The best remakes in the series.
Also the best games in the series.
Yup. Wish they would go back to the sprite based games for the mainline games and leave the 3D games for the side games. Scarlet & Violet are alright but games just suck to play on the switch. At least with 2D the Switch could actually run it with a good experience
@@MIBxSpartan Ageee completely, the new games look too styalised and simple at least for me. There's something about: these games that adds so much detail and spirit when playing them
@@al-hilalgames5708 This. There has not been a pokemon game that has surpassed Soul Silver/Heart Gold.
About silver, you can fight him in Kanto in i think mt moon. He does change his ways of treating pokemon as his golbat evolves into a crobat, which is a friendship evolution.
That’s good to hear! 👍
And the best part is, after you have beaten him in Kanto for the final time. You can return to the dragon's den to fight a double battle with him against Lance and Clair
This game is fantastic. I know it has several flaws like level issues later in the game, HMs, Lance w 3 Dragonites etc, but it just feels like Pokémon. This is how you make a remake. Also allowing Gen 3-4 Pokémon along with taking the best parts of Crystal and putting it in both games. Like you said, catching both box art legendaries is how it should be in remakes. Meanwhile BDSP didn’t even include platinum content 🤦♂️
I think what really hurt BDSP was the fact that it was outsourced. I also do wonder if they didn’t let them go all out with those remakes because of PLA coming out around the same time. Although not a remake itself, it really did outshine BDSP in my opinion.
I forgive the lances dragonites because it shows his improvement since red/blue. So it's a good continuity thing but it does make the battle a little dull.
@@SigsangGaming I was always under the impression that the only reason bdsp exist was because gamefreak wanted to see weither or not they should make pokemon open world or not, compare bdsp sales to pla sales
HGSS were when GameFreak got their formula on how a remake should have. It gets the core of what the original game got, but also doesn't afraid to give new things here and there. And Flat Battle feature in Pokemon centre (where both player's Pokemon leveled to 50 when battling) are staples for the series now, and it cuts tiresome grinding for multiplayer battle
Well said! I never played the original Gen 2 games, but was very impressed with what this game had to offer.
omega ruby and Alpha sapphire were the best remakes ever.
@@unbound2424 I remember enjoying those games too! I wanna go back and replay them soon.
I can see an underated channel right here
Haha, thank you! 😄
My first and favorite of the series. I had only ever been an satellite fan of the series when I was much younger, but never enough to collect cards, buy merch, or even pick up any of the games (didn't help I didn't have a single Nintendo console until I got a gamecube six or so years ago).
Then, a friend of mine convinced me to not only get a 3DS, but also start my Pokemon journey. I decided with Soul Silver, despite it's hefty price point. I fell in love with it, despite certain small nit-picks, and despite progressing to Black. Black 2, and most recently X, it's still my favorite.
It also helps that Lugia is my favorite pokemon, full stop. I'd grow to have other favorites, especially in that game., but none ever top the great swan-orca Guardian and mother of the ocean.
I think Lugia is great as well! I'd say they're in my top 5 legendary Pokémon.
@@SigsangGaming I honestly haven't been with the games for very long (literally a handful of years), so I'm slowly getting to know some of the other pokemon gens and their line-ups.
But, Lugia, at least for me, is a LONG time favorite, ever since the dawn of the new millennium, when the second Pokemon movie came out.
Ahh, good times...
Best video game remake of all time
awesome video man! very high quality, you deserve more subs
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback! 🙌
Silver doesn't mean to be a jerk! His dad got trounced by a 10 year old and went into hiding! Anyone would be upset with that!
Thats some good content right here. Also you have very nice voice. I hope your channel blows up at some point. You deserve it.
Thank you for the kind words! 😄
I think The reason I can Definitively call HGSS the best game in the mainseries (tied with B2W2) is the tone it sets for the game. HGSS feels like what if you were to combine pokemon, animal crossing and mario party all in one. The game actively encourages you to play it long term compared to many other games in the series. There is also a very high attention to detail as far as both the UI and the gameplay goes. The touchscreen also makes playing the game a lot more convenient
It's a major step up from the GBA games, in my opinion. As much as I love the OG Gen 3 games, this felt so much more refined while still keeping a lot of the charm.
Later in the game Silver does come to love his pokemon and in the manga there is a lot of time given to explaining his attitude. Silver has been my favourite since it's first iteration but SoulSilver was just such a wonderful remake, it still had some of the flaws of the original but improved on everything else.
That's awesome that there's further context on his character!
And yes HGSS are they best that along with platinum make gen 4 my favorite Generation and arguably the best
BRO!!!! GO TO MT SILVER!!!!!
You battle silver in the postgame at Mt Moon and what he says about pokemon, basically he's changed his mindset. Then also theres a celebi time traveling event where you can see Giovanni is Silvers father and explains why silver is the way he was. Also you see where Giovanni was hiding all this time... in a cave behind a waterfall. Then there’s a spiky pichu event at the ilex forest. And also if you take arceus to the ruins of alph you open a door to the sinjoh ruins where you can get a dialoga palkia or giratina egg you can do this twice one with a regular arceus and 2nd with an event gift arceus
Dang, didn’t know a lot of this! I’m doing another playthrough of SoulSilver right now, so I’ll definitely be doing more postgame stuff.
Thank you for warning about spoilers. It may not seem like a lot of people care, but some actually do. Only recently did I finish gen 2, so its appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll continue to warn people in the future about potential spoilers.
Loved the original, and loved the remake. Honestly, I didn't notice any of the flaws until I looked at people's opinions on the game. Ehh still not an issue for me.
That’s how I feel about most games I like. I try not to get hung up on little issues and let it ruin my experience. Then again, I’m not that picky 😅
This is the first Pokémon game I've ever played. Yeah, I came in late.
Someone told me I was late to the series even though I started with Gen 3 😅 I personally don't mind hopping into a franchise later than others.
It felt weird hearing someone say "I didn't know there was Kanto as well" as it's as much as a spoiler as who's Luke Skywalker's father...
But then... He never mentioned Red even once... He really doesn't know, does he?
Wait… Luke has a DAD? 🤨 For real though, I knew about Red going into it, but it’s crazy how I had never heard about Kanto getting unlocked in the post game. A part of that is because I never played the OG Gen 2 games. It really was a blind playthrough 😅
One of my favorite games of all time and the pinnacle of the Pokemon series imo
Orange Crush has spoken! 🗣
soul silver makes me feel young again
Currently playing through for the first time and there are a few flaws not talked much about that annoy me.
1.) The movement seems slow. Even if I’m using the running shoes. The bike does not have good control and you can’t switch to a more controllable bike. Emerald is peak movement to me. It’s fast yet fluid.
2.) Grinding is prevalent in all games so that’s not the issue, but the time it takes for the sprites to move, the Pokémon to come out, the time on the health bar all seems slower lol even with battle animations off. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if you weren’t forced to grind so much.
Aforementioned, emerald was so fluid and my definition of peak Pokemon, so maybe I’m biased lol but still, it should be mentioned.
Still the best games of the franchise (love Black 2 though, but gotta go with HG/SS). Btw thnk for not adding bad cringe jokes. Ah yes Karen and her double teaming Umbreon. Im still transfering mons from my Pl/D games, so satisfying seeing Dialga & Giratina.
In my 31 yo opinion, it's just a good Remake of my favorite game of all time, Gold. It's, again, a good Remake, but I spent at least 6 times the time with the original ones. Still good.
Good review and nice editing, but these are easily the most overrated Pokemon games
You got to avoid the terrible level curve because your team was your starter, early encounters in Geodude and Mareep, Red Gyarados and Lugia. Try catching and using any regular Pokemon after the 4th gym, and you'll notice how underleveled it is and how much you'll have to grind it up
You mentioned Johto was fun to explore, but you'll realize how pointless the optional dungeons are when you obtain nothing of substance from them. That's most apparent by Mt Mortar where you'll get a severely underleveled Tyrogue after the 8th gym and the Ruins of Alph where there's... nothing
Kanto must've been mind blowing for sure, but there has to be a reason why you didn't explore it fully. Subconsciously, you probably got bored of it because you just played Fire Red, and the region is identical without any major changes aside from removing many areas. You don't want to explore the exact same areas immediately because it's nothing special at this point
Those are just a few issues that are regularly glanced over. It's still Pokemon which is fun, and glad to hear you enjoyed it, but there are better Pokemon games out there so you have that to look forward to
I respect your opinions! For me, the reason I didn’t explore Kanto more was because I was on a time crunch and wanted to get this video done. I’ve already started a new save since uploading this video and I’m still having fun with it. But I 100% agree with you about the level curve and how it would have been more difficult if I used more regular Pokémon for my playthrough. This was a big problem I had in FireRed and was something I definitely wanted to avoid when playing this game.
I like meowscarada lol I.wishi could transfer it to alolah or kanto
Everything about this game is good, except that’s it’s in johto 😅 the worst region gameplay wise.
I thought Johto was fine! Not my favorite region, but I enjoyed experiencing it for the first time.
I still recommend this game despite the flaws which I really hate.
