    Small mistake in the video, the fan is 170cfm, not 250. Thank you for watching and all of the parts and tools are linked in the description!

    With my sled I always wash my belts with dawn dish soap. It's a 2017 Zr 9000 making 210 hp. It seems to bite better and last longer.

      PACK A PUNCH Nice tip!
      when the belts are made, they are made in a mold, which has to be sprayed with a silicone type mold release. So, yes, washing the belt does help it bite better and last a little longer since it’s not slipping so much at the beginning.

    Pro tip:
    When cutting tubing, plastic, pvc & metal, place a metal band clamp around the tube and you can use that as a cutting guide to insure a nice, straight clean cut.

    I would recommend putting some heat shielding on the underside of that fan too. It runs right over the exhaust.

    I seen a big utv racer answer a from a fan about installing these blowers he said they actually made the belt hotter when running high rpm as the spinning clutches actually move more air than these blowers and the blowers caused restriction up top. He said low rpm( mud and crawling) the should work great tho. It will be interesting to see your results

    Hey Mike, thanks for your in depth videos. I have a Commander 1000 & burn through belts every 600 miles. With your videos I’m getting to be a good belt & clutch mechanic. Keep up the videos, their great. Thanks for your time, that’s a lot of work. I’ll let you know how the mods work for me.

    With my 2012 Commander I run any new belt through the dishwasher (without any cleaners or drying agents) to clean off the oil and then hit it with Scotchbrite before installing it or putting it into a spare belt bag.

    Oil is the principal raw material in rubber. Rubber is 90% oil. I race dirt track and people treat their tires with pb blaster,wd,etc to make them softer, and stickier. They will be slippery right away, but after a day that's when they get soft. Kind of counter intuitive. Put oil on to get grip. It works. Not saying you should do this for a belt idk what would happen. Maybe better? Maybe not

    This was a great video!!! In the process of ordering the parts now. Can you tell me what size hole saw you used at the 19.11 min mark? And how did you get that in there? Did you use a swivel bit?

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  Рік тому

      Its been a few years since I made this video but I want to say the hole saw was about 4.5-5 inches, just slightly larger than the fan for clearance. I used a low profile 90 degree drill adaptor to fit it in there.

    Not a good idea. It needs to go under the dash. Your going to get water into the fan .plus air box

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  4 роки тому +4

      I originally had it under the dash. Guys on the forums said after testing its not as effective as on the lower half. It should be water tight; all of the connectors are water tight and the fan has silicone on all joining areas. Time will tell.
