Your comments made with obvious joy about the drummer, Akane, made me chuckle. One reactor describes her as "sticks and teeth" and now I can't get it out of my head (Monq TV). Great job isolating this from your J-Rock live stream. Loved that too BTW, but this reaction was so excellent it deserves to stand on its own.
The reason why they crowd towards the drummer was because they were trying to throw her off rhythm by making faces at her. It's part of the the fun they try to have while playing at concerts. She's that good.
The part where Miku (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Kanami (lead guitar) and MISA (bass) go back and gather in front of the drummer is a bit of a game they play. The other members will make faces at Akane (drummer) to see if they can get her laughing and cause her to mess up!
Band Maid has one of the best song writer and composer in Kanami Tono, the lead guitarist, that I have ever seen. She is a bottomless well of imagination and creativity. That only makes it more impressive when you factor in the incredible musical talent in the rest of the band.
It's not often that our dear Saiki gets so much attention in someone's first reaction. Thanks for that! I'm really happy about it, because she is indeed a fantastic vocalist and has a tremendous stage presence. She is as much a fundamental pillar in the construct of this band as any of the ladies. The talent of all of them seems limitless and for many this band is the best the rock genre has seen and heard in decades. And who am I to argue with that? :) You will be surprised how versatile the ladies are and what an adventurous journey you have started. As the next stop on this trip down the pigeon-hole, I simply recommend 'Wonderland' from their channel, which underlines my last sentence and also lets you hear more from Saiki. Greetings from the German Maidiac division. :) _____________________ 【 _Our rock never dies ever. Forever!_ 】- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊️
If you want to hear an epic drum solo you should react to Freedom live. If you want to hear some of their recent music check out Warning or Different or After life. They have over 100 songs and none of them suck. They are all bangers. They also have some acoustic performances that are amazing. They have a song called Puzzle that they do acoustic. You can really hear the lead singer's (Saiki) range.
These ladies are killers. A lot of their music sits on that line of rock and metal, but they also do rock ballads and recently did an acoustic show that is just amazing. The drums (double bass petals) and bass (5 string and just unreal nasty) have a very metal feel while the guitars have a very rock feel for much of their music.
? The drums sound like those in a marching band, rich and full, the bass has a full sound too, besides that Misa plays jazz, in a rock band. What kind of metal do you listen to?
@@5Melig What? The "rich full" sound is just the mix, stand in the practice room and you will hear what you always hear in a practice room, the drums overshadowing everything else. Her style shares nearly nothing with common marching band styles of play. Bass patterns are wrong, snare patterns are wrong, toms are wrong, literally all of it differs from what you usually find in a marching band. Akane also uses a lot of skank beats. Something common in both punk and metal, hers takes a more metal sound due to how she uses her double kick and a double petal being uncommon in punk. "Misa plays jazz", you are aware that a musician is able to play more than one type of music right? Besides, jazz and blues influences are common in all forms of music, to include metal. Her ability to smoothly transition between a pick, slap, and finger would make her a shoe in for a groove metal band or a prog metal band.
@@Ephem13 I did not say her way of playing, I said her sound, and be that mixing or tuning or something unknown, it is still her choice, and I like it. And yes, there are more bands who use jazz influences, so? I was trying to tell you that 'metal' is a misnomer, according to them. But in a not too blunt manner. Didn't succeed, obviously.
@@5Melig go back and listen to the original BM video release. That heavy bass is not there. I think the reactors increased the bass themselves, maybe for personal flavor.
I thought you guys brought such a nice intellectual approach to this, not just the generic dumbfounded face that's so common in reaction videos. Thank you for doing BAND-MAID.
@@richardgamache1 Miku is always tripping or falling on something. The rest of the band thinks she is a complete klutz, always covered with bruises. LOL
Welcome to Band-Maid! Great reaction - true awe and joy while absorbing the finer musical points of understanding on what you were seeing and hearing. They are the real deal as you said 🔥 Truly, we are so lucky to live in a world in which Band Maid exist! I know of no better rock band on planet earth 🌏 today - in instrumentation, composition, songwriting, arrangement, playing and performance. They are on par with the best classic rock bands and you’ll see that as you explore their catalog more deeply. They combine elements of all rock genres so effortlessly it is scary! They play and arrange like Rush but rock like AC/DC or Soundgarden while songwriting like Eagles or The Beatles, singing like Pat Benator or The Bee Gees, sounding more modern like Alter Bridge or The Black Keys, soloing like Santana, John Entwistle or Keith Moon - I don’t know it just crazy how good they are. In fact, they are probably really not like anyone - they are best described as 💯 percent their own invention, and it’s one heck of a creation! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Welcome to the Pigeon hole, spread the word and the love and Rock On 🤘🏼
MISA! MISA! MISA! Holding the line in solid Guitar Rock, Band Maid has picked up the Mantel of Rock'n'Roll where the West has left it behind. More Band Maid Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Greatest live band on the planet. ANY of their official live videos are best. Start with manners/black hole (2 songs) then catharsis acoustic video then wonderland & another twofer, dice/different. If u havent, check out the warning from mexico. Start with disciple official video. Then choke & animosity live session. Real nice reaction. Best reactors that I've seen in awhile. Thnx.
Best Rock band in the World!!Miku Kaboto (Red Flower) created the band in 2013. Internationally breakout in 2015 with the MV "Thrill". Miku had worked in a Maid Cafe and came with a of band maids playing "Cool Music". The maid costumes are to create "the Gap", meaning the difference what you are seeing demure maids vs what you are hearing Rock music. The gap is popular in Japan. Now for the best news; they are scheduled to Tour the US this year!!
They dress as maids hence the name Band-MAID. And the reason the three of them were in front of the drums at one point was because they like to mess with eachother to see if they can get the other one to laugh and throw them off. They are basically a bunch of goofballs and like to make eachother and the audience laugh all the time while slaying their instruments. They are simply the best.
I love Band-Maid so much! To hear a completely different (softer) side of the band, listen to their acoustic version of "Catharsis" or to their live version of "about Us." To hear them go all out and really show the full range of their abilities, listen to "No God" or "Black Hole." (All of these are live videos that are on the band's official YT channel.)
For their "softer" but not acoustic numbers; Anemone, Daydreaming. It sounds like we are simping but take it from we rock veterans, they are Saikō no! And many of the vids on their channel have subtitles in English.
Really cool you reacted to Band-Maid! You two really know what you are talking about and it is always nice to learn something new about my favorite band. I am sure you will find a lot of songs that you will fall in love with by this band. They are unique and their style is fun, enjoyable, on a very high level and the most versatile i know! Started to watch and subbed when you covered the whole BTS Blackpink Sohyang and jessi or even BigBang (my all-time fav since 2009) ..CL Hyolyn Jpark mamamoo hyuna...all my fav kpop band/idol/rapper....but Japan took me over for any rock/metal genres ..but what makes me love more is ..the only band who naturally "force" me to get their whole discographies definitely Band-Maid for sure (since 2016)😅 physical and both digitally coz some early few mini album hard to get/pricey) some BABYMATEL lives shows only ( worth it)and Scandal ( couple of 2 albums coz known them back then (2010ish maybe🤔)coz of anime they've covered Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood )....well the only physical kpop i had was vinyl (1) from Blackpink 😅🤣 From my standpoint of view.... Band-Maid won me over on collecting their merchandise ( well t-shirts😚) and albums coz I'ma guitarist and a rockin lady(lol) sooooo much impressed with their musicianship and instrumentalists as a band.... Songwriting skills ( thank you ..you genius Kanami Tono- sensei)and lyricist (Pigeon Po Kobato-san) they are tight as hell with the MAIDs outfits (destroying every path on stage with instruments and performance) Songs arrangements ( just makes me truly listen and keep on thinking "wha" each on every part of it.. musically and instrumentally). That took down and "drained" my bank account 🤣but worth it..hell yeah
They do funny faces to the drummer, and the drummer tries to do funne face back. Just to have fun! This band has tons of fun when they are on stage! ANd the drummer... doublekick in 220BPM in the song Rinne...
Its about time youll be reacting to Japanese Rock, basically I've grew up to this music beside Kpop.. In my opinion Korea is leading in Pop while Japan has been leading in terms of Rock Genre.. Please do react to Love Bites = Set the World on Fire and Nemophilia = Raitei these are all girls bands as well..
This is such a quality reaction video - thank you for sharing your insights, observations, and opinions. Band Maid have about 9 years of material and their sound has progressed and evolved over the years but most fans can probably agree on at least one thing - live concert videos are great and fun.
If you really want to see some of Akane's best drumming watch either the OMV for 'Rinne', or especially watch 'Freedom' LIVE. That has an extended drum solo.
After listening to them for the first time with this video, I just happened to hear their live performance of Freedom as it came up on a recommendation. And I came immediately here to second other people’s comments that you would love the drum solo! I really hope you decide to take a look at it.
I love your reaction on Band-Maid. I saw them live, in Chicago at the House of Blues this last 11/1/22. It was the best show I have ever been to. The girl in this video said she loved anime. You should check out their new song "Unleash". It shows the girls in anime. Also, their instrumental, "From Now On" is one of the best, ever. Keep Rocking you two!!!
It never occurred to me that she was an alto, but of cause she is. Thanks for pointing that out, clearly my vocal brain has been sleeping through my BAND-MAID time.
Nice reaction guys. Welcome to the glorious world of Band-Maid. I am an old man from west Texas and I have loved rock music for 50+ years. I don't speak a word of Japanese but I believe this is the best rock/metal band on the planet. They simply don't have bad songs but a good next reaction would be their double live video for "Manners/Black Hole", enjoy !
These girls are more hard rock, but NEMOPHILA is an amazing good all-female metal band. I suggest you check them out if you like these girls. Then there’s the amazing talent of LOVEBITES. The super heavy metal from Hanabie. Lots of good all-female bands from Japan.
Thanks for a great and thoughtful reaction. I think you would really enjoy another song from Band Maid. If you want something that covers both their more jazzy, mellow-ish side and shows off just how fast they can go, give Manners/Black Hole (live) a try. Band Maid is simply an amazing band.
Japan has many great all female bands. Try next, ”Heavy Metal Heavy Weight Champion (super talented)" called Lovebites. My recommendation is "Glory to the World"🐺

Just found you guys and I really loved your reaction. This is a band worth exploring they truely don’t have a bad song, if you want to see there drummer (Akane) kick ass watch Black Hole live it will blow you away. The 2 of you have great chemistry and I just subscribed to see more. Rock on and much respect from NYC
Welcome to the chaos!!! Welcome to BAND-MAID!!! Please react to their songs DICE and Warning. Those two songs are absolutely insane! Also, watch their live performance of their Freedom if you think the drummer, Akane, is absolutely cracked!
Best hard rock band in the world ! These girls are for real and they are striving for world "Domination" Please play more =) "Real Existence" Live "Play" Live or "Dice" MV Great Reaction / New Subscriber✌🤘
Someone else may have pointed it out already, but the reason the guitarists gathered around the drummer was because they were all making faces at her. It is a Japanese game called hengao which means "strange face". So they were all just trying to get each other to laugh. If you watch Band-Maid's Play video at around the two and a half minute mark, you can see Saiki (the singer) making faces at Akane (the drummer) who responds and you can kind of hear her voice quiver a little as she tries to keep singing while trying not to laugh.
Great reaction! Band Maid is one of the best rock bands around . Please also react to a Japanese all female band called Lovebites, one of the best metal bands in the world .
Welcome to BAND-MAID ! May I suggest "Freedom" (Official Live video) next ? Members (first names in capital letters) Atsumi SAIKI : Lead Vocals (she wears blue rose in her hair) Kobato MIKU : Rhythm Guitars, Vocals, lyricist, band founder (she wears red rose in her hair) Toono KANAMI : Lead Guitars, composer MISA : Bass Hirose AKANE : Drums, band leader
PS - There are lyrics on the video as subtitles. There are also lyrics on all the videos on their YT channel from the last couple of years. They are usually a lot deeper than most too!
Yeah, I was also, like, "Guys, why do you look at that Google translation at JapaneseOneStopLyrics 🤦♂️ Just press that CC button under the video!" Official translations are so much better. That guy, Simon R. Wallis, is a very good translator. And obviously, he works together with Miku on rendering the meaning in the best possible way, so, it's like an official interpretation of the Miku's poetry.
@@VladimirChupin It was their first time so hopefully they'll be aware now for future reactions. Talking of translations...I posted a video yesterday of 'Don't Let Me Down' but with subtitles that I inserted. I've recently been trying out my new Photoshop 2022 - my second best xmas present after Band-Maid's acoustic xmas day treat! - and a subtitling platform called Kapwing too so decided to use the DLMD MV as a test. It came out OK and PonyCanyon seem fine about it so far. What's amazing is that, even though this is, I think, the only song they've sung completely in English, not many people seemed to know the lyrics. After scouring several sites, and a bit of editing, I seemed to have the definitive version and used that. Be interested to know what you think! ua-cam.com/video/H_ytotGOU8U/v-deo.html
@@tonygriffin_ You may end up like Akane with your "definitive version" findings. "Koba-sama, Sai-chan, you're singing it wrong!" 😂 Thanks for the link, I'll watch it immediately!
When I look at Japanese bands such as BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, and WAGAKKIBAND, I sometimes feel the following paradox. "There is no music field in Japan such as rock and metal." It means that the image of rock and metal that Japanese people think may be different from the image of rock and metal that Europeans and Americans think. (Because I am Japanese, I may not understand the way of thinking of foreigners correctly) Many Japanese recognize rock as "music that allows you to freely enjoy your favorite sounds in your favorite style." The only rule is that the music is free from preconceived ideas and interference. Half a century ago, The Beatles overturned the conventional wisdom and stereotypes of music. The claim they shouted is simple. "Music must not be tied up. It must be free!" I think that Japan still faithfully inherits the basic principle of "rock = music that you can enjoy freely without being bound". In Japan, there is no self-control or interference such as "the person who plays rock must have a style like ****" and "rock needs performance like ****". From such an environment, rock music that is fused with POP / R & B / folk and classical music is often played and composed. There are various types of musical instruments to use. In extreme cases, there are also karaoke-style rock bands that do not use musical instruments. (In Japan, it may just happen that the music style created in this way is categorized as "I think it's rock", "No, it's POP" or "Maybe it's metal" ...) On the other hand, is the soundness of the idea of "rock = music that can be enjoyed freely without being bound" sufficiently protected in today's Europe and the United States? Have people who were enthusiastic about rock music in the past trapped their current rock / metal in stereotypes? It would be a shame if young people were moving away from rock / metal with this new stereotype ... (I apologize if my perception is wrong) From Japan * Sentences using a translation app. If you have a strange translation, please laugh.
If you turn on subtitles, the translation is pretty good on those. It's not available in all their videos, unfortunately, but it is in most of the recent ones.
This is in a way their anthem as the band's motto is to "take over the world". Hence, the name of the song "Domination" and the album World Domination. So simply put the lyrics are telling their fans to support, don't let others hold you back, follow your dreams and join their journey to world domination.
You guys hit some good points about the band. They perform like this consistently for 8+ years now. You will not find a band with the synergy, diversity, dynamics, power and FUN that Band-Maid gives you. No egos in this band. Every member is a featured player. Band-Maid has done several songs for anime. They have 2 featured songs in the Netflix film KATE including a cameo appearance. Also a featured song in the new HBOMAX series Peacemaker. :)
You will be surprised how versatile the ladies are and what an adventurous journey you have started. As the next stop on this trip down the pigeon-hole, I simply recommend 'Wonderland' from their channel, which underlines my last sentence and also lets you hear more from Saiki.
Greetings from the German Maidiac division. :)

I highly suggest every song in their discography. Choose and watch, you won’t be dissatisfied with anything.
Yes.
Band Maid has a way of making rock/metal/pop songs with but without the same song formulas.
I thought you guys brought such a nice intellectual approach to this, not just the generic dumbfounded face that's so common in reaction videos. Thank you for doing BAND-MAID.
The fun thing about the guitar battle between Miku and Mincho is that they are 5' and 5'1" respectively. TINY DYNAMITE!
The fun part is Miku is playing so hard she falls on her butt at the end ...
@@richardgamache1 Miku is always tripping or falling on something. The rest of the band thinks she is a complete klutz, always covered with bruises. LOL
Wonderland, Rinne, Blooming, Secret my lips.Alone.Saiki is the lead singer.
Welcome to Band-Maid! Great reaction - true awe and joy while absorbing the finer musical points of understanding on what you were seeing and hearing. They are the real deal as you said 🔥
Truly, we are so lucky to live in a world in which Band Maid exist!
Welcome to the Pigeon hole, spread the word and the love and Rock On 🤘🏼
Please check their live video for Manners / Black Hole. It's cool.
Yes, I concur!
MISA! MISA!
The best live rock band on the planet. All bow down to the power of Tiny Hat-san.
You always can react to an LIVE performance, but there are also a lot of cool MV like Blooming or Daydreaming. Have a good one and it was a joy to watch your reaction! Greetings from Germany
P.S.: A lot of videos have subtitles as well JFYI
Welcome to the Maidiacs! It never gets old watching people get their minds blown by the incredible ladies of BAND MAID. Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the huge iceberg of musical greatness. Some song suggestions: Onset (instrumental), Play, Freedom (Awesome drum solo!) - All live, because that's when they're at their best! Thanks! 😁
Great reaction It's nice seeing people really appreciate the greatness of this band The drummer is going to love Akane You also need to watch some of their acoustic live performances
I have you're happy to watch your reaction.^^
This 「DOMINATION」 is also good , but「BAND-MAID / DICE (Official Music Video)」
is also cool, so please watch and tell us your impressions.
Her name is Tono, Kanami Tono. And she eats guitar solos for breakfast. Band Maid since 2013, making rock and roll great again ! Keep them coming. There's plenty more great songs from them where that came from !
BAND-MAID!!! Woohoo!!!! ^_^ More Band-Maid reactions, please ^_^ Try "Daydreaming" song from them as well, both the official MV as well as the live version.

Also watch BAND-MAID's onset, it's just mind blowing!
So refreshing to see a reaction video with actual content! I love that you know what you're talking about, I love how well you express it. That, in combination with the awesomeness of Band-Maid, easy 10/10. Keep it up!
Great reaction! Thanks! BAND MAID Rocks! 🤘🏻
Greatest rock/hard rock band in the world
Very nice reaction. Thx. Gracias. 👍
More BAND-MAID reactions! I love this band even if I just discovered them last year ❤️
At last reactors i follow and admire reacting to these fabulous girls women.Bandmaid kill. All of them revive rock, all in one.Saiki singing,Misa on bass ,Akane on drums,Miku on guitar rythm, and Kanami on lead guitar. They´re really dominating
Started to watch and subbed when you covered the whole BTS Blackpink Sohyang and jessi or even BigBang (my all-time fav since 2009) ..CL Hyolyn Jpark mamamoo hyuna...all my fav kpop band/idol/rapper....but Japan took me over for any rock/metal genres ..but what makes me love more is ..the only band who naturally "force" me to get their whole discographies definitely Band-Maid for sure (since 2016)😅 physical and both digitally coz some early few mini album hard to get/pricey)
some BABYMATEL lives shows only ( worth it)and Scandal ( couple of 2 albums coz known them back then (2010ish maybe🤔)coz of anime they've covered Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood )....well the only physical kpop i had was vinyl (1) from Blackpink 😅🤣
From my standpoint of view.... Band-Maid won me over on collecting their merchandise ( well t-shirts😚) and albums coz I'ma guitarist and a rockin lady(lol) sooooo much impressed with their musicianship and instrumentalists as a band.... Songwriting skills ( thank you ..you genius Kanami Tono- sensei)and lyricist (Pigeon Po Kobato-san) they are tight as hell with the MAIDs outfits (destroying every path on stage with instruments and performance)
Songs arrangements ( just makes me truly listen and keep on thinking "wha" each on every part of it.. musically and instrumentally).
PLEASE do freedom.
Your reaction is so good.
This is such a quality reaction video - thank you for sharing your insights, observations, and opinions.
Band Maid have about 9 years of material and their sound has progressed and evolved over the years but most fans can probably agree on at least one thing - live concert videos are great and fun.
I was at their show in Dallas in 2019. Utterly amazing show. One of my favorte groups ever.
If you really want to see some of Akane's best drumming watch either the OMV for 'Rinne', or especially watch 'Freedom' LIVE. That has an extended drum solo.
If you want to see The drummer at her current fastest look up their live video for no god / black hole. Blackhole is a chaotic catchy fast song
After listening to them for the first time with this video, I just happened to hear their live performance of Freedom as it came up on a recommendation. And I came immediately here to second other people’s comments that you would love the drum solo! I really hope you decide to take a look at it.
3:18 The three of them gave the drummer a funny look.
They are having fun interrupting the drummer's performance.
Great reaction! Great band!!
THEY SAY THAT IF A COUNTRY PRODUCES ENOUGH ANIME SOME OF IT WILL COME TO LIFE.
Truth. Miku is an anime protagonist IRL. Her main arc towards World Domination continues...
I absolutely LOVE watching people discover Band-Maid....
Japan has many great all female bands. Try next, ”Heavy Metal Heavy Weight Champion (super talented)" called Lovebites. My recommendation is "Glory to the World"🐺
Only found this reaction this evening.
You guys do a really great job of analysis while enjoying what you're watching. I enjoyed the music (I'm a newl minted Maidiac), your clear and concise analysis, and your banter.
Thouroughly enjoyed watching.
BAND-MAID聴いてくれて、ありがとー✨
oh wow, this is unexpected, my fav band :D
you guys should check their songs :D
You are now Hooked..Welcome to our world...They are Band-Maid, We are Maidiacs!!!
Members (first names in capital letters)
Atsumi SAIKI : Lead Vocals (she wears blue rose in her hair)
Kobato MIKU : Rhythm Guitars, Vocals, lyricist, band founder (she wears red rose in her hair)
Toono KANAMI : Lead Guitars, composer
MISA : Bass
Hirose AKANE : Drums, band leader
And now you´d may go to PLAY,FREEDOM,ONSET,DICE,DON´T YOU TELL ME,PUZZLE(acoustic)
PS - There are lyrics on the video as subtitles. There are also lyrics on all the videos on their YT channel from the last couple of years. They are usually a lot deeper than most too!
Yeah, I was also, like, "Guys, why do you look at that Google translation at JapaneseOneStopLyrics 🤦♂️ Just press that CC button under the video!"
Official translations are so much better.
"Koba-sama, Sai-chan, you're singing it wrong!" 😂
Thanks for the link, I'll watch it immediately!
@@VladimirChupin I couldn't be like Akane for lots of reasons (apart from that one maybe) but mostly because I don't like ramen!
@@tonygriffin_ Kaiten Sushi, maybe? 30 plates?
When I look at Japanese bands such as BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, and WAGAKKIBAND, I sometimes feel the following paradox.
"There is no music field in Japan such as rock and metal."
It means that the image of rock and metal that Japanese people think may be different from the image of rock and metal that Europeans and Americans think. (Because I am Japanese, I may not understand the way of thinking of foreigners correctly)
Many Japanese recognize rock as "music that allows you to freely enjoy your favorite sounds in your favorite style." The only rule is that the music is free from preconceived ideas and interference.
Half a century ago, The Beatles overturned the conventional wisdom and stereotypes of music. The claim they shouted is simple.
"Music must not be tied up. It must be free!"
I think that Japan still faithfully inherits the basic principle of "rock = music that you can enjoy freely without being bound".
(In Japan, it may just happen that the music style created in this way is categorized as "I think it's rock", "No, it's POP" or "Maybe it's metal" ...)
On the other hand, is the soundness of the idea of "rock = music that can be enjoyed freely without being bound" sufficiently protected in today's Europe and the United States? Have people who were enthusiastic about rock music in the past trapped their current rock / metal in stereotypes?
It would be a shame if young people were moving away from rock / metal with this new stereotype ...
(I apologize if my perception is wrong)
From Japan
* Sentences using a translation app.
You're Fantastic to watch thanks for the review

Akane is so talented her fills are legendary but If you want pure pedal speed you need either Blooming, Rinne or Black Hole.

Poise for greatness they are planning a US tour this year. BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.

Very perceptive of you on the costumes. Maid culture started in Japan as a branch of cosplay.
They all stand around Akane, the drummer, to make faces at her to try to break her concentration...........and they never do !
Great reaction to a fantastic band. Over 100 songs and no stinkers. Easily one of the best live bands in the world today.
Coming to Dallas October the 21st and then to Houston I think they're doing some stuff up North first but they'll be in the United States in October
