I'm looking forward to trying it out, but I don't think this story is enterally correct. From what I've seen, including in a drone video, the road is complete from Holly Springs to US-401, and that is what will open next month. From 401 to I-40 looks like it's got a couple of months of work left. Of course the part I really would like to see opened, the one I'd use every day, is the last part, and it will likely be opened around the time I retire and won't need it any more!
Not only will it provide an easier way to get to work in RTP or west Cary, but it will help those families who live in those residential areas nearby get to the beaches a lot quicker without having to cut through Raleigh or Willow Spring to get to I-40 or US 70. I was hoping it would have been built by the start of summer season instead of closer to back to school time. Maybe next summer season it'll be quicker to get to Wilmington or the Crystal Coast for those residents of Apex/Holly Springs/F-V.
I can't wait , until the entire beltway , is completed beyond 2028 , when I move back up there for work , and a couple of businesses / sidehustles , to make a nice living , in 2032 , 2036 and beyond . By 2036 , they'll probably be converting Capital Blvd . , to a beltway spur from : I-440 to Wake Forest . That would definitely be needed next , because you can barely get anywhere on Capital Blvd . , during the daytime anymore 😞 ?! They'd probably call that beltway spur , something like : I-740 , or I-940 ?!

Is the interstate 540 full outer loop going to be completed?
