I actually really like the A45, it’s a nice nice looking car, even as an Audi RS owner, the only thing i don’t like is, that it doesn’t feel special, the Audi RS has a special engine and exists because of the original Quattro, not because it was competing in a hatch back war
Plus the audi rs feels more premium inside to me

I just bought an A45. Best decision I've ever made. It just feels that much more special than its contenders. It's an AMG for christ sake 😍

A35 is so slow though. Check out the rolling race on carwow
That delay in throttle response in comfort mode can catch you out if your not careful
Can’t tune these that well, also very heavy, RS3 pre fl if it was a choice between the 2. RS3 also sounds considerably better, but would say the A45 handles better. FL RS3 handling wise is how we even better 😎

Best car you’ve driven so far i owned fl one for 9 months was great , now have fl rs3 which is a step up it’s just awesome, but rather have my old a45 back rather than pfl rs3, fl rs3 is a different matter

I'll be honest, I'm sure they're fantastic cars, not personally for me but each to their own. I think it's between the RS3 and Megane for me personally, I think I'd end up having the Megane because it has that character, looking forward to seeing what you end up with!

Just to put it into perspective, I'm an old git, early 50's, Hastings wanted over a grand for a year for me. And that's with years of no claims and high performance driving experience. Just curious - keep up the great work though fella. 👍

I think this is what you'll go for. Say that. I've owned a Golf R for around 6 months now and I find it to easy to drive fast. I think my next car will be an Elise S2.

this was the car i was going to buy, 3 weeks later i bought a Golf R DSG for a daily. 😄 the only thing with Mercedes is they age bad. mercs that came out 7-8 years ago look ancient today on the roads.
Gearbox isn't dropping quick enough because its not above 50°C, if you put the dash screen into AMG rather than the Mileage counter you'd see the car probably wasn't actually warm enough. Potentially.
Good car but I would still take the rs3 all day long that engine and sound is just that much better
A45 is a great car but it's let down by the gearbox.
I think you're going to buy an A35
Might have more power than the RS3 but I think the RS3 has several characteristics that would easily persuade me to go it. 5 cylinder sound is amazing, dsg gearbox is so much better. Interior is better imo especially if we are talking about the new ones. Loads more tuning potential and huge aftermarket for it. This AMG A45 is a little dated. But don’t get me wrong it still is a nice car.
The gearbox is so sluggish, that alone would make me walk away from one of these.
If that wouldent, itd be the price which is ridilous for such small car. And thats BEFORE all options, as usual with mercedes ripping us off.. Rather pay more for an M3 thats bigger.. 👍

You didnt enable 100ms mode... In either Sport+ or Race. Start Stop Off. Go into the Trip computer and turn ESP off. All in that order

Very nice cars but the interior is feeling its age and they are setup to understeer almost as much as the godawful RS3. The dimwitted automatic gearbox would be a deal breaker for me.
Now this is a hot car
RS3 has much better tuning ability, A45 does not.
So not an A45, not one of the 4 - did it still come from Church's? If so I'm guessing they sourced for you rather than stock?

When you owned a Golf R you need to get the Mercedes or the audi
People think the A45 is a beast, but its not really. The 4WD system really saps alot of the engines power.
I have a mate who has an early A45, and i have a A220d AMG line with Brabus S2 tuning pack. Flatout on a dual carridgeway there is not much between us. He wins by a small margin every time, but im only about 2 car lengths behind. In the 2.2 Diesel version that will do 70mpg in Eco mode. And yes it sounds like a bag of tools being thrown down the stairs.

Sorry nothing I've seen so far is worth trading the R in for. Amg doesn't look as good and the interior is covered in that carbon effect material. Rs3 just doesn't seem worth the extra cost and definitely not in that colour.
Megane would be a step backwards in drive,looks and quality.

I've got one of these, this car really rewards an aggressive driving style... A35 and A45s owners are gonna cry when they discovered EU regulations have strangled all the sound out of their cars... The Golf and Rs3 are good cars, but THEY ARE NOT AMGs.

Had one for 3 months. Most brutally fast, dull car I’ve ever driven. Most engaging thing about it is looking down at the speedo now and again. Don’t do it. Unless you like traffic light GP, and even then there’s plenty of bigger fish.

"Nothing with this performance at this prece" Golf R is just .3 sec slower 0-60, quicker through the twisties and here in the US $15k -$20k less. And still looks adult. Value? If we are just talking performance for prized haunted type R. Not adult looking.

Edit: m140i is the only real choice. Can't even get one in the USA. Rwd, manual, inline 6 with massive power potential. What's to think about.
