saw them live last year on the day before simon's birthday, great show, it hit midnight and they had like a celebratory encore with baloons and glitter and shit! it was so trippy, best night of my life
i'm underground, and retro all the way. i'll check out those artists for sure as i never listened to their music. i just don't see how shpongle sounds poppy. i listen to everything from aphex twin, koan and krussledorf, dynohunter, old gansta rap like rbl posse, mac dre, andre nickatina, vibrapshere. i know stuff can still sound like pop that isn't mainstream, but with the array of sphongle's styles, i just don't hear it. i like star sphongle banner, nothing lasts, rajas work in 1200 mics
dude im from the states as well. just because its not on the radio doesn't mean its not poppy. you should really delve into the underground scene. check out bands such as pear, yann tiersen, john cage, igorrr.
@neoanarchobeatpunk how does this sound 'poppy'? your opinion is your opinion, but i'm from the states and any commercial music lady gaga, lil wayne, the new noise they call 'hip hop', ect sounds poppy. this is art.
Some of the studio stuff a little less poppy, i think (tickling the amygdala, maybe) but i tend to agree... they're like a psychedelic Vegas conservancy, Cirque de Soleil of music. Not very challenging.
Good, good stuff but really third generation Gong, check out "Angel's Egg" and "You," the originals. Second generation Gong didn't quite do it, the special something skips a generation methinks.
Some people use poppy to describe any music with an upbeat. To use pop as an adjective though, imo, should be reseved for actual pop music. Verse-chorus-verse sung, upbeat and melody driven music...doesn't necessarily have to be popular. Anyway, this isn't very poppy. To me, this song is clearly a trip hop song, and compares to stuff by Portishead or Phantogram. Has a more progressive rock infrastructure than pop, imo.
some laugh .... some weep..... some dance for joy! It makes me do all of the above, at the same time....
From 2021 with deep love
Beautiful, I want to hear it at my funeral, when the frends enter the room ...

seeing this liveshow on shrooms takes it to a hole new level!
@DavidLimmerMusic
anyone who thinks commercial, mainstream noise is music will dislike real music like this.
from Yakutsk to Oymyakon in winter
nice break down!
i've taken acid and peyote, but there's no need for them when listening to Shpongle
Ah Miss Gorton, why are there so few videos of you? You're like a precious resource, only for special occasions. That hook is truly transcendent...
This track is just out of this world! Douse anybody dnow how can I get this concert on video with a good quality? Thanx.
well, a pity for the distorted overgained sound ...

Lol.
Music is just a tool for expression; pop music tends to be bland, boring, one dimensional nonsense. You are biased sir.
