    This 6 year old video has stopped a lot of frustration. Thank you. I could not figure out why the bones in the arm of my puppet were affecting everything else on the screen even thought I had used the "Use Selected Bones For Flexi-binding" menu. Of course, I didn't realize you have to bind all the art work to bones before bones assigned to layers don't affect other layers. Guess I read through the manual too fast, but coming here got me on the right track. Thanks again.

      I kind of wish the default was to make unassigned bones have no influence on the layers.

    "What are the difference between bind layer and Flexi-binding?" Basically flexi binding let's you handle the characters (made out of images) like the vector characters kinda. For example if the arm is one single image then bind two bones to that arm and you can bend the image like a vector arm.
    Now Bind Layer however only does what it says. It binds a layer to a bone and that is it.

    Still trying to wrap my head around rigging. Since the upper arm and lower arm are different layers, what's the purpose/advantage to using Flexi Bind over layer bind? Thanks.

    Does Flexibind work when I change the Bone Strength to zero?
    Why set the bone strength to zero [0]?? Because I don't want those bones influencing other bitmaps around them.

    • @McCoy_Buck
      @McCoy_Buck  6 місяців тому +2

      Flexi-binding only works with bone strength. In order to make sure those bones don't influence other layers. Each layer must be bound to a bone. If it is difficult to bind certain layers to certain bones, it would be best to continue to break down those layers so they move with the proper bone

      Thanks so much for the helpful and speedy response, McCoy. It is greatly appreciated@@McCoy_Buck
      Is this the correct sequence?
      1. Press "Shift -B" to select the bones
      2. Select Texture [Alt > R-click] on the texture
      3. Bones > FlexiBind Layer

    • @McCoy_Buck
      @McCoy_Buck  6 місяців тому +2

      @@TimLinklater sure thing! The tutorial might go a little fast. Sequence:
      1. Select the layer (bitmap) you want to bind bones to, in the layer panel = Quick select layer "alt+right click on art/ texture
      2. Using the select bone tool 'b' on the keyboard - left click the bone you want to select. Shift left click on all bones you want to select if there are more than one.
      3. To bind those bones using flexi-binding either use shortcut Ctrl+shift+F, menu > bone > 'use selected bones for flexi-binding', or if using moho 14 go to top right of the select bones menu options and click on the button that says 'link bones'

      Thanks so much for the clarification@@McCoy_Buck ! That worked perfectly. I must have had the sequence out of order before as the #3 step wasn't available [Bone > FlexiBind Layer] but your step-by-step response was a great help! THANK YOU!!!

    Ok so what is the difference between flexibinding and just binding the layer to a bone through the (bind layer) button.

      Hi Mccoy, I already bought your course on Udemy, and this Flexi binding stuff is confusing me.

    • @McCoy_Buck
      @McCoy_Buck  7 років тому +1

      Okay I am sorry to hear that. That was a link to the free lectures. I really don't know of any other way to explain. Perhaps hop on to my groups Moho Pros - beginners on Facebook and ask the question there, perhaps someone might be able to break it down further for you?

    • @McCoy_Buck
      @McCoy_Buck  7 років тому +4

      Easiest way to put it. Flexi-bind = ability to bind multiple bones to one layer. Layer binding = one layer per bone

    • @hamidious
      @hamidious 7 років тому

      Hi McCoy, I did some testing in Moho and I think I'm getting there to understanding it.
      If I can have a few beginner questions? I noticed in your lecture and when I tried it myself that squashing and stretching bones works so differently when flexibinding vs layer binding a ball. Any idea why? Also if I flexi bind a layer to a bone, what does the bone strength affect in that case?

    Why would you bind bones?
    Why would you flexi-bind bones? Why would you do neither and just use bones as you add them?
    Does it depend upon using vectors that are drawn in MOHO, or imported from somewhere else, or using images imported from photographs?
    Should you always use some type of binding for all bones/vectors/images?
    I'm learning how to use MOHO and always get in a terrible mess when rigging.
    Bones and limbs flying all over the place when moving from frame zero to frame one etc, etc.
    I have such a problem with rigging!

    Hello McCoy Buck, Thanks for dissecting some of these files. Its very Valuable info. I was wondering if you knew or were ever going to dissect the frame by frame samurai file that comes with anime studio. trying to wrap my head around how it was created. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @McCoy_Buck
      @McCoy_Buck  7 років тому

      Hey Eric!
      Not sure I understand the question and possibly commented on the wrong video ;) but I will take a stab at what I think you desire.
      If you are referring to the LIVE streams I did where I dissected the different characters, regarding the samurai. There isn't too much to dissect there. The reason being is because frame by frame is hand drawing not rigging. I know that is a terrible answer but I also am not good at frame by frame to be honest :/
