A remarkable album. In early 1978 I remember watching Talking Heads live on the BBC's "Old Grey Whistle Test" TV show just a week or so after I'd heard "77" for the first time. They performed an astonishing, expanded version of "Psycho Killer" which emphasized the groove of the song, hinting at the funk and Afro beat they would later explore. Great stuff.
I've got the 5.1 dvd audio mixed by Jerry Harrison and Doug Sax. An lp that has a special place in my heart as my brother who has since passed on and I bonded to that record.
I co-shared a house with my friend Robert - he managed Platterpuss Records (SM). This album was passed around at a few parties, and I heard one comment that stuck - "Talking Feet". Thanks, Mazzy !
I was lucky enough to see Talking Heads at the Bodega in Campbell, Ca. in the 1970s. Eddie and the Hot Rods where the opening band...Good Musical Memories!!
I've got that Once in a Lifetime set too. Absolutely bizarre design that falls apart easily, lol. Maybe the point. I removed the discs and put into envelopes so I don't disturb it too much. lol.
I like it with the missing puzzle piece :¬) I bought several of the T Heads 5.1 remixes from the early 2000's & the packaging is nice, but modest, with some interesting notes from Chris Franz, who assisted with the remix. They are quite lively sounding & include some alternate mixes as bonus cuts. A downside is that the American versions were in an odd, 2-sided format that doesn't play on all machines even though it's supposed to be compatible. I don't have the album Mazzy showed because I was a bit late to the T Heads party, probably more interested in Wall of Voodoo & XTC at the time!
Way overpriced, box set. I will just DL the CBGB set, off of UA-cam, on Friday. Already have the record, like millions of others. It is a GREAT Record though.
Must be great having you as a neighbour, all that great music.

'77 is still my favourite Heads album. Something about its uniqueness and vocal energy I believe.

Hey Mazzy, Great breakdown and review. Such an iconic album. Cheers
I ❤ Talking Heads music! I have a used Canadian pressing of Talking Heads 77. I like the last track Pulling Up.
You didn't get the vinyl deluxe box Mazzy?? Saw TH in June 1979, still great memories of that show
Didn’t get the vinyl set
They did the 5.1 dvd audio brick. Single 5.1 dvd audios were also released. I have the 4 I wanted. But would love to have got the brick.
That 5.1 brick must be what I was referring to. Thanks ✌🏼
"Talking Heads", no THE - refer The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads. Just saying... Excellent review though!
Does anyone know what the new Vinyl pressings like?
Do you think they are the first to start the new wave scene Mazzy??
One of a handful of groups. They certainly were original.
Now we’re talking. Could not have made a better selection in our Post Election Enviornment✅
✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
So the expensive Vinyl set lacks the Surround mix?
🤓✌🏼
Did you purchase at Amazon, or a local Seattle store?
I believe as an influencer he asks to have these sent to him. Smart!
Got the CD set from Rhino. Bought the others.
@@mazzysmusicpromo man didn't have one for you? What about the under assistant west coast promotion man?! 😉

Streaming is cheap as an option
