Omd probably one of the most underrated bands of the 80s by those who didn't appreciate great music by great musicians that is... Omd were ahead of their time..
@Maad Wunz The drumming at the start is a bit similar. I used to think OMD played lovely music but their lyrics were a bit twee in comparison to Joy Division. Mind you not too many indie bands were as dark as Joy Division.

I was once hired as a DJ at a wedding and they asked me to play a waltz for the newlyweds to dance to. I played this song and the whole wedding party cheered by the first sounds of it. Not to mention that the bride and the groom loved it, the dancefloor filled quickly and they all thanked me later especially for that stroke of genius to play Maid of Orleans instead of some classical piece (which I failed to bring to the party).
This classic was in the charts exactly 40 years ago, my first Christmas after leaving school, what a time to be 16 years old going to the pub and playing this and many others on the jukebox

I'm so glad that I was old enough to be living through this music when it was brand new, as a teen. Back in the days when we had cassette tapes, boom boxes, walkmans and parachute pants. I amassed a small collection about 200 CD's and 80 or so cassettes and only recently lost it in a repossessed storage unit.
I bought this album the week it came out here in Toronto. A friend told me to buy it. I had no idea what it was. I must have listened to it dozens of times mesmerized by the sound the day I bought it. It was so electronic, it was so unique. At the time I was listening to the Clash, Specials, Beat.... this just blew me away. And I still have this album. My kids love it.
The sad thing is that some of my youth have already left, of course much too early, but it shows that the impacts are getting closer, oh man, how did I love my youth and the 80s 👍😢
LYRICS: Joan of Arc had a heart Would she give it as a gift To such as me Who longs to see How an angel ought to be Her dream's to give her heart away Like an orphan on a wave She cared so much She offered up Her body to the grave

It's Brenda from Auf Wiedersehn Pet ! Absolute classic tune from a class band. Can't wait to see them again next year in Liverpool.
Another brilliant song from this totally underrated duo.
Still watch in 24’ and seeing them on tour to.
Das war das Lieblingslied meiner Oma. Wir haben es auf ihrer Trauerfeier gespielt. Oma hoffentlich hast du es jetzt gut da oben❤️🕊️
Godbless rip
The sad thing is that some of my youth have already left, of course much too early, but it shows that the impacts are getting closer, oh man, how did I love my youth and the 80s 👍😢
Einer der besten 80er. Supersong.
Who could dislike this wonderful song???
LYRICS:
Joan of Arc had a heart
Would she give it as a gift
To such as me
Who longs to see
How an angel ought to be
Her dream's to give her heart away
Like an orphan on a wave
She cared so much
She offered up
Her body to the grave
I searched for the lyrics, thank you :*
I've been searching for this song since childhood and now it suddenly appears!
One of the greatest Songs ever
An absolute work of art. Simple and class. A masterpiece. This is why this great era for music will never bow out. Forever trapped!
I'm a tough guy, but, genuinely,i feel like crying when i hear this. Reminds me of good times long ago. Times not so good for me now. life sucks.
I always loved OMD. They did some great tunes. Totally unique.
Zoooo mooi nummer dit.. Als kind was ik gek op de clip.. De muziek is prachtig!! ❤❤
My favourite song of all times. Gives me chills every time I hear it.
Dont cry Miss Laurie
My daughter will be 35 years old this year (2019). It was this music and era that produced her! Thank you OMD, Ultravox, Classix Neauvoux, and the rest!
One of the best starts to a song - ever
42 Years ago and still a Class of it's own!
