show more of the solar….never enough info on that. Still cool at home, odd sunny day…wishing you all the best week ahead…cheers from White Rock BC Canada 🇨🇦!
Wonderfull to see the whole family and very interesting following the upgrade. Just coordinating all changes must be a challenge. In France these changes would take 6 months!
WOW - That was FAST! It seems like just last week that you were leaving the (Vancouver) Island! So smart of you to hire the Phuket Pros to speed up multiple installations! Let there be Air Conditioning! And fair winds. God Bless.
👍 upping your solar & 🍺's Very interesting scaffolding extension 🤔 💡 Air conditioning vent relocation... perfect Sometimes in life you gotta STOP and say (to yourself) WTF !

Exciting journey ahead. You will love our country, South Africa. Excited to see your travels back on the water.
love your "sarcastic" comments, made me lough so much, especially the stray meteorite lookout, you are by far the best on you tube

I love your OSHA approved workplace. Lucky you had that watch for meteors. Could have been disastrous.
Excited to see you back in the water. A viewer from Nanaimo.
Loved the captions when the welding was going on. made me laugh. Hope no rogue meteors we spotted :)
Thrilling big steps!! So happy for you to be back in the water with so many jobs behind you! Looking forward to the next adventures and life with such a beautiful family! Congrats on a successful start!!!

lots work and it is good to see the Indonesian ladder standards for safety being followed, damn AC really helps make the good times roll!
Exciting to see the upgrades...

Thanks for sharing your journey n
Learning to fix things on your boat has probably turned into your way of life.
From a small town in KANSAS. #TeamSeas
I hope uploads continue to come along on the open sea!
I burst out laughing on the notes of installing the solars. Well done. Love the videos. Smooth & happy sailing Nahoa o7
Soo much got done, fantastic!
I hear solar panels work better if they're cool so you'd prefer to have space under the flexible panels for air flow.
Love the solar!!!! Floating power station.
I've been waiting for Nahoa's development to finally come out
can't wait to see you're travels
👍 upping your solar & 🍺's
Very interesting scaffolding extension 🤔 💡
Air conditioning vent relocation... perfect
Sometimes in life you gotta STOP and say (to yourself) WTF !
Thanks for the episode :)
Love this low tide launch..
