The older chat shows were better, better interviewers, nicer actors/actresses, more sophisticated, unpretentious, simpler, all these things, sometimes more formal, Dick Cavett had some great guests, Lennon, Delon Jerry Lewis, Loren etc. Just a nice time.

To Gatto: I see your point and in my view I wouldn't describe him with those adjectives (however true they might be) but instead, I think that Cavett shows his intentions to conceal (and shield) his insecurities with all the comments and projections (on his interviewees)... but - this is where we differ - I do believe that we all tend to do that, some people do it more than others at times...
