    Worst part for me is that when you are on the grass and have like 3 seconds to crash and you know there is nothing you can do about it…

  • @r4mps
    @r4mps 3 роки тому +84

    It's very dangerous what he did. People have broken their necks doing this, after similar crashes because they don't know :
    ALWAYS put your arm from your fist to elbow above your head before releasing the safety belt! And push!
    For street belts, push with your feet against the floor of the car or steering wheel so you can release the tension before you can disconnect it, otherwise it might seem " stuck ". It's the actual safety mechanism that prevents you from releasing before you sustain your body weight by your own means.
    Be safe ppl!

      @@joshuakuehn unfortunately I wasn't :)
      I used to be a defensive driver trainer and quoted a part of the discussion on the subject. The saddest part is the lack of awareness on the subject and people still get injured when getting out of a seat belt, even after soft roll overs that didn't do any harm in the first place.
      Stay safe

      Straight cut gears. They sound that way because they keep doing micro hits. 2 teeth engage, then only one so it flexes more, then 2 again so there's a hit and it flexes less, rince and repeat.

    • @RobManser77
      @RobManser77 3 роки тому +4

      A bit harsh, we all make mistakes. I'm afraid I agree though. Two things were wrong:
      1) The driver doesn't have a distinct turn-in phase at the start of the corner, he steers as and when he needs steering based on what's 3 metres in front of the car. You can see the same technique used in most of the other bends - Barn shows it well (here there was a sudden spike of steering at the apex, when really at this point the car should have been turned in already and pointing further to the right, allowing the steering to be unwound and acceleration applied).
      2) Often the turn-in is far too early; Coppice shows this well, in fact I thought this was where the accident was going to be. This means that more steering is needed during the bend (see 1 above), so these two mistakes are linked.
      Combine the above two, and you end up having to ask a huge amount of the front tyres at some point in the bend when the tyres aren't ready for it. Add in the inevitable cold tyres in a sprint, and you get the accident. If this all happens in the early phase of the bend, you go off straight on as here; if it happens later and the driver gets off the power without unwinding the steering, you get lift-off oversteer and a spin. The problem with both starts way back at the start of the corner, leaving the driver in a narrowing cone of possibilities.
      To end on a positive though, it looks like a beautifully prepared car! :-)
