Amala is still my favorite Doja album. Planet Her comes in second and Hot Pink last. Amala was really well done and it deserved way more success and recognition than what it received.
Doja has been seriously making music since at least 2012 or 2013. She was a Soundcloud artist for a few years before she got signed. Her first EP, Purr, came out in 2014. You should react to it some time - it's only like four or five songs. It sounds really different from any of her previous three albums. It's way more lo-fi and chill music than what she's putting out now.
My first time hearing this album, It was my daughter who showed me some of her newer songs many months ago And at first I was iffy but now... Doja won me over LOL. funny cus I gave her one chance to convince me and she did a damn good job.
You need to see the latest jungle video, "all of the time" their song is incredible, I can't stop listening it and it just came out a few hours ago haha. 🇲🇽✌🏻
I think all of her projects are about on the same level. Hot Pink is probably my least favorite of the three, and Planet Her has become my favorite. But they’re all overall solid, consistently catchy albums with a handful of bangers. I think some of the production and hooks are a bit lacking on Amala, but I still slightly prefer it to Hot Pink. “Wild Beach”, “Casual”, “Go To Town”, “Body Language”, Morning Light” and “Wine Pon You” have remained some of my favorite songs from her. While seeing you spaz out during songs is really cute. Disclosure did a remix to “Streets” btw.
