Hate to tell you but from her position in such a low car she wouldn't have seen the gate move. It only rolled back maybe 8 inches before you activated it to roll up again. If you'd have let it roll down further whole incident probably would have never happened if you let it close. Now your by laws may be different then the posted signage but the signage does say to let the gate close. Perhaps she has been a victim or a friend has to theft in the garage by those not suppose to be in it. Either way this escalated from frustrations/fears when it didn't need to.
Hello Cragified. Yes, I know she would not have been able to see the gate close by looking through her mirror. She should have known that as well. That is why, if she chooses to sit there, it is her responsibility to look over her shoulder and watch the whole gate, not just what she can see in her mirror. The sign on the gate is in reference to, if you are the only car going through, you should make sure pedestrians don't sneak under the gate. That is why there is a picture of feet on the sign. You are no longer asked to sit there when another car pulls up behind you. At that point, you are required to move.

Personally, I would've been mad at her too. All she had to do was pull all the way into the parking garage, but instead she decided to sit there and that was ignorant and inconsiderate.

I was on my way home from the gym, roughly a week ago. I was on the main Blvd, and see this guy speeding, changing lanes, squeezing in between all the cars and overall driving reckless. As luck would have it, we both turned on the same street (with a school on this street). Dude is tailgating like crazy. And he soon tries to overtake me one a 2-way street, so I gas it. I could see it's some 20-something Latino guy with his window down. He yells at me as he passes me by while he's driving on the opposite side of the road. So I pull over, because I'm low-key scared as fuck at the way he almost crashed right into me and endangered the car driving opposite end of us. I yelled at him "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU" he basically yells some profanity and speeds off, peeling out. Cop on the side street seen the whole thing and pulled him over in a school zone. After giving it some thought, i would hate to be him right about now. He more than likely got a ticket for speeding in a school zone, going through a stop sign in a school zone, and I'd honestly say 50/59 on reckless driving while in a school zone. Dude had the audacity to call me a bitch... but after that phat ads ticket, he probably a broke bitch. 😂🤣

But i do not think that after watching the video she for sure saw the gate closing behind her in the first place. I could be wrong. But i'm guessing she was looking in her rear view mirror and the bottom of the gate may not have been visible to this woman before you reopened it. use to drive semis and had a P O Box, would be out on the road 4 to 6 weeks,always had tons of mail and would just start opening the mail,one had a check in it nothing else, wrote out to a church,so I called the people whose name was on the check told the "lady" what happened and she started screaming at me that I broke the law and was gonna call the cops, unfortunately I had gave her my name and address ,she called the feds up and the local cops,cop called called and said the fed put out a warrant on me,they never contacted me just the cops I told him what happened he talk to the lady and she wanted me to be put in prison,he called the feds and said it was a mistake they would fix it, cop came by said she was a REAL LIFE BITCH and was yelling at him to arrest me,so now when i get someone else's mail i rip it up and put in my burn barrel WITH OUT LOOKING INSIDE

I hate to tell you.. But I think shes right.. at least with the first time the gate comes down and goes up. Look at the angles.. I dont think she could possible see the gate from her angle in the rear view... Maybe she could see it in front or above her I dont know. But the bottom of the gate is above her roof line, and so she would not have seen it... I think. And if thats correct, then she is doing the correct thing in her mind. Preventing someone without the gate activator from sneaking in behind her... Maybe im wrong. But I dont think so.
Hello kens97sto171. You just explained why she was in the wrong. You said that she couldn't see the gate through her rear view. That's correct. If she is going to sit that closely and be the self-appointed, gate keeper, then it is her responsibility to look over her shoulder - not through the mirror - to watch if the gate came down at all. Plus, keep in mind that, according to the strata bylaws, she is not permitted to sit there and be the gate keeper in the first place. She has to get out of the way of anyone wanting to enter. Those are the rules.

I can understand why people do that though. the whole point of a gate is to keep unauthorized people out. if a car can just drive in after another authorized car goes in it defeats the point of the gate. I'm assuming the gate comes down regardless of if a car is sitting under it... so maybe one car could get in after another but not a whole line of people.
From watching this I can all ready gauge and ubderstsnd how it works. The gate has a sensor So once you activate it you can then open it and drive through, it got an automated lower function on it, so few seconds and it goes down. The sensor stop more than one car from trying to sneak in at a time. So you open then drive off and park, the gate comes down and this stage you drive forward to activate sensor and press open, gate opens. Controlled access.. She was just being a silly Billy. And started by calling him an idiot..

At the point where you let the gate come down to the first time, she probably couldn't see it. So I understand her waiting until it completely dropped. The name calling and cussing is just juvenile. You walked away and that should've been the end of it. If it had been me, I would've explained that I never saw the gate start to come down and that I was sorry for the inconvenience. We both get a chance to express ourselves and maybe say hi the next time we saw each other.

When I first moved into my apartment I was assigned a parking space for my car. I did what any person would do and parked my car in my assigned spot. The next morning I find a very rude and semi threatening note on my car. Apparently it was already assigned to someone else and the office made a mistake. I'm not the type of guy someone would threaten in person because I look menacing even though I'm actually a big teddy bear. I made the office aware and left it at that. I could have knocked on their door to let them see who they where threatening since they left their apartment number in the note but I just decided to go on with my life. Sometimes I wish I had confronted the person because people like that need to be called out on their bullshit. The next person they try to threaten might not be so forgiving.

I never realized passing through a parking gate left me with such a huge responsibility to all the drivers behind me. I always assumed I was only responsible for my own vehicle.
She definitely was in the wrong and saw the guy she stopped in the gate which your not allowed to do and you see her waving her hand around while she was stopped like if she was shewing him away and she also said she was looking in the mirror herself...meaning she would of saw a car behind her
I don't believe she saw it on the first attempt. I DO believe she was paying attention. While it's easy to establish that WE have a clear line of sight to her windshield mounted rear-view mirror; you'll have to bear in mind that even with the gate descending, the lowest part of it does NOT cross that line of sight from "OUR" camera to her mirror. You also have to recognize that the rear of her cars roof would prevent her from seeing at a rearward and upward angle to witness the gate coming down (on the first attempt). If she had been another 10 feet forward perhaps the angle from the lowest point of the gates descent to the mirror would have decreased and allowed her to see it coming down (1st attempt). As it stands, she was doing her best to try and ensure that the gate came ALL the way down in an attempt to prevent unauthorized access (as the gate sign requests. In short, I believe you jumped the gun a bit. Also, I don't see why it was necessary to speak with her, get out of your vehicle, or take her picture whatsoever. You could have just let it roll off your back with the knowledge that a similar occurrence happening would be a rare thing indeed.

As luck would have it, we both turned on the same street (with a school on this street). Dude is tailgating like crazy. And he soon tries to overtake me one a 2-way street, so I gas it. I could see it's some 20-something Latino guy with his window down. He yells at me as he passes me by while he's driving on the opposite side of the road. So I pull over, because I'm low-key scared as fuck at the way he almost crashed right into me and endangered the car driving opposite end of us. I yelled at him "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU" he basically yells some profanity and speeds off, peeling out.
Cop on the side street seen the whole thing and pulled him over in a school zone.
After giving it some thought, i would hate to be him right about now. He more than likely got a ticket for speeding in a school zone, going through a stop sign in a school zone, and I'd honestly say 50/59 on reckless driving while in a school zone.

I hate to tell you.. But I think shes right.. at least with the first time the gate comes down and goes up. Look at the angles.. I dont think she could possible see the gate from her angle in the rear view... Maybe she could see it in front or above her I dont know.
But the bottom of the gate is above her roof line, and so she would not have seen it... I think.
And if thats correct, then she is doing the correct thing in her mind. Preventing someone without the gate activator from sneaking in behind her... Maybe im wrong. But I dont think so.
Hello kens97sto171. You just explained why she was in the wrong. You said that she couldn't see the gate through her rear view. That's correct. If she is going to sit that closely and be the self-appointed, gate keeper, then it is her responsibility to look over her shoulder - not through the mirror - to watch if the gate came down at all. Plus, keep in mind that, according to the strata bylaws, she is not permitted to sit there and be the gate keeper in the first place. She has to get out of the way of anyone wanting to enter. Those are the rules.

if a car can just drive in after another authorized car goes in it defeats the point of the gate.
I'm assuming the gate comes down regardless of if a car is sitting under it... so maybe one car could get in after another but not a whole line of people.
From watching this I can all ready gauge and ubderstsnd how it works. The gate has a sensor
So once you activate it you can then open it and drive through, it got an automated lower function on it, so few seconds and it goes down.
The sensor stop more than one car from trying to sneak in at a time.
So you open then drive off and park, the gate comes down and this stage you drive forward to activate sensor and press open, gate opens. Controlled access..

When I first moved into my apartment I was assigned a parking space for my car. I did what any person would do and parked my car in my assigned spot. The next morning I find a very rude and semi threatening note on my car. Apparently it was already assigned to someone else and the office made a mistake. I'm not the type of guy someone would threaten in person because I look menacing even though I'm actually a big teddy bear. I made the office aware and left it at that. I could have knocked on their door to let them see who they where threatening since they left their apartment number in the note but I just decided to go on with my life. Sometimes I wish I had confronted the person because people like that need to be called out on their bullshit. The next person they try to threaten might not be so forgiving.

I don't believe she saw it on the first attempt. I DO believe she was paying attention. While it's easy to establish that WE have a clear line of sight to her windshield mounted rear-view mirror; you'll have to bear in mind that even with the gate descending, the lowest part of it does NOT cross that line of sight from "OUR" camera to her mirror. You also have to recognize that the rear of her cars roof would prevent her from seeing at a rearward and upward angle to witness the gate coming down (on the first attempt). If she had been another 10 feet forward perhaps the angle from the lowest point of the gates descent to the mirror would have decreased and allowed her to see it coming down (1st attempt). As it stands, she was doing her best to try and ensure that the gate came ALL the way down in an attempt to prevent unauthorized access (as the gate sign requests. In short, I believe you jumped the gun a bit. Also, I don't see why it was necessary to speak with her, get out of your vehicle, or take her picture whatsoever. You could have just let it roll off your back with the knowledge that a similar occurrence happening would be a rare thing indeed.
