I used to race these back in the day with great sucsess at Horndean and Ringwood. You got to have the engine mounts solid or the driveshafts will pop out of the gearbox, also you must have a guard over the oil filter or it will just snap of like a carrot. I used to chain the lower suspension arms forward to the subframe, dont know if todays rules allow that ? That is the quite rare Ducelier distributor you got there which means getting some points will not be as easy as the more common Lucas ones.
Cracking video and jokes Pete and the team, had a lovely beige Maxi 🤣 back late 80s when me and the wife bought our first house and had to sell my Sierra for the deposit for the mortgage my dad's mate got the Maxi as a PX and it was only £50 got me to work...
Just make sure you watch the oil filter as it WILL spoil your day & get snapped off for sure! Not sure but it maybe able to by pass it or blank it off? Sure one of the Dover Boys will know as they used them down there i believe 🤷♂️
Wayne (Minty) is so funny lol, I do like a Maxi, reminds me of being a kid in the early 80s when my dad had them. Just realised I was also born in 76, christ I'm old. Great videos though, and tell Wayne Maxis / 1800s were all Hydrolastic suspension! Well done boys 👌
bloody brilliant, your channel deserves to go viral, and a class act getting it to run (probably better than it did in 1976) I am so glad you didn't paint it it would have been such a shame to cover all the body panel repairs🤣🤣
Yeah and again great video Bodja. Great nostalgic feeling remembering myself and the gang trying similar things to get something we pulled out of a hedge to fire up and run. But never a Maxi 😂
The euphanism you are looking for pete when u painted the clear on the maxi is shines like a diamond in a goats arse .love the vids mate so easy watching.very reminiscent of my younger days growing up in the banger scene love it🍻
As someone has mentioned run that maxi on solid engine mounts and you need some spare oil filters and an oil filter Guard we used to put an old paint tin with jubilee clips over the filter. If you getting it running spot on it will be well on the pace good luck with it
I don't think it matters who you are or what your working on, when an engine fires up for the first time everyone with have a massive grin and 30% of people will do a silly dance 👌🏼
Cracking vid Pete, The weekender at Mildenhall is looking to be a good meeting there is going to be some nice old bits of tin being given one last run.
Another epic vlog Pete and team. Loving all the vlogs. Massive credit to u and yr team yr all ambassadors of the sport. Camt wait to see more racing + work vlogs. Was wondering weather these is a chance of us see yr car sign written as it happens plz. Also how many different tracks do u race at plz?? 👍👌👏
random message but I can't find a way to message you on your page, can you do a build video from start to finish next time you build up a shell, ive bought a car to build my first banger with and I think it would be good (mostly for me) to see a full insight of stripping it and building it up to spec? thanks!
@@Allstar_Garage May be ,my dad had 1850 Maxi for yrs and thats what he call it.they are proper pieces of old sh!t ! i wrote it off in the end, best thing to happen to it.
hey! There was nothing wrong with the Maxi, a versatile forerunner of the SUV. You could even sleep in the back if you wanted! I even taught people to drive in one! The problem for the Maxi, it was about when anyone and everyone wanted to have a laugh at any vehicle coming from the British Leyland stable we must be the only nation that knocks our own products and praises foreign imports. Shame.
Pete please don't ever stop making these videos, there absolutely epic
