I could take a bone from my GSD from day one. I can also pat her when she ate her dinner. There was no way I could do that with the dog I grew up with which was an Australian Cattle Dog. And I got a small scar on my face for proof but it's really not the dogs fault. The GSD is an amazing dog.

So... we have a rescue (Belgian Mal), just over 1y and we can do this (and just about anything else we want) with her no problem.

yup don't do stupid things like this as over time it p[romootes food aggression in this breed of dog, he growls today, tomorrow he might maul you the shit you get away within the 1st 6 month's of life to 3 year of age and older they donot forget your actions eventually they will snap..

Never had that happen and I wouldn't do that with a dog I don't trust. I trust dogs more than people.

@@GermanShepherdWeekly it isn't a matter of trust itis to know what the warning signs are, you act like a kid in front of dog after you start feeding them today the dog growls at you 3-4 years from now that dog either mauls you or 1 of the kids
noting i grew up with shepherd they are loyal, territorial and and and above the age of 3 years they get pissed when you start playing with their food or worse when you start being an arse they will eventually go you once you have lost the doggs respect you lost it until it dies or until you blow its brains out because it will not listen to your commands
