UPDATE: After careful consideration reading your comments, delving back into distant memories, and consultation with a GOATed influencer from Tenncom, I am moving the Radicals into the B-Tier for comfort. They are decently jarring and definitely not as comfortable as other rackets in the A-Tier.
I have the current Rad and also the 2021 version. They're not uncomfortable but neither should they ever be in a comfortable racquet tier list ever.
Hi
I like your videos in general but I have one question :
Why you never talk about Prince ?
In this tier list, the phantom line is S+ tier in my opinion
Radicals are terrible all round
The 2023 radical is the stiffest racket I have ever played with 😅
Super comfortable, and super, you know, underpowered, great for rally, maybe not for comp
Hey great video as usual 😊 would love to see a video update on your personal rackets of choice!
I’ve heard you say a lot of positives about the aero 98, but never got the feel you’d actually switch to it?
Also very interested to hear if you did switch to the percept 97 in the end…
All the best!
Hope you have a speedy recovery from injury. I find the Head Boom MP as comfortable as the Clash 100 even though it's less pillowy. No vibrations. Love it.
Thank a lot!
Love the "Racquets" hat!
All I'm seeing is that I have to demo 4 rackets in the S tier, awesome video to keep me entertained in the morning!
Thank you!
Very detailed and useful summary.
Thank you!
Excelent review! It would be nice if you make a video analyzing some rackets and what is the best string and tension for each one.
Hey, Luca!
Super fan of your content. Thank you and keep it up, mate.
One quick "interesting" question 😉
Have you tried Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 100 V13 (Eurostaff)? What grade would you give it?
I love it and feel like it plays quite like a Blade, but would love to get your take on it.
Farewell!
I have not unfortunately, it's not available for us at the moment but if it ever becomes, I'll make sure to talk about it.
Luca, quick question, what grip do you use? what grip do you find more confortable?
When I started in tennis I used the eastern grip, Now that I play more i use semi western but I developed Tennis elbow, so I'm not sure but could the grip technique affect to the comfort? or in this case recover my elbow?
I went from a 2015 Ultra 97 to a blade 98 V8. Hasn’t turned me into Federer overnight, but my arm/ elbow and shoulder are no longer in pain after playing
Very informative. I'm wondering whether the choice of string would more a racquet up/down in your tier list.
It definitely would! Strings are half the battle with comfort, if not more.
Great list! Have to (unfortunately) agree about the shift pro. But comfort isn’t why we play with it 😁
Exaclty!
I have a Prince Phantom Pro 100 (soft!) and a 2017 ezone 98 (solid feel). I like both
Hello, I am a subscriber to Rackets & Runners, watch your videos but have never commented before now. I just wanted to say, "Thank you," this was very insightful to me. I see that the rackets I gravitate towards are in "S" and "A". More importantly, your final table helps me filter out rackets I most likely would and would not enjoy given what currently works for me.
Question - I noticed there are no Solinco rackets. Does R&R not sell Solinco? Also, while the TF-40's are listed, the other Tecnifibre's are not?
We don't unfortunately. We may bring them in in the future but not right now. We're sold out of the other Tecnifibre rackets but I should have included them.
one of my friends currently started to feel some discomfort and asked me for some suggestion on new rackets
new reference just in time!
Love your videos and usually don’t comment but I had several (mild) beefs with this one. I think the strike (at least 3rd gen), boom pro and ezone should be at least one tier higher. They may have higher stiffness ratings but have thoughtful designs and/or technology (larger sweet spots, excellent dampening, more flexible/thinner faces, etc) to create a very enjoyable and comfortable hitting experience. Welcome feedback on this!
I think the Boom Pro could maybe go A-tier but for the Ezone and the Strike, despite the dampening (which I agree is effective) they are still stiff and can have a rigid flex with their beam designs so you should be a little more careful. The Strike also combines that with a pretty hefty swingweight which also adds to it. But keep in mind, the B/C tier of today are nowhere near as uncomfortable as some that would have been there 10 years ago.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thanks for the reply. That is a good point about the high SW of the strike. I love your analysis of rackets and appreciate the dialogue!
I used the first strike from 2014 but after I started getting better and hitting harder, my arm started throbing with pain. However when I upgraded to the third gen strike, it all went away. So third gen is good enough for me
please do a wilson shift vs head speed video. I am working on switching rackets currerently and the shift + the speed are two rackets im looking at.
I played with the Pro versions of both and I don’t think that if you like the Speed that you would get along with the Shift. I know 3 people that used the Shift Pros but had to switch because of tennis elbow issues. Those elbow problems may have been a function of tighter strings that they used to dial in the control.
Yes, definitely one I want to do ASAP.
Will you want to try yonex regna 98 or 100? Last time I had a trip to japan, regna seem so good at the local tennis store
He already has access to it through beckett. He can make a video on it anytime he wants.
I've hit with it briefly and really liked it but can't really discuss it too much since we don't carry it.
Played with Babolat Pure Drive for 15+ years and would have intermittent elbow issues. Last bout was severe enough for me to test out other racquets. The Yonex EZone 100 plays SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable than the Pure Drive. No idea how these two could be in the same tier.
I think I whould like to see a "honestly" counter. Pretty sure it whould beat the "interesting" counter.
Lolol next tier list.
I bought a Head Speed MP legend last week and I have serious doubts about the ideal string for this racket.
I saw your review and you suggested the Head Lynx Tour, but I would like to know about other similar or better possibilities, with a little more focus on spin potential.
The Lynx Tour was not available when I bought the racquet and I strung with Yonex Poly Tour Pro and didn’t like it.
So, what do you suggest?
Solinco confidential, tru pro black knight, toroline wasabi, razor soft, hawk touch. I like a thicker gauge b/c the speed mp string pattern is very open and needs a little more control and lower launch angle
Confidential x head hawk touch at 60lbs. Amazing set up. 17g
Head Hawk Touch is a great shout or RPM Blast if you want tons of spin.
Ezone 100 should be so much higher. I tried 15 rackets while having tennis elbow type problems. Clash 105 hurt the elbow just bouncing the ball on the ground with the racket. Ezone 100 SL with the right string….comfortable to the max. This is what I finally purchased.
What about the Pro Kennex's racquetd?
Unfortunately, we don't carry them but they are apparently very comfortable.
I can watch ur clip everyday
Thank you very much!
I wouldn't put a demanding control frame in S Tier. They're comfortable as long as u play with a clean technique. As soon as you hit late or out of the sweetspot they can be quite jarring... ,)
I mean you are totally right, but Luca is not wrong at the same time hahaha
@@kentaorozco1480 He has a very basic thought around it which is fine for the avg consumer, but anyone with lots of racquet experience will simply not agree.. ,)
To be fair I didn't put a single demanding control racket in the S-Tier and explained that they are in the A-tier because of this exact reason.
The CX200 Tour is the closest to that but it's so playable at a low swingweight that I don't find it that demanding and it's super comfortable.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver I would say the CX200 Tour and Blades are def. more advanced player frames and in the wrong hands they can cause problems.. Def. A Tier, but not S for me. Gravity MP also more A Tier since it's very low powered and has almost too much flex, it's a noodle ,)
Luca, what is your UTR or NTRP rating? Would love to know
I don't have one as I haven't competed in a while.
👍🏻 Clash 100 V2 for the comfort
For the anciens
Disagree on the Radical MP - I thought you would put this in C/D tier. I played with it for a while and it plays very stiff, and one of the few frames I've used in a while that gave me tennis elbow.
i agree, radicals are way stiffer than TW lists them. I've got them measured out a lot of time (Pro/MP) and they're relatively stiff frames around 68-69 RA. U can feel this also, with full bed of poly and a small sweetspot it's by far no comfortable frame....
the radical mp is insanely stiff, it's notoriously stiff. Much higher than its stated 65ra.
Yes. It's great racket but it almost destroyed my shoulder. After swithing to CX 200 I do not have any comfort issues anymore.
Everyone has shown me the light on that one. Moved it into the B-Tier.
My birthday is in 2 weeks you think you can drop a video on the best rackets for beginners/intermediates?
Currently looking at the clash 100,blade 100 or the speed mp
We've already got a video out for beginner rackets!
Can we get a best racket teir list like overall?
Yes, I definitely can do that!
Can you review the Gravity tour
It's not available in Canada, unfortunately.
What in your opinion is a good string for vcore 100?
Poly Tour Strike!
my biggest regret is buying pd98 as my first beginner racket 😂 I had to switch after a month
It’s so hard
Interesting... I used Gravity Pro, Tour, and MP but my elbow could not handle them. Wilson Clash is definitely elbow friendly. I am so surpised that you put Gravity MP in the same level as Clash. I generally use multifilament strings due to my weak elbow..
1.25 IMO
Get well soon.
Thank you 🙏
Where you put Tfight? Same as TF40?
No, it's rated stiffer and I can say from experience that it plays much, much stiffer. Before I switched to the Ezone 98, I played with the TFight 315 (stock) and the TF40 305 (with added weight). I still have the TF40, and the Ezone 98 plays very similar to it, just with a touch more powerful serves from the Ezone. The TFight is terrific for power and spin but it's quite unforgiving and it can jar your arm on off center shots--great racket on the days when you are feeling dialed in and are on the attack but for me it's a poor racket for defending. I loved the way the TFight felt but I had so many fewer errors with the TF40 that I had to give up the TFight. If you're Iga, your results may be different! The TF40 is very forgiving, much more so than the Ezone 98. If you don't quite gel with the Radical MP or Pro or the Ezone, give the TF40 a try.
No I would say a solid tier under the TF40s.
What about Tecnifibre tfight iso rs 305 ?
A tier under the TF40s for me.
Personally very surprised you find the FX 500s that uncomfortable.
Agreed I thought the 500 tour was actually more comfortable than 80% of this list
I found it quite uncomfortable but like I said, I haven't played with it that much so maybe I was on a bad day or with a bad setup.
No mention of Prince?
We don't carry them, unfortunately.
This is all just pickleball propaganda from our resident Pickler, Luca Butt.
Agreed, down with pickleball!!!!
Reported for slander
Can't see Technifibre TFight 305 ISO
I would say a solid tier under the TF40.
Uhm, no ProKennex?
Prince Phantom is also missing.
@@sebastiandomagala9233 Yup! Though, if the subject is comfort then one thinks of ProKennex per default. The one I use (Ki Q+ Tour Pro) when I feel that tingle in the arm is outstanding when it comes to both comfort and playability.
Unfortunately, we don't carry them.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Ah, ok, so you only reviewed the ones you have in stock.
Radical higher than vcore 98? lol i played radical now play with vcore 98 its tier one comfort racquet, dumped, stabile, with hybrid string is like head speed feeling
A lot of people showed me the light so I've moved it into the B-Tier.
the racket that gets the most comments about players arm's falling off gets B tier? I was suspicious but now I am curious in the Ezone 98 again. However, it was not able to dethrone a big rival and the racket topping out my most wanted list by making this S tier and meaning the Speed MP is the biggest outlier and figuratively in class of its own! I want to demo one more than ever now. I looked through the comments and no one challenged this with the exception of one saying control rackets can't be the most comfortable rackets as well (perhaps it will break reality as we know it) and I say.. just why not!? This super racket sounds fantastic for someone in their mid 50's and still breaking polys with 2012 Roddick PD's...
Any vet players in their 50s hitting with the Speed Pro or Ezone 98? Id like to hear from you
The current Ezone 98 is pretty muted and honestly not all that uncomfortable at all I find.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Good to know thanks for the inference
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver What do you think about vcore 98 and radical 98 aux compared .. have you tried these?
Radical more comfi than Boom !??
I've moved it to B-Tier.
S = Superior
hi
Hi 👋
My dear Mozart, way too many words. 😆
no ProKennex??? invalid list.
Ставить ракетки Babolat (бедный Алькарас) выше Yonex по уровню комфорта просто смешно.
I tend to agree except for the Strike 97 which is one of the most comfortable rackets right now.
“My wife and I are the victims of the Clash 100L racket. It is extremely rigid along the upper edge and nearly caused my wife’s wrist to break (if you hold your hand continentally). She was in severe pain, which made it difficult for her to sleep.” We had to go to chiro twice to repair the broken wrist.
Sorry to hear that. Surprises me because it's usually the other way with the Clash but that's very unfortunate. Hopefully you are fully recovered now.
this list has no sense at all
