So glad you did this ... Also, being a Scanned Owner ... it is good seeing someone like you (with a ton of experience in modules) fiddling with the knobs on this randomly at points trying to see if something happens. Also ... I never figured out how "inject" works ... so I am so happy you showed that!
Thank you for this, and a big thanks for the creative people at Qu-bit for putting in the work to make this very special method of synthesis available in Eurorack! I've been playing with this for a week and can't get enough of it! It makes such an amazing palette of sounds that you want more than one of these modules... That's probably also why it pairs extremely well with a nice delay with super long time, a really huge reverb or even a looper! That way you can get all those very different sounds heard simultaneously. I found that using the v/o input with a very slow stepped random almost creates a pseudo mode/preset change feeling since the entire thing responds very differently in extreme register differences. And even though it totally doesn't "need" filtering, its wildness can either be tamed or pushed further with a filter. I couldn't stop going bonkers using Scanned with WMD Aperture and I can't wait to try it with QPAS, let's see :-) Anyways, just wanted to share my enthusiasm with you all! Thank you again Ben for another great demo!
Great! You're right that it pairs nicely with filtering, as does anything so potentially rich in harmonics. Low pass gates and softer low pass slopes I like 2 pole is nice with no resonance. But of course high passing and having so many higher harmonics to make higher percussive things is really nice too.
@@DivKid Hey Ben... I got this module thanks to your most excellent demo... Question: @ "Drones" (11':07") what is the input into the jack above the "Excite" button? a Clock signal, I suppose? ... Once again: Brilliant demo, explanations & sounds!! Bravo!!
DivKidVideo all right! I can’t wait to see it. Eric just had that Instagram video of processing kicks through it. I got it processing a TG One sample right now. Brutal.
Ah, yes, I've been waiting for this one. Been loving this module since I first got it!! Amazing variety of sounds from one machine and it can certainly bite and bark when it wants to!
this is futuristic , kind of thing that could save a lot of space in the rack and give un explored terrain . I am always on the hunt for new synthesis methods
This sounds absolutely amazing. Love hearing high quality, unexplored sounds. Qu-Bit's modules are so jammed packed with features. I am very excited to hear more of their new fractal sequencer; any chance you'll demo it? Thinking of pairing that sequencer with the upcoming 4ms Spherical Wavetable Navigator in a Pod.
@@DivKid damn, while i was saving my bucks for the e352, its now gone :D but i believe i won't regret it... everytime when i think i am nearly done, there pops another one. this whole thing is so addicting
I love sound generators that use a different method that forces you to re-evaluate what you know about synthesis..subtractive is great but it's great to use a buchla or something like this. FM is a different story :)
I haven't been a fan of qu-bit really. Nothing they've put out has had me gassing. This though. Holy shit I didn't expect this wide range of sounds. I really like how delay/verb opens things up.
Nice to be able to burst through some initial impressions with the video. Of course to every module or company / design style is for everyone, totally appreciate that. Glad people are into Scanned though as it really is something different.
sigh... I've been trying to avoid this... the evolving textures is too good.. thanks again BEN... and truly, thanks for your time/effort in making these vidz :)
Sounds a bit like Elements at times but seems like you can get a lot more out of it though ... some really great sounds coming out from this one ... I've seen a couple of videos on this module and didn't think much for it ... but this vid's got me sold ... so thanx i guess, this yet another one to add to the list of must have ... hah!
Amazing demo dude !!! :) I'm wondering if I should get the Scanned or the Cursus Iteritas. I'm aware that that they're completely different. Which is better to get in terms of variety of sounds ? I do Berlin style techno.
The Scanned made me sell my cursis Iteritas percido. The scanned is a amazing “macro oscillator” for a better price than the CIP. The scanned is a main stay for sure. It is amazing thru an LPG , it can do pretty much anything.
Hi, great video that modules is not really easy to understand but sound so great. For the kick, do you use only 1 env ? i don t understand english very well Thanks!!
Hey! I was reading on a modwiggler forum about Scanned having some clicking problems, and Qu-bit never really addressing the problem. Have you heard or had any of these problems with your unit? Really wanting to grab this module, but worried that this so-called click problem could be a real problem.
Just received one couple days ago and definitely can here some clicks. I contacted Qu-Bit support and they are aware of the issue and there's no fix for it. Still like the module and I am towards keeping it. It is such a different approach to sound design that I think deserves some love. Love the feeling of dealing with such an untamed machine.
I saw once on modular grid that someone made a case with only MI Clouds modules. This seems like this kind of module. A module that you never can have enough of. Or maybe I only need five? Anyway, I'm gobsmacked.

Woulda gotten more loot. It’s a dope module no doubt. But to me it always kinda sounds like the Scanned. Same reason I didn’t like the Manis. It always sounded like a Manis. I’ve seen like one person make it NOT sound like the Manis which is a sound that I didn’t like. Div keep up the vids. You make every module sing to its capacity
Lots of the sounds this thing produces reminds me of the sound fx of the old Rick Dangerous games, haha. Sounds great. ua-cam.com/video/ayuc2wDPer8/v-deo.html
spankenheim - I’ve got this and the bloom in my intellijel 72hp pallet. It’s a great sequencer. If you like noise engineering, they have a lot of amazing modules in very little HP. Clep Diaz is a great steppes LFO. the pons asinorum is a 4 channel Envelope/LFO, both modules together only equals 10hp. They’re great.

Thanks David appreciate that. I often just twiddle knobs and see what happens! :) haha
This is such a versatile module! Amazing. Thanks for the overview Ben
Yeah really impressive range from it. cheers mate!
5:20 "Let's have a manual... WIGGLE." Your Nick Batt is showing :) Thanks again for your work and dedication to the community.
Nah Wiggle isn't a Nick Batt word, PWM and Fulsome they're the Nick terms right?
Very true, especially PWM. It was more your enthusiasm and the manner you said it that reminded me of Nick.
Not again repeating some "Nick-isms" he's great!
13 seconds in and i already know i need this module
Great video! This my favourite module at the moment and I can't stop putting it in patches, it really makes a great main voice in a krell patch.
Scanned Krell! Now there's a thing.
@@DivKid You can find the track I done here soundcloud.com/ross-anderton-1/krell-ish-box-of-frogs I'll repost it on Facebook in the eurorack group!

Which modules did you use for the Synth voice patch?
The bit from 6:11 where it's the full voice on it's own? That's Tuesday from TINRS. Gate and 1v/oct only.
