I came across your channel and i am so pleased. I too come from a family who have encouraged and supportive of my cross stitching but dont really understand why i breathe and live for the art of cross stitching. Even better that you stitching samplers mostly from Hands Across the Sea I too mostly stitch these. Your switching is exquisite and I was awestruck. Loved your chat feels thats your talking to me over a cup of tea. Cant wait till your next video. Doreen x
I totally agree with you about the scissors. I have used Gingher, Dovo, Premax, Sajou, Cohana etc but my favorite is the golden forge scissors I bought from Hoop and Frame. Love love them…solid pair of sharp and perfect length scissors. Great video! Always enjoy them.
Wonderful flosstube. I started Kathleen Dempsey 1883 HATS pattern for my blessing sampler. I have a few HATS projects but was hesitant to stitch with 100.3 since I never used silk before but I was really worried for nothing. Your Hannah Campbell is beautiful. I also have that one. Happy Stitching!
I too plan to stitch (which you and I choose many of the same charts) Plumstreets Salem Sampler. I'm in total agreement with you on the Cotton Mother quote and will substitute something else. Old Cotton was all about initiating fear. No need to scare children...or big children. 😊
I learned a lot of interesting things in my research of the Mather family and the Witch Trials in general. Interesting time in our history, for sure. Seems weird to commemorate it in cross stitch but I love it anyway and am sure a lot of people will stitch it this year! Let me know what quote you go with; I'd be interested to know what other people use! Thanks for watching! 😊
@StitchStitchBead I'm a history book nerd, I guess. I'm also a Christian. But mass hysteria and strict religious rules resulted in the death of innocent people. Perhaps thats why we love our reproduction samplers so much. For what we learn...the good and the bad. Feel free to throw your book recommendations out on your videos. I started the same HATS blessing sampler for this month. We stitchers have to stay well rounded! Thanks Audrey for your videos.
Thank you so much for your kind words about Caroline, Aimee, and me! I’m glad you enjoyed spending some time with us- I certainly enjoyed spending the last hour with you. 💚
Thank you! My husband always asks why I watch who I watch and when I sat down to watch your WIP parade it was you who caught me! Love how articulate you are and your tips and tricks from years of stitching are wonderful. Looking forward to more from the Gremlins! 🥰
Loved watching alllll your projects. I want to tackle a Hands Across the Sea patten this month. My LNS has quite a few so maybe it’ll be easier finding one that works with a newbie. I’m sure once I get going I’m going to become an addict ❤❤❤Happy Nee Year Sweetie 🎉
Nicola recommends Charlotte Entwistle for new sampler stitchers and I would add Alice Tippett to that list. Small enough to tackle quickly but with enough color changes and motifs to keep things interesting. But if you find something big and beautiful that you love, don't shy away from it! HATS charts are lovely. Happy New Year and very happy stitching to you! 🥰
Happy New Year! Your work is beautiful. Love everything you showed. Don’t sweat the pink in the rose. You will be the only one who knows it is there. Enjoy all of your new starts 😊
Audrey, wow here we are in 2025 …I will be excited to see how you like the new rabbit hole of embroidery…the book looks amazing. Lovely gift from a new friend ❣️. Love your framed pieces I’m sure they look stunningly beautiful on your walls. Kudos to Rupert! How special to have him involved…your stitching on Neeltje Cornelia van Buren is simply incredible what a packed border sampler. I have used Hoop & Frame never disappoint….love your pear stitch I enjoy painter’s thread too..I was laughing out loud at your description of watching Thread Gremlins especially when Ryan gets involved what a hoot 😂 wishing you all the best with your stitching enjoy have fun…hey Thanks for mention so humbling….congrats on all new subscribers! See you next time, 🕊️L
Happy New Year Audrey! Thank you for another entertaining and inspiring video. I love hearing your stories and analysis behind your pieces and your new framed pieces are works of art -- WOW! Happy Stitching -Carolyn
Happy New Year Audrey. Beautiful finishes and loved hearing your plans. I had linen that disappeared en route a year ago. The dyer was going to send me more and then it finally showed up after traveling who knows where. I think your idea to make the trip to Batavia is wise!
I'm supposed to stitch from stash this year, and every time I see one of your videos I just want to buy and stitch more HATS designs! Thank you for the stitchy inspiration and happy new year!
I’m definitely stitching more from stash this year but I understand! And Nicola is always releasing another fabulous new sampler before I can get done with what I’m already working on! 😅
The start on Anne is beautiful. I agree with your son about the frame on Hannah Campbell. The color showcases the stitching and the subtle detail along the edge is enhancing not distracting. The frame on Maria Ewin is gorgeous as well. The thread colors are so striking. You are such a fast stitcher. Thank you for the videos.
Audrey - once again, fabulous stitches! I finished Lucy Calcutt 1825 in 2024 and she is one of my favorites! And Ann Tong Uffindell is on the list to start & finish in 2025! Look forward to your next flosstube!
I think I’ve finally made a decision on the Calcutts so I can order fabric and floss and get started! But dying to start Isabella Uffindell as well…and a million other samplers 😅
She is! But Nicola has so many (I'm sure wonderful) releases planned over the next couple of years, we can't stitch everything anyway! I'd have to live to be 500!!
That is so true. There are so many beautiful stitches in the meantime. ❤️ Ellen Barber 1895 will be my first HATS and I'm so happy! ❤️ Thank you for sharing your lovely stitches. I am a new subscriber. ❤️ @StitchStitchBead
Thanks for another great video. Love seeing all your progress and beautiful stitching. I’m also working Isabella Uffindell. I’ve stitched Ann. I will say they are very different size wise….i also wanted to stitch them on the same fabric and ended up going up a count for Isabella as I wanted them to be closer to the same size when framing. And for stash purposes Fat Quarter Shop has the larger oval hoops in stock!!! Happy stitching!!
I looked at the Uffindell sisters and know that Isabella is noticeably longer but I really prefer to stitch on 45 count so I'll use that same count for both sisters. I love that they share a few similar elements so even though they're different sizes they still look like a pair. 😊 And thanks for the tip about FQS! I'll check it out! Happy New Year!
Great video! I still haven’t started Maria Ewin. Torn between her and kitting up Elizabeth Furniss. Like I need another huge project. Love all your shares. Happy New Year!
Oh Audrey-you are aiding and abetting!😉😂😂 Seeing your framed pieces was inspiring. I already have 2025 plans for Maria Ewin but her friend Anne Thomas may join in the fun-she is already waiting fully kitted after-all! Happy New Year!
Maria Ewin is my favorite finish so far but I bet Anne Thomas will top the list when she's finally done! Loving her so far! What fabrics and flosses are you going to use? I always love picking fabric from my stash for a new start! Very happy stitching to you!
Wow wow wow your AnneThomas is beautiful, I stitched her and loved every minute. The linen is a great colour. Your Maria Erwin is beautiful , might have to get that one. I started Hannah Campbell and will get the soie surfine , thank you for the tip.
Maria Ewin was a joy to stitch and I would definitely recommend her. Hannah Campbell is a wonderful challenge, we'll say, but well worth it! Thanks so much for watching! Happy stitching! 😊
I started Anne Thomas in December as well using the Vicki Clayton silks on 46ct Atelier by Number12StitchCo, a lighter fabric but colours are showing up. Absolutely love this stitch, been looking at it for years. The model stitcher Leona is in my Guild so is a handy resource for questions. Love your fabric choice. Colours pop. Talking of Surfine, I've stitched AKGIT on 53/63 with Surfine and didn't have any dramas with it. At first some of the pin stitch starts were dodgy but after so many thread starts I got it down to a t.
So glad you started Anne as well! She's such a beauty. I stitched Carmelle Azzopardi with surfine and made a point on that project to keep my back neat and tidy and used a lot of pin stitches. It worked but I just prefer the boldness of 100.3. Glad to have surfine, though, because it is an amazing thread! Thank you so much for watching and very happy stitching on Anne and your other projects! 😊
Thanks for another wonderful video! I plan on starting Isabella Uffindell in March on my daughter's birthday, who is named Isabella. I appreciate your thoughtfulness when deciding what quotes to stitch on your samplers. ❤❤❤
Great flosstube episode❤ beautiful progress on Anne Thomas… I am stitching on mine at this moment …. Wishing you a Happy New Year and lots of stitching 😉🪡🧵
Your framed pieces are perfect! I love all the frames you chose. I’ve been stitching my blessing sampler with soie surfine. Not gonna lie - it’s been a struggle and I’m glad the piece is finished. I think soie surfine isn’t for ham-fisted me.😅 Happy to get back to lovely Rosa Grommett that we got at Hobby House retreat. I’m using 100.3 on that and really enjoying it. I’m with you - could just stitch HATS all the time and be happy.
HATS is definitely my desert island designer and I can't wait to see what's in that next Red Box! But I have so much already and hoping to start Rosa Grommett some time this year as I see more photos of her in progress popping up...If you're going to SS, have a wonderful time! 🥰
I also stitch Elizabeth Bradley designs too. In one of her books she provided DMC conversions for the four season designs that are beautiful - if you don’t have to stitch the background , they are not so mammoth! Happy stitching!
What a great video. Just catching up on videos and your last video was great too. Anne Thomas is stunning and the linen is perfect. I like the frames you chose for your projects. Just a thought but Vikki Clayton has a conversion for Lucy Calcutt but I am sure someone can do a conversion for you. Love your 2025 plans! Enjoy your stitching
Thanks for watching and for your kind comments! The conversion I was thinking of for Lucy Calcutt was one to 100.3s because I enjoy using that silk more than Soie D'Alger and my understanding is that Vikki dyes D'Alger or something very much like it. I am planning to stick to solid colors for Lucy as I want that pop, especially with the pinks! I'll share my choices when I finally get it all kitted up! 😊 Happy stitching!
Hi! I found your channel through Jackie at Comfort Stitching, and I guess I am evolving backwards as a stitcher 😅, I've been at this since I was a kid in the 70s, and in the 90s and early 2000s, I was way into the whole historical samplers thing, and a little primitive stuff. During those years I turned my nose up to cross stitch kits, I'm ashamed to say I was rather a snob about my supplies and what I stitched. Then I put it down for 10+ years, and now I have ZERO interest, at least right now, to stitch a sampler! I'm currently obsessed with Dimensions (the old ones) Merejka, Bucilla, Riolis, oh my goodness there are some gorgeous kits out there! But funny enough I like watching other stitchers do samplers...so strange, huh? I have noticed most people go the other way, they start with kits and "graduate" to "serious" stitching like samplers. Am I devolving?? Maybe ya'll will help me fall back in love with historical samplers and all those specialty stitches again. I think I burnt myself out 20 years ago on those. I have some half-finished ones from that era I really should finish before I leave this world. I have the cover sampler from "The Proper Stitch" book about 2/3 completed. It hasn't been touched since probably 1998, and I think I have forgotten how to do most of the stitches in it. I need a heavy refresher and some encouragement. At the end you mentioned Thread Gremlins. I watched one and turned it off before it was over. Way too much vocal fry from that one girl, I couldn't take it. I gravitate towards creators who have pleasant voices and speak like grownups! I subscribed to you, so that should tell you I didn't find any of those irritations here! 😅 Thank you for the effort it takes to put these videos out, the free entertainment is much appreciated.
You certainly aren't "devolving" but simply evolving. I don't think people should talk about graduating to different projects in regards to their style or taste but perhaps only in the level of difficulty (specialty stitches, anyone?) or size. It's better that you have recognized a change in your taste and are stitching things you're excited about! As for the unfinished pieces you have, maybe take them out every once in a while just to remind yourself of what you've done even if you don't get back to them. Very happy stitching to you and thank you for watching! 😊
Great Flosstube! ❤ I stitched Mary Hillier on 56, too. And if I remember correctly, I noticed the fabric size for 56 was listed as larger than 46. 🤔 Back in the ‘90’s, I was ALL about the Elizabeth Bradley’s. (Yeah, I’m old). I bought them as kits and I think you still can get them in kit form online. I think she has small kits available and they’re great because the canvas is already stamped with the pattern and they’re great include plenty of wools. I’m off to try Thread Gremlins…..Happy 2025!
Thanks, Karen! I will look into the Elizabeth Bradley kits...it would be lovely to have pre-stamped canvas for a newbie. Hope you have a great new year too! 🥰
Loved this video, thank you for sharing. I’m really only just getting started in the world of antique reproduction samplers and have just started HATS Louisa Coulimore which is very similar to the Bristol sampler you have started, hope you enjoy yours. 💗
Louisa is brilliant! Prepare yourself for total obsession with reproduction samplers...it's a wonderful addiction! 😂 Thank you so much for watching! Happy stitching! ❤️
Your Hannah Campbell is stun..ning! I think a more elaborate frame would take away from the stitching. On your recommendation, I ordered the Art Bin for my 100.3s. I really like it. Thanks!
Ok I got my Hardwicke manor oval 9 x 5 oval hoop from Needle Point Joint in Utah. They were very helpful. I just checked and their site says they have them in stock. I love this size. Hope this helps. Thanks for your great videos!
Hi, Audrey! I’m late!!! But I’m here at last…☺️ I’m not gonna lie, Anne Thomas is not my jam…but when you held up that gorgeous corner, on that fabulous Mason Linen, with the colors jumping off the fabric, I was blown away! And I nerdishly loved your explanation of the 100.3 thread colors! 😂 Thank you for that very interesting tidbit! It actually makes me happy to know that you now have both the light and dark color options for your project! 😂 I look forward to seeing more progress on her. Thank you for showing the tiny detail of your signature again…I love it. Your framed pieces are stunning. Oh, and you forgot to say what Rupert was going to do with that precious fabric! Thank you so much for another very enjoyable visit! Have a great weekend! OH MY GOODNESS!!! I just heard you mention my name, along with Lanelle! You are so kind, thank you very much!!! ☺️💕 Meline
Well I think Rupert will be making another 3 Yard Quilt with my mom. He's already made a couple and I think they'll start his next project soon. Just depends on when he gets the itch to start. I just couldn't pass up that Terry Runyan fabric! Thank you for your kind comments; I'm so glad you enjoyed! Hope to have another video out by the beginning of next month. Talk to you then! 🥰
First time viewer. Greetings from Matamata New Zealand. Thoroughly enjoyed your video and oh my goodness what fabulous projects. Looking forward to your next video
I was wondering if you finished Eveline Hotchkiss, Cross Stitch Antiques. Would love to see it whether finished or not. I thought the colors were fabulous even with the few changes you made. Happy New Year!
Sadly, I have not finished Emeline Hotchkiss. I talked with Kim (fellow SAL host) about her recently and neither of us, though we love her, are in any hurry to finish her. When I've made some progress I will be sure to pull her out, though! Probably sometime within the next couple of months. Thanks for asking! Happy stitching! 😊
I really enjoy your flosstubes. Your finishes are gorgeous. You are so embedded in learning to improve your stitching. As a stitcher for 50 years, I enjoy watching your journey. I am anxious to hear the quote you are subbing on Salem Sampler. I have also read literature. While I find the verse thoughtful and truthful, I find it creepy to be quoting C Mather. Will you share the quote you will sub?
Thank you! In talking about the Salem Sampler, I suggested a quote by Thomas Maule rather than the one by Cotton Mather as charted, but of course I will be sure to share what I finally put in that space. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comments! Happy new year! 😊
Hi Audrey! I love your floss tubes - so entertaining! I’m sure you’ve told the answer to my question previously but I’m new to collecting some of the Soie Gobelins (thanks to Laura!) and I need to store them. What are the boxes that you showed your 100.3’s in and where can I get some? Thanks so much and I think I’m looking forward to meeting you at Sampler Symposium? I hope I got that right… anyway, thanks so much!
Hi, Lauri! I use Gutermann boxes (Amazon has a few different sizes) and they are wonderful for kitting up 100.3s for different projects. And yes, what an enabler our Laura is 😂 Unfortunately I am not going to SS this year as I was hoping to (and did!) get into Nicola Parkman's retreat in England in October. But I'd love to go back to the Attic someday! Hopefully soon! Enjoy SS! It's awesome! 😊
I came across your channel and i am so pleased. I too come from a family who have encouraged and supportive of my cross stitching but dont really understand why i breathe and live for the art of cross stitching. Loved your chat feels thats your talking to me over a cup of tea. Cant wait till your next video. Doreen x
So wonderful you stopped by! Yes, I love HATS charts. They are my favorite! Wonderful "chatting" with you 😉 Talk to you next in a few weeks! 😊
Happy New Year Audrey!! Wow! Hannah is my favourite - what a fabulous first HATS chart you chose! Well done Rupert - the frame is PERFECT!!
Rupert's got a good eye! 😊 And Happy New Year to you as well! See you THIS year! 🥳
Thank you so much! Yes, the Golden Forge are my go-to, next to me right now! Thank you for watching 🥰 Happy 2025!
Kathleen Dempsey is a beautiful sampler! Perfect for a Blessing Sampler and for trying 100.3s. 😊 Thanks so much for watching! Happy New Year!
You have so much information in your videos. I may have to watch several times.
Please let me know if you have questions about anything specific! Thanks for watching! 😊

Another great video! Rupert’s choice of frame was perfect for that piece. It really accentuates the border.

So glad you enjoyed! Happy New Year! 😊

You do not need to apologize for wrinkle fabric nor for making noise. Neither is unrespectful.

Audrey...delightful posting...enjoyed all your stitching...your framed projects were awesome...best wishes ❤
Thank you, Loretta! Happy New Year! 🥳
Wow beautiful projects all of them. And thank you for recommending hoop and frame will be checking them out.
Wonderful! Hope you find something you like. I love perusing their products. Thanks for watching! 😊
I think your sons frame choice is wonderful ❤ to me it looks amazing together
Thank you so much! 😊
Wonderful flosstube video. Love your finishes!!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Happy New Year Audrey!
A very Happy New Year to you as well! 🥰
I always get so excited when I see you've posted a new video! Tip: get your rotary cutter/mat from JoAnn or HL - they almost always have a good sale.
Thanks so much for watching and for the tip! Very new to all things quilting. Happy stitching! 😊
@StitchStitchBead Thank you for the kind words!
❤❤❤ Hannah Campbell! She is so gorgeous!
Most importantly, she's done 😂 Thanks for watching!
Happy New Year, Audrey - very nice video - you are quite entertaining yourself, you know!
Thank you, Emily! I try! Happy New Year to you as well 🥳
Loved this video, thank you for sharing.
Thanks!
I’m so glad the ArtBins are working out for you! It’s great to have everything in one place and well organized. Happy stitching!
Ok I got my Hardwicke manor oval 9 x 5 oval hoop from Needle Point Joint in Utah. They were very helpful. I just checked and their site says they have them in stock. I love this size. Hope this helps. Thanks for your great videos!
Thank you for the tip! And glad you enjoyed the video. Happy New Year! 😊
Hi, Audrey!
Meline
Well I think Rupert will be making another 3 Yard Quilt with my mom. He's already made a couple and I think they'll start his next project soon. Just depends on when he gets the itch to start. I just couldn't pass up that Terry Runyan fabric! Thank you for your kind comments; I'm so glad you enjoyed! Hope to have another video out by the beginning of next month. Talk to you then! 🥰
@ 🩷👍🏼
First time viewer. Greetings from Matamata New Zealand. Thoroughly enjoyed your video and oh my goodness what fabulous projects. Looking forward to your next video
Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by! Expect my next in a few weeks. Happy stitching! 😊
Where did you get the clear boxes that holds your 100.3 silks?
They are Gutermann boxes and I purchased them from Amazon. 😊
Absolutely love your Flosstubes! Where did you get the container that hold 10 100.3 spools?
Thank you! They are Gutermann spool boxes and come in a few different sizes. You can purchase them from Amazon. 😊
Happy New Year! I love the boxes you have your 100/3 silks in - where did you get them?
They are Gutermann spool boxes and I purchased mine from Amazon. I love them! Happy stitching! 😊
