We could easily keep this list going! What's your favorite variation?
Boulevardier.
Or just a classic 3:1 with a cherry. Superb!
Hi Anders…love your Manhattan variations- -beautifully presented but I must go with a RUM Manhattan!👌👌👌😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️Have a wonderful weekend and I can’t forget to say “CHEERS”🍹
Either the Red Hook or the Newark
Great video Anders! Just happened to try a Manhattan variation serendipitly there before seeing your video came out. Tried 2 oz Jameson method and madness with 0.75 oz Amaro nonino with expressed orange peel...needs work unfortunately
@@ManInArea Newark? Looks like I get to learn something new today. Thanks!
We built the Black Manhattan and the Rum Manhattan. Then, we did a Rum Manhattan using Amaro instead, a Black Rum Manhattan? Loved them all.
LOVE the Black Manhattan! It's become one of my cocktail go-to's.
I love a brandy Manhattan using Korbel VS!
Love that Wisco sweatshirt! -MKE Native
Way to ROCK the Giltee Wisco sweatshirt, Az!!!! 🟥🟦🟨
5:54p Love this channel. This evening I'll try the Perfect Manhattan. The Classic Manhattan is my go to.
I love Manhattans and I love El Dorado 12... I can't believe a Rum Manhattan variation never crossed my life 😂 Cheers Anders & Az! 🥂🍹🍸
Rum is like butter. It’s one of the reasons we want to stay alive.
A Rum variation sounds lovely, must try it
I can't wait to try this when I get home.
Death rattle created by Rene nyugen at Hanson Shoe Repair is the best rum manhattan
@@harrySinga-bg4gitry a death rattle
I've been making my black manhattans with Amaro dell Etna instead of Averna and with the addition of Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged Spiced Cherry Bitters (same amount as other two bitters) and it is my current favorite
Love the Wisco sweatshirt!
Somewhere in the past few years I came across a variation called a Grand Manhattan which is 2 rye, .5 sweet vermouth and .5 triple sec and it’ s quite good in an orangey kind of way. Then, I expanded on that by swapping the .5 vermouth with .5 of averna and calling it a Grand Black Manhattan ( Grack Manhattan and Bland Manhattan just didn’t cut it!). Thanks for your great videos!
That sounds good! I think I need a bit more sweetness in a Manhatten!
Trick I learned drinking bourbon, always do a second sip before you judge a drink. The first gets your tastebuds ready, the second is the "Honest flavor". You should give it a try!
I love a Greenpoint which some say is a Brooklyn Variation but it’s essentially a Manhattan variation made by the legendary Michael Mcilroy.
Don’t forget the Makers Mark Manhattan. Always a favorite 🤩
I ended up making the rum Manhattan today. Really tasty! Thanks for letting me know this drink exists.
17 secs ago? Now that’s a fresh video drop. Thanks Anders!
Perfect timing. Thanks for tuning in!
My grandma June, who lived in Chicago her entire life, only drank one cocktail and it was a sweet brandy Manhattan.
You two make a great team! Very enjoyable! Keep it up! Oh, by the way, the drink recipes are terrific as well!!! 😂😂
I agree. I enjoy Oz's unrehearsed(?) tasting reactions. Adds a lot of fun 😃
💯😁 they're two of the 😎 MF's plus they have a dog so bonus 😎
Delightful having Oz in your videos
Over the holidays I like to add a barspoon of Allspice Liqueur for a more festive Manhattan.
I couldn't (or didn't want to) pick one so of course I made all three. The Black Manhattan is my fav.
Love this here’s my Manhattan riff
I call it the flush Sicilian
Flush Sicilian
2oz bourbon
.5oz Amaro Averna
.5oz sweet vermouth
.25oz chartreuse
2dash angostura bitters
Stir and serve up with Amarena cherry as
Just made the rum one. OMG. I had a bottle of El Dorado gathering dust - won’t be around much longer now!! The PERFECT cigar accompaniment.
Amazing video! Thanks for the inspiration!
Black Manhattan with Amaro Nonino is really nice.
During the holiday season I've been a real fan of what I call a Christmas Manhattan, rather than an ounce of sweet vermouth I half it with a chocolate liquor. What a festive treat!
that sounds amazing and I'm going to try it!
Have you tried the new Bailey’s chocolate liqueur? It comes in a dark blue bottle and came to stores just a few weeks ago.
Might try a perfect rum variant.
Your Black Manhattan is my favorite. I enjoy one before dinner.
Black Manhattan has been one of my favorite drinks for a long time. I usually make mine a double. So good.
Mmmmmmm, I think I have found my new favorite Manhattan, the Perfect Manhattan.
The two Vermouth I used are very botanical (Ransom) and I like the different flavors that appear.
Just stumbled onto your channel, I had the opposite experience with a perfect Manhattan, ironically whilst in Manhattan, in a burst of enthusiasm I ordered a “perfect Manhattan” not knowing that this was a different drink than a Manhattan made perfectly… the bartender watched my quizzical expression after tasting it and sent the server over. She explained and offered a gratis replacement if this wasn’t what was expected, but I really liked it, thanked the server, the bartender, and now when I am in a fancy shamancy bar I order a perfect Manhattan and watch closely to see what they do!
I like them with an Irish Whiskey sometimes. Bushmills Prohibition and Red Breast 12.
Great video as always , informative and entertaining!!
ANDERS!!! Great video!!! After all these years, I STILL haven't tried a Black Manhattan!! That WILL change!!! I love Cocchi de Torino!!! CHEERS!!!
No time like the present!
Once I found Cocchi, I stopped longing for any other vermouth ❤
@@jasonziegler3085 Is it me, or is Cocchi de Torino almost impossible to find lately???
The Black Manhattan (which Anders included in a previous video) has become a favorite of my extended family. But we've bastardized the name into the very fun to say 'Blackhattan.'
Black Manhattan is my favorite! I've never had it with expressed lemon, tho. Always cherry or orange. Or both!
Been doing a Manhattan variant from Diffords called the “High Ryeser”. Equal parts high proof Rye (100 or better) and sweet vermouth, usually Italian. 4 dashes of orange bitters, stirred down till I like where the heat settles, and strained over a fresh large cube or sphere. I’ve tried a couple different garnishes, but it usual ends up being a Amarena cherry and candied orange round. It’s a fun, albeit sweet, riff that is in regular rotation here at the home bar. That Black Manhattan is a definite try, since I already have some Averna. And the I will do the rum version as soon as I can land a bottle of the right kind of rum…
Love your channel Anders! My favorite version is the one I call "Cooperstown" as that's where I had it. A great little restaurant, Mel's at 22, down the block from the Baseball HOF served it up. I guess at the ratios, but I make it all the time now. 2 oz rye, 1 oz sweet vermouth (you could add 1.5 oz), 1/4 oz Weathertop Farm Blackberry Lavendar Shrub, 2 dashes black walnut bitters. Serve up or on the rocks with a Luxardo cherry. For rye, if I don't have my local distillery's Silk City or Muckleyeye, I get Rittenhouse or Hudson. I hope you try this. It's on the sweet side but delicious.
I love a perfect Manhattan already, but I deff need to try that rum Manhattan. It looks quite tasty.
Man, these look delicious.
Can't wait to make these tomorrow 🍸 😋
Looking forward to these! Especially the Demerara rum version.
What a topical video today, Anders! I got some bourbon for my bday and am tryna get rid of my vermouth before it gets old!
That's the spirit!
The Black Manhattan is my fave from these
Great collection for the weekend
Always been a big fan of the rum Manhattan, great video!
the rum manhattan is awesome and might be pushing the shrunken skull and dark daiquiri as my favorite rum drink
Watched this video this afternoon & just made myself the Rum Manhattan (had to use 5-year aged Plantation rum since no demerara in the house)…OMG! Oz, no wonder your face lit up when you tasted it. YUM
Next up Old Fashioned riffs??? You two are the best!!! Cheers!!!!
So fun!!
The rum Manhattan looks tasty!
Thanks Anders! Your videos are always fun. Sometime, I'll do a Manhattan, Kansas (the Little Apple), which is 2 onces of sweet vermouth and 1 once of rye, with a couple dashes of bitters and a cherry. Not as good as the orig, but a little less strong.
The Manhattan is one of my favorite autumn cocktails. I just made the perfect Manhattan last week for the first time, but used bourbon instead of Rye. It was delicious! Cheers, Anders!
I love the classic Manhattan. And I love the black Manhattan. And a few days ago, I made a Rum Manhattan, without even knowing there was one. And now I love the rum Manhattan too.
TGIF new anders video!
Fun video. Enjoyable. cheers
I'm gonna try the Rum Manhattan for sure! Loved the video by the way
So excited to try the rum manhattan!
The Black Manhattan is my favourite version, glad to see it here.
Love you Anders ❤
I was a Manhattan man for many years, and fell in love with the Boulevardier because of you, which is I guess another riff on a Manhattan. But tonight I decided to try a Black Manhattan. Except the only Amaro I had on hand was Ramazzoti. I decided "screw it" and tried it with the Ramazzoti, and wow, it's really good. I'll obviously try to buy a bottle of Averna at some point, but I will go right ahead and recommend that this drink still rocks with Ramazzoti.
Can’t wait to make a Rum Manhattan this weekend!!
Fantastic!!!!
I love a Black Rye Manhattan with a zippy amaro from Philadelphia, or one made perfect with green chartreuse. Great drink platform.
The rum Manhattan was published in the Savoy Cocktail Book as the Palmetto
I'm a big fan of both the Black Manhattan and the Rum Manhattan! Great video as always! Cheers!
Best rum Manhattan is a death rattle
I do cocktail nights during the year at our coffee shop in the UK, and I LOVE your videos! They really inspire me. My husband and I love watching your videos - he walked by while I was watching and stopped for the Rum Manhattan, so I guess that's going to be our next date night drink! Btw Oz is super cute too and your chemistry is so great! xx
That Rum Manhattan is the Bomb ! Cheers !
Watching this while sipping a mezcal negroni... Looking forward to seeing what's next!
You two are awesome.
I once got a Manhattan where the bartender asked if she could surprise me on the rye. She used Templeton Rye, and I’ve loved it for my Manhattans ever since.
I usually dont like Manhattans, but these riffs are all good. I sit here having the rum Manhattan and it is amazing. I would definitely use the El Dorado rum and the Cocchi sweet vermouth that Anders suggests. Although I have swapped the El Dorado for Zacapa 23 on occasion and it is also great.
love to see another Anders doing good things in the world let's gooooooo!
Trying the rum Manhattan this weekend!!
Best Manhattan riff is a death rattle create by Rene nyugen at Hanson Shoe Repair in Orlando. Smith and cross rum, Benedictine, punt E mes, xocolatl mole bitters, pernod
I just had one called The Sean. Bulleit bourbon,Grand Marnier, dry vermouth, bitters, and cherry. I recreated it using 2 Oz.rye and half GM and half dry vermouth and three dashes of Angostura bitters. I’m going to try the rum manhattan.
Oz, THAT! Wisco shirt!
I love a good Manhattan. I’ll definitely be trying the rum variation.
Okay, I'm sold! I'll be trying the rum manhattan this week. The old fashioned has been my go-to drink, so this is a no-brainer.
Woah. I don’t love rum, and that’s an understatement. But that rum manhattan is delicious. I think I might have changed my mind on the spirit after that.
Yet another great video, and, yes, please keep including Az for her opinions. Since you asked, I'm going to try a Rum Manhattan tonight! Can't wait. I'll be using Kraken since that's the closest rum I have to what you were using.
Inspired by this, I had a "Rum Manhattan" yesterday evening; went "Oh yeah" just like Az did 😊 will be definetely an new "standard" now at my home bar!
Sold on the Rum Manhattan, thank you
Great video.. gonna make my self one tomorrow, you pick
You need to try a "Dry Manhattan". My dad drank one and only one every night after dinner. Bourbon, dry vermouth and 2 large green olives. Very good! I think I'll have one...
I need to try the Rum Manhattan 🥰🥰🥰. Great video as always 👍🙏.
Best cocktail content and presentation by far!
Cheers
I don't know what it's called, but substituting the vermouth with Jager is a really fun one to try!
Tried the Black Manhattan. Very good - don’t think I’ve had amaro before. Works well with the rye! Thank you for the recipes - perfect on this fall day with a fire pit!
Ever since that original Black Manhattan video, that has been my go-to drink.
If I were trapped on a desert island with an endless supply of one drink, that would be the one.
Cheers!
I'll definitely try the Rum Manhattan!
I just recently tried rum... thinking no one had done it..... Now I know that isn't' the case. But it is very tasty. Also I use both Angostura and Orange bitters in my 'perfect' Manhattan. Just for fun. Thanks for your great videos.
Great video! Very well explain. I go for the black Manhattan..
I appreciate this channel. I’m a rum/tiki dork AND a Manhattan lover, and have never had a Rum Manhattan…. Very much looking forward to mixing it!
Try a death rattle. Best rum manhattan
This morning I grabbed a 15 year old Panamanian rum from Costco, Kirkland brand. This Rum Manhattan recipe comes right on time. Cannot wait!
Seem like excellent recipes, I’ll definitely have to give the rum variation a go! And FYI, the Black Manhattan is labelled as a Perfect Manhattan in the video description, so you might want to change it 🙂
Oops! Thanks for that
@@AndersErickson sir, I believe you mean “Ope!”
Try a death rattle. Best rum Manhattan
Hi Az and Anders, I'm commenting on this video for visibility, but also because I'm drinking my second Rum Manhattan and loving it. First of all, I just tended bar at a friends' Tiki inspired Halloween party and made your Harvest Moon punch, Port Light and Speak No Evil cocktails among others to great praise, so thanks (I credited you of course)! Secondly, I wanted to say that I miss the history component of your films and hope you continue to include it in the near future. You have been a great inspiration on my cocktail making and style. All the best to you both (and Freya).
Did a perfect with Antica and Lillet Blanc (cause those were in my fridge), twist,up. I’d definitely go there again. Thanks for the video, as always.
will try the rum one...seems lovely and refreshing
My favorite channel on YT by far 🙏❤️ (MrBallen is a close second lol)
Looove a black Manhattan. Hits the spot. Also love playing with rum in classic whiskey cocktails so fully endorse that too. Cheers! 🥃
