Chunithm is finally starting to make its way to Round 1's in the US!!!!! I lived in Japan for a while and played Chunithm whenever I had time, here is some info for how player rating works for anyone curious Your player rating is determind by: (your top 30 plays of all time + your top 10 plays of your 30 most recent plays) divided by 40 This is why you can see your rating drop if you had a high rating play on your 30th most recent play and get a play rating that is lower than the play mentioned before. the play rating for charts is set up like this: SS(points 1,000,000-1,4,999) = Chart difficulty rating + 1.0 SS+(points 1,005,000-1,007,499) = Chart difficulty rating +1.5 SSS(1,007,500-1,010,000) = Chart difficulty rating +2.0 So a score of 1,000,000 on a chart difficulty 13.0 will net you a play rating of 14.0 there is a decimal value to chart difficulties that is just not shown on screen, for example a chart difficulty of 12.0-12.5 is just shown as a 12 and 12.6-12.9 shows in game as a 12+. Other difficulty numbers shown in game are set up the same way such as 14, 13+, 11, etc. So a 1,005,000 score on a 13.7 will give you a play rating of 15.2. There is a really handy website called chunirec that shows you all of the plays that contribute to your player rating and the exact ratings you earned on each play based on your score if you connect your CHUNITHM-NET account. I hope this info helps clear up some mysteries around player rating!
I played this game in a visit to Japan in 2016 and I fell in love with the game. Every year I’m always checking if it’s ever going to come to the USA. Fingers Crossed!!!
Thank you, that makes my day! I've been pretty busy since I just had my last year of college, but I'm going to start being more active. Now that I've graduated, I have more time to work on some of the videos I've been wanting to make.
Someone has already said this but yes, Chunithm has made its way into US Round 1 locations. However, most (I'm unsure if all) US locations have the IC card/Online data system offline. This was the case for San Jose, CA's location. You could only choose guest play and as far as I know, there weren't as many songs on there as the cabinets local cons used (i.e. FanimeCon, Crunchyroll Expo, etc)
It's good to know that they're at least available to play in that case. I remember being pretty disappointed when the Round1 I visited a few years ago had the MaiMai machines offline though, it definitely feels like a whole new game when you can progress your account, and I want people to be able to experience that, too.
@@TheBranMan Indeed. The online + progression experience is the main reason I keep coming back to play often (not so much as a routine). I've been at it for 4 years with Project DIVA Arcade. Been also having a kick at Groove Coaster and WACCA (which the latter unfortunately went offline permanently last month 😔) now that I have a NESiCA and a second Aime card.
Hey dude, it defintinely sucks, but a load of rhythm games have been popping up in independent arcades over the past 5 years. We have Chunithm in the UK now and I'm sure more locations will have it soon. I love Chunithm so much and glad I don't have to travel to Japan to play anymore lol
Woah, that's awesome! I'm really jealous of you! Out of curiosity, do you know if the cabinets in the UK are connected to the internet? It'd be incredible if the Aime Card scanners worked and you could save your progress like you can on the Japanese cabs.
i just discovered chunithm less than 2 months ago at a local arcade near me (in MA) and ive been hooked since the second i sat at that machine. it brings me so much serotonin, i could easily sit there and play for hours. i recently bought an amie card so i can keep my progress and its genuinely such a fun time. im thankful i have access to this beautiful game but i wish it was more widespread amongst arcades. when i say ive dreamt about this arcade game, and i hug it goodbye when i have to go shows how addicting it is. i plan on having my own chunithm cabinet some day when i own my own house ♥️
Have been playing chunithm at my Round1 in Oregon! Super fun, the difference between level 2 and 3 difficulties are insane. The last session I played I feel like I got better and am excited to go back
I was digging for a certain chart in Chunithm (which i failed to find since it was in Japanese) but I found this instead! I'm glad more people like you are taking notice of Japan's awesome arcade rhythm games like Chunithm. Good video! Are you planning to do mobile rhythm games as well?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've always loved Japanese rhythm games since playing DDR as a kid, so when I studied abroad in Japan, I had a whole new world of rhythm games open to me. I wanted to share that excitement with the English-speaking side of the internet since a lot of Japanese rhythm games are pretty obscure here. As for mobile games, it's something I'm interested in now that you mention it, but I'm not too familiar with how I'd do screen capture on there. There are a lot of rhythm games there (good and bad) that I think would be fun to look at. Do you have any experience with screen capture on mobile? Either way, thank you for the idea!
i know this video is a year old, but for anyone that’s reading this and doesn’t already know, there are two Chunithm machines in EXCELLENT condition at the Round 1 arcade in Hicksville, NY (on Long Island)…i just played both Chunithm and SDVX:EG for the very first time today and they were SO much fun 🤩
Chunithm Super Star is coming out, it will be international :) Don’t know when or if it’s coming to America, because of Covid it might be delayed. But certain Asian countries already have Super Star, so it might come one day
the title for trapped rhythm game should be chuunithm‘s “sister game” ongeki it’s great to be able to play chuunithm outside of japan, I got into chuunithm SUN in japan and when I came back I was really excited to find that Thailand had _one_ place with chuunithm to answer what the heck chuunithm means it’s just a mashed word between chuunibyou(middle school 2 year syndrome; cringe kid) and rhythm absolutely love Sega’s gekichumai series; the go-to arcade games ever
I know im a year late to finding this video, but i did want to mention that in the last month my local Round1 (Santa Ana, CA) has this game and ive been loving it!!
CHUNITHM IS NOW COMING TO ASIA! CHUNITHM SUPER STAR is coming to some Asian countries and Australia. Still no American release tho like maimai DX International.
I heard about that! I'm very excited for those countries it'll be released in. Hopefully Chunithm experiences the same success there that it did in Japan so that Sega can build more confidence in international markets for their arcade games.
Chunithm is great, but until Sega decides it's worth it to setup and maintain servers here in the US, it won't have any legs to stand on here compared to Konami's BEMANI lineup that's mostly supported here. I'll keep dropping credits into the Paradise Lost machine that's at my Round 1, but no one will stick with it without the full song list or the unlock system that's in the latest versions.
Chunithm is in Round 1, Concord CA now as of a few days ago. Hopefull you will see it near you. It has not been localized but you NiMo or Bana passes do work.
Played this alot and a entire new take on the keyboard beat games but some how hit, the banner system had me coming back just to get more anime. Why do you use the gloves?
I personally use gloves as I feel like playing on harder difficulties can start to hurt my hands when I slide across the keys. I saw a lot of Japanese players using gloves, so I decided to do the same and it lets me play for much longer.
I enjoy IIDX but I've never really had the opportunity to play it consistently and get good since the arcade closest to me didn't have a cabinet. I've heard some of the music through Sound Voltex and Osu though, and it's pretty fantastic
I have to ask... I'm trying to find the same kind of arcade cabinet as this, but it focuses only on the keys part. One of the few songs I believe was Saika and Holy Knight from Cytus, I believe, and it exists in 2012-2014... or at least that was the time I played the game. Another subject... Was it "Nostalgia"? I think it's a BEMANI game, and it is basically just a keyboard. Not sure about the song selection though, as I haven't played it much.
It is not that. XD It very similar to Chunithm almost identical arcade cabinets, but without the hovering mechanics. I think it has only 6-8 keys at most like Muzibox DJ.
@@yoshisarethebomb I've played that as well and it's not DJ Max. Also, I think it's not a collab with cytus at all? The song was just popular at that time. The aracade machine is very identical to Chunithm. You can say, they just added the hand sensor as an upyrade. XD Hmm... I remember there is a hidden cosmetic setting that changes the skin aesthetic of the game. I had to search this info just to figure it out that it can happen. Therefore, I know that this machine exist. Oh, I think the machine is not translated at all, so its in japanese. But, I played it outside of Japan... specifically Philippines.
