Haslab Victory Saber Is Great, BUT…… | #transformers Legacy Haslab Victory Saber Review
Victory Saber is a good release but it is a shame that multiple units had QC issues, lucky that Hasbro are sending replacement parts out to customers though.
I'm honestly waiting for a mass produced haslab in a box like they did with Unicron and it'll just be inner peace.
I didn’t know they were sending out replacements, that’s super good to hear for people that had issues
Is there a link or email I can hit up for that?
Ya I called about it they said they had replacements.
It would’ve been cool if victory Leo was designed where his lower body would only split when the waist is straight. If they could’ve put the waist swivel with that and it not be a mess, the figure would’ve been awesome
Something like cybertron metroplex? Where his saw can split but also spin
The more I think about this the more I realize how bad of a practice haslab truly is. It's basically punishing those who can't back it by never re-releasing it and forcing them to deal with scalpers who will sell it for 300% more
He seems to be flooded with bad QC for a lot of people.
I’ve seen reviews that prove you are right. The mini cons are literally falling apart.
I think it's due to the shipping controls. 💀
My Victory Saber has damaged gold pieces on both Star Saber and Victory Leo as well as the minicons not being able to stay together, sucks to see its so widespread
Yeah my saber figure for some reason has a stress mark on the neck joint.
I'm hoping that because Deathsaurus doesn't need to fit as many gimmicks, they can focus more on QC stuff and minimizing little problems like the ankle joints
Should’ve been a mainline release imo 🤷🏼♂️
With the amount of material and parts count on this guy, there's no way this would've been a mainline release. Hasbro didn't even know western audiences would even be interested in TF: Victory, so they were cautious in making this a made-to-order project. Due to its success, we're getting a mainline Galaxy Shuttle and a HasLab Deathsaurus that unlocked its final tier yesterday. Perhaps we'll get more guys like Road Caesar and Liokaiser down the line.
@@x_Star.Saber_x fair point, I mean they could sold star saber alone as a commander class but I do understand their caution, but I’d love to see more victory characters have main line releases
Yeah I have to agree, I wish more effort was given or corners hadn’t been cut. Deathsaurus seems to have been a drastic improvement
@@x_Star.Saber_x That’s BS. They can do market research. They can run algorithms to predict what people will buy.
@@VAULT-TEC_INC. The HasLab release WAS the market research, wise guy.
Bruh
Imagine a LegEVO Star saber with Ginrai as a Headmaster, since Ginrai (PM Optimus) BECAME VICTORY LEO (I know, confusing) and Victory Leo as a weaponizer!
This could have been Split into 2 Mainline Releases.
*Yo shoutout to the Siege Micromaster “repaints” in this 170USD toy*
In all honesty they look awesome and I REALLY want them to release both them AND Leo in legacy
This should have been a retail release
It's unfortunate that a lot of them have QC issues, but it's also nice that most of them seem to be fixable with some thickening of some pegs. Mine has the same QC as yours plus a few more, but despite the issues I still have just as much fun with it.
I may be speaking like a poor person, but I wish they released a normal version without Victory Leo at retail so people who missed out, or can't access Haslab have an option. I live somewhere where HasLab is just not an option for me.
Given the after market prices, I ended up getting Planet X ver.Not quite the same, as it based on the IDW ver of the character, but still a nice figure and fill that Star Saber hole in my collection.
Glad to get a review from a star Saber fan (I used to have both MP bots too) because I feel a lot of reviewers are mostly completion based and don't talk about why the figure is fun. I think the cost is fine too...I paid 160 to import both Big Powered and Ginrai sets and the quality of this set is way better.
oh yea...I kinda didn't like trying to manipulate the MP.... this guy is way more fun.
I got the LG ex version and no issues. Star Saber is riddled with qc issues.
I hate haslab, nothing more than overpriced toys designed to collect interest from up front payments and maximize the FOMO. All this has done is tell Hasbro they can keep charging ludicrous prices for stuff we want. They said themselves that we would have gotten Deathsaurus in the mainline if Victory Saber hadn't done so well. Meaning we could have gotten him for half the price and most of what the haslab does minus the extras and not be forced in a limited time to decide whether we want him or not. I think Victory Saber did not justify the price but Deathsaurus is even worse. At least Saber came with a few figures in the box Deathsaurus is just a commander with 2 cassettes. And it's going to get even worse since Hasbro has been told we are fine with that too.
Deathsaurus would have been a leader, not Commander and you would have had to buy breast animals separate as core class releases. Yeah, it'd be half the price, but it'd also be less than half the quality
I can't stand this thought that if things don't sell well they'll make things cheaper, I got news for you buddy, if things don't sell well they stop selling them altogether not make them cheaper, you can think you're some warrior for fair prices, but you just look like a whiny baby
How to improve the Micromasters:
Repaint the red one to be a candy cane
Repaint the white one in that fortnite (shut up let me like my game with it’s toxic fanbase) Minty Sky-Blue/Dark-Blue/Neon-Green color scheme
Why?
Holli and Jolli!
I see people complain about no landing gear... I build Gundams that I then paint and have a rubber mat and a felt pad on the shelf so that's not an issue for me I highly recommend getting felt for displaying figures
Fun fact: my star saber actually came without the blade for the sword, I have a star saberless now
contact hasbro. Supposedly they've been replacing parts.
That's really rough, hopefully you can get that fixed
Victory ***** (place holder)
Just got mine in the mail. Package was busted on the corner, but not too miffed about it as I am more excited about the toy inside than the packaging. Very happy with this figure, little scratches on the chrome but not other qc issues. The top of Star Saber's flight mode is underwhelming deco wise, probably my largest gripe with the figure. I wish each figure came with a #/26000 on them, just to make them feel a little bit more special but that'd just be gravy at this point. Overall, glad this figure came out at all. Although I understand the controversy behind crowdfunded toys (especially in the current economic crisis), I think Haslab has some possibilities left in it though I can't think of any good ideas off the top of my head.
I'm really glad I backed this, the play value of the set is fantastic and it looks amazing too. Fire doesn't tab together well but that's understandable when he's just a retool of Topshot. TINY paint scuff on the shoulder. I'm glad the set showed up before the Deathsaurus cutoff because I wasn't going to back him unless I was satisfied with Victory Saber.
EDIT: trimmed some flash from Fire's leg, works just fine now
U playing with those?
@@kabardino1337 I mean, yeah? I didn't buy it just to look at the box lol
@@XelhosTallyn Me too brother. You do what you want with what you pay for. I plan on panel-lining my Victory Saber up. It is a great time to be a Transformers fan!
If I'm not mistaken thew said something about the guy who worked on this also worked on Gundam so yeah and that's why the design of victory saver in general looks like a Gundam which it's cool to see like it's like its own type of crossover without even trying
Sooooo given how much you like Star Saber… Where’s the HasLab vs MP comparison? I feel both sets have pros and cons. I’m curious which way you’d go.
I checked mine after watching your video, lucky no scratch on chests, all joints & hinge are tight enough, but still....mine has another defect which mostly others do not have, my set comes WITHOUT THE BLADE! man...
I really wish this was a retail release, even if it was at commander price without Victory Leo, the stand, etc. I know the Japanese shows were a bit more obscure, but this isn't some random character, this is a faction leader, and I'm pretty sure more people know who Starsaber is than characters from Masterforce, which was also a Japanese only show, like Minerva, or a G2 Comics exclusive character like Jiaxus.
We're getting Diaclone repaints as retail releases, but a faction leader is an online exclusive?
They're probably not confident JG1 will do well over here.
@@_V.Va_ So they release a character from Beast Wars 2, a character from Masterforce, and a character from G2 at retail?
@@josiaharaki7310 Their ways truly are mysterious.
Meanwhile 2024 gives us Magmatron.
"Here are some poses the masterpiece would only DREAM! Of doing" ...Man the masterpiece sure has to suck if it can't do even that boring bare minimum
Wish that Star-Saber was a Legacy release at a commander price point so people who didnt get Victory Saber by the funding and get a reasonable price point other than this price point from funding.
and i wish i had a million dollars, aint happening
I’m not an adult collector but I’ve been collecting for 9 years and all I know is I need that figure
I Hate this, Hasbroand/or Zavvi F*cked my order and they say it's each other's fault...
As it stands I’ll probably just get the Planet X Star Saber and Victory Leo, given that it will be a better deal given if arguably cheaper than the Haslab, 300 for the Planet X bois, 300-350 for the average HasLab Saber if you’re lucky, since I love both the IDW and G1 designs. Also I like the scale between the Planet X figures with each other, and with the eventual Deathsaurus.
With this and now Deathsaurus I sincerely hope Hasbro isn't exiling Japanese canon to Haslab (for the first time).
If it means we get more victory characters, i hope they are
The hatch on mine, on the legs of the combined mode don't latch when in ship mode anyone got a fix since Hasbro still hasn't gotten back to me yet...... His in the video seems to have the same problem as seen at 14:37 the hatch that the knee foldes into dosnt close or if you try to push it it bows alot
Great review! I am glad I was able to back Victory Saber and Deathsaurus as well. That was a bro move on Hasbro's part to be able to get this Victory Saber out and in people's hands before the end of the Deathsaurus Haslab. Too bad about the gaps and screw holes though, I mean this is a Haslab after all. I really hope someone like ToyHax makes some gap and screw-hole covers. I plan on panel lining mine up to really celebrate that Gundam aesthetic. Keep up the great work!
Really wish and feel like this set would have been could have been should have been two separate mainline releases
I lost one of the tusks on my Victory Leo cause it popped off. Called hasbro pulse, was on hold for less than 3 minutes, and they are sending me an entirely new victory leo figure free of charge. Super good customer service in my opinion, if you have any issues with your copies i wouldn't panic, just give hasbropulse a call they are really understanding
I have to say I really enjoyed your review. I usually catch Thew, Freakin Geek, or Prime vs Prime. I just found my VS yesterday for $200. So stoked
Sadly, my broke ass is only worth like five cents and yet I adore this so much
I feel a lot of the budget went into the packaging, paint, accessories, stand and combinations because if I'm being honest, the transformations are probably the weakest point, for me at least. And this is an opinion I have overall of Japanese transformers were I feel like the transformation aspect of the robots was an afterthought and many of them basically follow this template: extend arms, chest and legs, flip out hands, feet and head. Like the vehicle mode clearly looks like the robot lying down with all limbs and head tucked in. I like it when my Transformers look very different across their modes.
Probably why Hasbro decided to give this one a go first. They knew they wouldn't have to design very complex transformations and could instead focus on other stuff.
I managed to SOMEHOW get my hands on a copy, and I LOVE IT
Anyone else first think of the black lion from Voltron after seeing Victory Leo's lion form. Also a solution I think would be cool for the screw holes is to make them 5mm ports as well so they are actually used and aren't just an eye sore. lastly Victory Sabre is going for 180.00 dollars on Hasbro pulse at the moment
Did Hasbro put out extra stock or returns because didn't the Victory Saber Haslab end a while ago? If they did, people would be smart to jump on that.
I'm scared that in the future Is going to become yellow
The KFC victory Leo has a waist swivel...
Would it be possible for you to scan all of the inserts? I don't know if there's any versions already online but the artwork is fantastic and it would be wonderful to get the chance to have them printed into a full poster. Thank you. Wonderful content.
What's your favorite transformer show?
Epic review That Toy Guy!! I hope I will be able to get Victory Saber one day. Keep on being amazing.
Definitely a great legacy figure, not worth a premium figure though
I’m now going to learn about this character because he looks amazing. His full on alt mode, not with Leo, reminds me of Ultra Magnus’s ship from Transformers Prime
I actually managed to sell the Micromasters and the box sleeve along with the tray cover.
So I at least got some money back on this set.
I really just wanted Star Saber and Victory Leo.
Star Saber, the greatest swordsman in the galaxy. Shame that Cyclonus never got the memo in the comic.
WE SHALL NOT MENTION IDW STAR SABER
I still have yet to see a convincing argument to why hasbro, a near trillion dollar corporation needed to crowdfund (a method usually for people without the money) this or unicron. Certainly not because "star Saber isn't as well known" because half of the figures hasbro sells are of characters no one really cares for
The hell? Since when is Hasbro a trillion? Also this isn’t the traditional crowdfunding, it’s a hybrid of that and made to order since they’re trying to gauge if people would buy it, businesses rarely make a venture expecting a loss so if it doesn’t work out they’d have thousands of useless stock piling up. Japanese transformers is a whole other beast compared to random G1 character of the day where it’s not guaranteed they’d do well (part of that I swear is that many fans don’t actually like Japanese transformers thinking it’s too silly for the brand)
Hasbro is no where near a trillion dollar company (its worth about 8 billion) and they do it not because they cant afford to, they just dont want to make a bunch of stock that isnt gonna sell, you really need to know a few things before you post uneducated rants because youre angry you couldnt afford it, no one cares enough to comvince you, but there are facts that you can either like or not
5:57 This is intentionally funny💀
Man I can't wait deathsaurus
The thing about this set is I can’t be mad at anything nitpicks cause I’m holding a victory saber for the first time ever
Star saber was a holy grail for me as a kid, so seeing this great set come out makes me so happy
I've seen some eBay prices that aren't as bad. They're bad, but not $500 bad. So I'm gonna wait till I get a paycheck and hopefully grab one that's $300 or less.
LG-EX Grand Maximus had under 3 thousand made and no qc issues. The figure was double retail. The qc got cut back on to make even more money. I got a hair under the foil stamp and the foil stamp has been damaged there is paint splashes all over the place. We all paid alot and I mean alot for that figure and at that cost the quality should of been spot on. This mold was designed back in potp days leaving Thunderwing as the only fan vote we have not gotten. In total they got how much money and they skimped with the better qc that might of been the difference of 5 to 10 grand overall or about 50 cents more per figure at most.
Wish I had this guy. Even an older figure if posible. He's like the love child of gundam and transformers. Would be cool and also very ironic to release a core class of star saber which just simply turn from robot some weak jet so they don't have to incorporate everything.
ill sell you my masterpiece if you want

I’ve waited an eternity for this…
2:58 broOoo! My Saber has the nose painted on the sides and bottom! It actually looks like a visor! (It might be just a little detail, but it just looks way better); I just noticed that while re-watching your review! 😵💫
QC grrrrr....😢
Really enjoying mine. Only issue I've had is with the micromaster but I ain't exactly fussed about them. I think you missed that his shoulders have a double butterfly joint on them I didn't realise at first. They bend in like you showed and then have a second hinge to move out a little. Bit of a shame the arms can't lift up higher. Feels like the side of the shoulder stacks should have hinged up a little to allow for that.
Hmm..was bummed I didn't back this....now not so much..I'll just spend the Xtra and go 3rd party..
I'm in Australia, and instead of buying it from a local retailer like I did with Unicron, or using a local community like Ozformers which helps people get foreign exclusives, I got him directly from Pulse and got him sent to a parcel-forwarding service. The shipping, is, frankly, INSANE. I'm dreading the prospect of getting one with QC issues, as even if Hasbro replaces it, the cost to actually get those replacement parts out to me is... not gonna be cheap. ;_;
It's too late for Deathsaurus, but for next year's Haslab, I'd definitely advise that people get them local.
Got this guy today, and unfortunately got a QC issue where one of the tab holes for the sword hilt in jet mode was literally sealed shut, but apart from that this dude is a blast to mess with!
i hate these are haslab and NOT part of the main line, we could easily had Star as a Commander and Lio as a Voyager
16:00 you can untap Victory Leo's half of the "foot form", and NOW you have a lot of ankle movement for posing, when he's attached to Star Saber 🎉
people don't have an issue with stickers its why toyhax is so successful they have an issue with cheap shit stickers which are the only ones hasbro ever uses also i am shocked about the amount of people not pointing out how his shoulders are static when moving out only his bicep moves it looks so fucking weird and even the art on the box shows his shoulders going out its just weird how no one has an issue with weirdly limited articulation
It is good relative to its price. This isn't premium, it's just an expensive CHUG set. It seems to have a higher proportion of QC misses.
I hope every copy yellows. Is it because I’m jealous? YES!
Beta.
@@_V.Va_ YES!
How come you didn't atach the shield to the top of the fully combined mode? I really dont understand why the shield was a tier unlock as that shield once attached in combined mode makes it look more screen accurate. Baffles me why they did that because if it didnt unlock i think it would have looked weird
They never explained the brain masters are humans ore nebulos citizen like most head master power master target master characters
They try to induct a Japanese toy into the transformers toyline and it looks sooooo out of place.... Gundam toyline in my opinion.
I love my Victory Saber and cant wait for Deathsaurus but those stickers are lame for a HasLab. Lio's wings are the same exact plastic so they gave us a lame excuse.
"unpaintable plastic" my ass, I used paint markers I bought from Amazon, and I'm gonna keep an eye on it to see if the wings start paint chipping.
I have a shipping number as soon as they started pumping them out so idk how people haven't gotten emails
This was a very confusing review. It sounded like you didn’t like it about half the time. As for the dumb stickers, they painted one part of the wing and required cheap stickers for the part right next to it. Haslab is proving that their tiers aren’t adding value to the star of the show. The exposed screws and lack of panels, to cover up unsightly sections shows, they don’t even care much about the star.
The plastic differences is why one is painted and the other isn’t, the wings aren’t made from the same plastic. What unsightly areas are you talking about other than screw holes?
figures have screw holes, get over it, its not a big deal their all in the back anyways
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer For this price they should have used gap fillers for the legs and, for that many screw holes, should have used covers to plug them. It looks horrible to me. The Victory Leo literally has exposed fists, in transformation mode. These should have hinged-pane covers like an upscale/MP would have. The wings seem to be the same type of plastic so I still don't know why they decided on the crappiest, cheapest color-correction stickers instead of just painting them or, at least, using a vinyl sticker. The paper stickers are going to come off anyway. The minicons are falling apart and practically useless for play. The solution should not be to wait for Toyhax to fix the problems. Hasbro makes some good figures sometimes but they are inconsistent. The quality of this Victory Saber clearly doesn't match the price and Haslab will keep overcharging doing if people continue to validate it.
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 The back transforms into the top of the ship. But nobody would display it in Transformation mode right? Nobody sees the top of the vehicle mode right?
I got so desperate after the Star Saber campaign ended, I spent $420 to get one off of eBay and should be at my house within the week
Same, I feel your pain bro
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 we shall go down in style, Japanese style
The worst thing about legacy saber is his articulation. horrible shoulder and ankle designs. that really hurts while saber is a melee weapon character
There is a lot of people with IQ issues. besides the gold issue, there are people with missing pins, scratches, two left/right parts. Come on Hasbro
Not sure if you’ll see this, but is the blue handle on the sword supposed to click in or something? Whenever I try to put the sword into his hand, the blue peg pushes back in and I have to pull it out again.
Yes. You have to pull hard on the handle but it clicks in place. Took me a bit to discover that
@@ThatToyGuy ah yeah I figured. I’m hesitant to use too much force since I don’t want to break anything. I assume there is a “clicking” sound when it clicks into place right?
Yeah it makes a sound. It's not a loud click but you'll feel it
@@ThatToyGuy alright. I guess it must take a lot of force.
The only major gripes I have are the back legs of victory leo were loose (I tightened them up slightly) and I have not been able to find storage for the blade...
