- Another missing Wildlife on One graciously donated by our anonymous benefactor and restored by yours truly, Parrot Fashion from 1989. As you must have guessed, this one is about Parrots and their popularity as pet in Britain during that era. Two scenes showing trained parrots and showcasing their intelligence had to unfortunately be edited as they were preventing the video of being shown. It seem that these scenes were re-used in an episode of a series called Animal Intelligence that doesn’t appear to be available to buy or watch anywhere as far as I could see, but that’s copyright for you I guess.
But as usual, you can get the full, un-edited video on my Internet Archive page.
Stay tuned for more lost documentary films, I got a few more interesting find coming and a few surprises!

Wildlife on One: Parrot Fashion
First broadcast: Mon 22nd May 1989, 20:30 on BBC One London
Alexander the Great, the Duchess of Richmond, Ernest Hemingway and Long John Silver - what do they have in common? All of them, in fact or fiction, were parrot fanciers.Today the passion for parrots is stronger than ever. Pet parrots, performing parrots, talking parrots - when they're sharing our lives we treat them as honorary humans. But when we invade their territories we leave many of them perched on the edge of extinction. The fashion for parrots may give pleasure to a lot of people, but what does it do for the parrots?
