Yanagi is arguably the strongest of the escape convicts in Baki 2018, one of his many weapons in the series is the Bagh Nakh. The Bagh Nakh, also known as, Tiger Claw, is a historic Indian Weapon that was used for ambush attacks. It is also said the tips were sometimes poisoned to ensure the opening attack was the deadliest. What do you think of the design of the Bagh Nakh?
I could see that
Not a big fan in a 1 on 1 fight. Maybe if you’re skilled in MMA, and especially if you’re able to effectively use open hand strikes on the regular (Shades of bas rutten for sure) it may be good, but it would limit even Bas’ use of his own style due to the inherent design.
Honestly, it probably serves the purpose of an ambush really well, if I were wearing a suit or just a jacket I could make this completely invisible, it wouldn’t even trace like a gun or knife can.
But as for a fighting weapon, there’s definitely better options, and, to tell you the truth, I’d rather use my own BJJ skills than this if I were in a fighting situation and not some type of assassin.
yanagi definitely not the strongest spec and dorian
@@tushar-tipartiwar ok I was wondering about them aswell but yanagi is pretty dangerous aswell

Those cons are probably why ninja used their similar tool mostly for climbing/infiltration rather than combat

@@ScenicFightsthank you so much for naming that tool! I was curious. I love your channel so much because of how optimistic and positive you guys are, it's a happy channel not just complaining so I love watching it!
The ninja tools also come in shoe varients for parkour!
@@pharaohsmagician8329I wouldnt say parkour, but climbing instead, because lets be real parkour isnt really effective when you're trying to be quiet while getting intel
I used to think those ninja tools were called "nekode" (猫手), but on further research, it seems like that name was invented by Dungeons & Dragons.
No. Ninjas generally wernt used for combat. They usually assassinate. Fighting was a last resort. So many of their weapons wernt based on hand to hand combat since they aren't known for going into direct battles like samurai.

From what I understand being an Indian and a history enthusiast. The bagh nakh wasn’t this super covert weapon that people think of it as. We do have examples in history of how people use it but they mostly make glancing attacks, akin to a knuckle duster. Hitting with full force would either get it stuck or worse, break your fingers.
Also, daggers and bucklers were common fashion accessories ever since the medieval period in India. It probably makes sense that they would be used in conjunction to them.
Lastly, these things were very much a nobility thing. Hell, we tried a whole bunch of things that would look insane today which include strapping rockets to an elephant and mounting a huge musket on camels. Idk if they were practical but we sure did it.
Indian weapons are the best haha you guys literally have anime stuff like the flexible swords or the chakram
@@BSKROnlineLS True, but let’s not forget they were always a novelty. Warfare on the subcontinent heavily relied on heavy infantry carrying shields and spears along with long bowmen.
The cavalry aspect is often discussed but it doesn’t get importance until the Turks invade and elephants were an ancient to classical era thing. As bows got more precise, elephants became a ceremonial symbol very early on. Even during Hannibal’s time when Indian mahouts were steering his elephants.
@@kalakritistudios Haha for sure, I wouldn’t exactly call them super effective but hey our people have always believed in outlandish ideas and sometimes they just work! As I stated in my last comment though, these novelty ideas were just that, most of the warfare in the subcontinent was akin to Persian or Greek warfare until the Turks invaded.

I can definitely see weapon retention being an issue, but I guess it would work for an ambush if the objective is to blind your opponent.
It is very much an assassination weapon that is usually laced with poison. You also need to access the squishy bits
It's mostly regarded as a self-defense weapon of the elite because of how it can ve plated in gold and hidden as finger rings.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used it to assassinate Azfal Khan when he was hugged. Afzal Khan was a bear of a man, and intended to crush the much smaller Shivaji by hugging him. Shivaji had anticipated an attempt and hid this weapon by coating the rings with gold to make it look like jewelry.
The accounts say that Afzal Khan was eviscerated and left to bleed out while Shivaji escaped. Some accounts even claim that Shivaji laced the Bagh Nakh with poison to ensure the work gets done.
I don't usually comment, but this video really educating me in a minute and the explanation is really clear and make sense, so I have to left a comment to appreciate the creator.
Thank you very much! Please look at my other content on this channel, which is very similar!
so, about the con number 3: since the Bagh Nakh was mostly used in ambushes, the Bagh Nakh was often dipped in poison.
Is there a version with a detachable spike? Horrible to have it stuck in your assassination target and then you get murked by his guards coz you can't pull out.
@@TaLeng2023 i don't know actually...ask someone else who's more knowledgeable. :)
The traditional Indian weapon Bagh Nakh (also known as "tiger claws") does not feature a version with detachable spikes in its original design. Bagh Nakh typically consists of four or five curved blades fixed to a metal plate, usually secured with rivets or screws. The overall design mimics the claws of a big cat and is intended for close-range attacks. Its structure is compact and sturdy to ensure the blades do not easily come loose during combat.
In the traditional version, the spikes (or blades) are generally non-detachable and are directly fixed to the metal base to ensure stability and lethality during use. If the design included detachable spikes, it could compromise its combat effectiveness, especially in situations involving repeated strikes or intense physical confrontation. Such a design might put the user at risk of losing a blade during combat.
Regarding the scenario you mentioned: if the spikes of the Bagh Nakh get stuck in a target and cannot be removed quickly, it could indeed place the user in a very dangerous position, particularly if bodyguards of the target interfere. The Bagh Nakh's design does not account for ease of blade removal, as its primary focus is on delivering direct damage and quick strikes. Therefore, encountering a situation where the weapon is stuck could become a vulnerability for the user.
For those looking to improve their effectiveness with this weapon, the most important factor is practicing fast and accurate striking techniques to avoid situations where the weapon becomes trapped in the middle of combat. Modern weapon improvements might consider more efficient designs for detachable or replaceable spikes, but such features are not commonly found in traditional Bagh Nakh designs.

Thats just a stake💀everyone holds it like that, you're supposed to hold it and hamer it (if that was used on vampires, but in g&bp, its zombies who only need to be stabbed in the face with it)
I would love to see this in stealth missions in video games
Yeah, I could see retention being an issue. So it looks cool in concept, but less cool in practicality.
Actually it was used by a hindu emperor to kill the Mughal chief and he was successful in it. He literally took out the intestine of Mughal chief
Holy shit 10/10 short. Explained everything perfect and made a lot sense. Subbed as soon as you brought up losing one the most important angles of attacks
Do you though? Palm strike with bonus lacerations is very much an option and it's more effective than a jab cause... Well blindness. It's silly to think they'd only work with wide angle slaps. The slap he used is likely the worst attack you could use. Highly telegraphed + easily blocked and only grants minor flesh wounds.
It's not a boxing match its a mauling, hence the name tiger claws. Palm strike, pull downward. Follow up with fatal choke slam/Macgruber throat rip. Think like a tiger, there's a reason Rocky 4 did not contain a tiger.
Yes, there's only one real good attack possible with it. The first strike with the element of surprise. It was first used by the Marathis, and the whole point of this weapon was the same reason a knife is used in games. When enemy is close proximity and your weapon is unusable or you're in a life threatening situation for whatever reason, and an enemy is currently struggling with you, bagh nakh gives you the close range melee attack that takes him out.
Bagh= tiger

There is a tool that is very similer to this weapon that was used by ninjas to help them climb and scale walls and also as a hidden weapon and sometimes grip and catch a enamys weapon like a sword tho i believe it had 4 claws instead of 3 that where curved a bit more also instead of fitting over the knuckles it would fit over the back of the hand it was called the shuko or shako hand claw
Can’t it also be used a sort of grappling tool for making basic BJJ and wrestling almost lethal to a certain extent?
Interesting point. That makes scalping fairly easy and some native Americans jealous.😂

One good attack? That's all I need.
Bagh Nakh: "If u can't beat them, give them suffering"
It was used by an Indian Hindu Emperor named Shivaji to kill General Afzal Khan of the then Mughal Emperor. Afzal was much bigger and stronger than Shivaji Raje. He was deceiving Raje and asking for treaty. He wanted to hug Raje. Shivaji was one of the smartest and brilliant emperors of India who ever lived. He practically invented guerrilla warfare, and many resistance leaders tried to recreate his tactics. Hence, Raje knew about this through his spies. He used this tear Afzal's back wide open during the hug.
The name literally translates to tiger nail
Sivaji didn't invent Guerilla Warfare in India, he did build upon it though. The most well-recorded event of starting to use Guerilla Warfare was by Maharana Pratap.
In any case, both are legendary warriors.

Idk if anyone here knows what killer instinct but the protagonist (jago) had these claws in the second game and It’s cool to see the weapon again.
I'd say the biggest advantage is being able to produce gruesome wounds to the hands of your opponents with quick little hand slaps and disable their only weapon or cause them to bleed or flee due to wounds, while being able to safely slap away daggers or maybe even swords. You can't be disarmed easily and every grapple you accomplish will rip into your opponent.
