  • Via Rail 47 eases to a stop at the Via Rail station in Brockville, Ontario. Train 47 originated in Ottawa, and is bound for Union Station in Toronto
Led by 901, a General Electric P42DC locomotive, generating 4140 horsepower, the train has a matching set of four stainless steel coaches. The stainless steel cars used in the Windsor-Quebec City Corridor were built in the late 1940s to mid 1950s, for several different railroads. The first three coaches in this train came to Via Rail in the late 1980s/early 1990s from Amtrak, the national passenger railroad in the United States, while the last coach came from Canadian Pacific and was conveyed to Via Rail upon it's creation.
I wasn't terribly pleased with this video. I felt the viewing angle was too oblique, and that the shadows were too strong. While the train was boarding passengers, I scurried to the other side of the tracks to see if things were any better there. You can see the results in my video Via Rail 47 @ Brockville ON - May 20 2024 (Departing).
