@@pp37903 It's weird but i miss Grandstand but don't miss the sports they used to show, horse racing, cricket, rugby, athletics and golf can all bore off lol
This is messing with my mind. I thought Grandstand as we all knew it finished in the mid 90’s?? Cant remember it being proper Grandstand all the way to 2007?
It ended on 28th January 2007; it seemed that a lot of long-running TV programmes were axed in 2006/7:- this, weekly TOTP (30/7/06) & Saturday morning kids' shows (1/7/06); 3 long serving British institutions gone in a short space of time.
They promise so much to look forward to on BBC Sport on the closing titles, yet year by year their sport output has got lesser and lesser. It's about time they had adverts on programmes and scrapped the criminal TV license.
Sky stole the BBC's clothing with shows such as Soccer AM and Soccer Saturday....and the BBC's sports output got lamer and lamer...the end of an era, but the Beeb must evolve and has been bidding for other events recently...i still like what coveragw they do have very much
They'd have football results and that's about it. The rest would be filled with gymnastics, athletics, judo, netball, table tennis. Basically stuff no other broadcaster would touch. It would be completely unfeasible.
Claire seems to be at an indoor bowls centre which might be why grandstand ended
The beginning of the end for Saturdays
Goodbye, Grandstand! It was fun while it lasted! :)
😀😄🙂
The end of an era Saturday afternoon has never been the same since grandstand ended.
“There’s plenty to look forward to on BBC Sport”
There’s fuck all on there now. Only watch it for Olympics, World Cup and the Euro’s
Philip J Fry Amen!

@@lovemykiss9 oh, you'd like my lip, wouldn't you?

Grandstand and World Of Sport were Saturday afternoons. Now got all nonsense on tv
I used to get driven out the house by wall to wall sport all afternoon, it bored me to death. So glad it's gone.

Yes, bring back Grandstand and World of Sport. Fred and Dickie are still alive and well.

There's The Masked Singer, Takeaway, BGT, The Voice & Strictly which are very popular shows.

The 1970's, 1960's and 1950's too.
sad
Stupid to get rid of it. I’m sure they could have kept it in some form.
Trouble us thanks to Sky the BBC dudn't have enough rights to sport coverage to fill 30 min never mind 5 hours or so

Womens equivalent events of the same sports. It doesn't have to be all the men's. It's not the men's or nothing.
@@dvidclapperton I never implied it was - it was you who made the distinction, not I.
