Ahh yes back when dance practices weren't really a thing, it seems crazy now because they are just expected! Also, Odd Eye is one of my favorite SHINee songs ever! I've been a Shawol since 2008 (I'm old). The music show stage where Key wears an eyepatch is iconic... 1000/10. They have such a funny group dynamic too, Key and Minho are very open about how they didn't get on at ALL at first, now they are like that old married couple who bicker but love each other. Taemin is one of a kind personality-wise... he's just... you couldn't make him up! XD
Fun fact: aside from the sub-fandom names (MVP, Blingers, Lockets, Flamers, and Taemints), the members themselves called their fans in different names (Onew: Jjinggus, Key: Little Freaks, Taemin: Jjakgoongs) So yeah it might be too much to remember. But overall, SHINee members really cherish their fans. Whatever stage we wish for, they tried to create it & perform it for us.
I'm not surprised that SHINee won you over with their lives. They were always SM's experimental group, not just with sound but with management and promotional styles as well. They often send them first to new shows etc to test the waters. They were the Princes of kpop because at the time Big Bang were known as the Kings, they were also extremely young and baby-faced at debut compared to other groups at the time, though I know it's fairly normal these days! Haha your face when the opera started! Yep that was a solo stage. It's funny I always think of Key as having the strongest stage presence but tbh SHINee set the bar pretty high in that area. The second song they played for Minho was I'm Home. He's done by far the most acting of the group (at least on screen, Onew and Key have each acted in many stage musicals) A couple of the performance clips that you liked were from the Ringtone Live, it's on yt with 4 of their solos that they performed this past spring. ONEUS covered Love Like Oxygen! If you like Orgel you should check out f(x)'s Shadow. Yep that's the Misconceptions album cover art! And nope, Misconceptions was early 2013 and the Everybody EP came out in late 2013, all of the songs were played in chronological order actually. You would love the Inkigayo Odd Eye stage, but that has to be on patreon. The mv for Your Number is a rare safe for yt Japanese mv and it's the definitive suit dance! SHINee didn't have the first dance practice but it was the first to go viral and from then on they became standard in the industry. Yep Big Bang had the first dedicated lightstick! Looking forward to seeing more SHINee sometime!
Thank you for the reaction Not sure if you were able to read it since it was too fast but Jonghyun is the first idol from SM with self-written and self-composed solo albums. He also wrote songs for Taemin, EXO, IU, Lee Hi
Orgel and Symptoms actually both came out in 2013 (Symptoms came out in the Fall and Orgel end of spring/start of Summer i think?). But I totally agree about the cover art of the Misconceptions albums deserving to have vinyls. The Misconceptions of Us album is my favorite physical album I own... So glad to see you getting into SHINee more! It's the first time I've seen this guide.
It's a well known fact that when Key and Minho were trainees they didn't get alone because their personalities are the complete opposite. Even though Minho and Key are now very close and they have learned to understand and accept and respect their differences, it's still a running joke that they know how to push each other's buttons and they don't want to spend too much time together. Their hatred for each other is no longer real, but they play up their dislike as a joke. So any time Key or Minho is asked about spending time alone with each other or giving each other extra respect, etc. it's a given that they will both say no. They have a complicated relationship, because even though they were both born in 1991, which makes them the same age, Minho became an SM trainee first so he is considered a senior to Key, but Key is actually about 3 months older than Minho, so it has become a point of contention -- who deserves more respect? The older one or the one with more time in the industry? It all has to do with the Korean honorific system and how you are supposed to show respect for those who came before you and/or those who are older than you, etc. But neither one wants to concede to the other. So over the years it has turned into a funny power struggle between the two of them. However, these days Minho and Key are super close and you always see them together, especially after being apart for almost 2 years while they served in the military. Minho really missed his members, and it seems Key in particular, because you see them together all the time, even just hanging out. As Minho said, they are more like an old married couple now that just gets each other and knows what each other wants without even having to say anything.
yes dance practices weren't a thing and after shinee dance practice went viral it helped popularize it, album photocards trended because of girl's generation they were the first who have used it and lightsticks because of bigbang you were correct; the photocards and lightsticks origin is actually from jpop and Japanese groups and Korean companies brought it in kpop SHINee are a really funny group and their dynamics are really fun and sweet. they also one of the groups that have been also very honest since the start about their differences and they kinda got misunderstood or even some hated them for it early days when I find that very refreshing and oh everybody album and the misconception albums were on the same year in 2013 but everybody album concept was toy soldiers while the misconception albums were related to dreams/nightmares so the album covers were more creative I guess
Shinee are f*cking insane dude(and i mean their music and their personalities) i’m a multi and into many different groups and they are some of the wildest out there, definitely check out some compilations if you’re interested. Thanks for the reaction!
Interestingly enough, The Misconceptions album came out months before Everybody. And SHINee actually had a hand in the design for the Misconception series ❤️❤️❤️
this is a good informative short guide, it works well as an introduction for the group. about dance practices yes they weren't a thing like few groups did it at the time and after shinee lucifer dance practice went viral, it became a trend and a thing fans loved and wanted to see there were so few idols to ever write lyrics for their groups and Jonghyun was from the first-ever idols to write title track lyrics at the time for his own group and even when he debuted as a solo artist he was one of the first idols who write & produce and even compose his own full solo album. He also wrote lyrics for other artists like EXO & IU etc.... SHINee group dynamics are really great and they are really funny I hope someone requests a fun video for you to see because they really are so funny. if you want a longer individual guide I recommend a channel called (very swank), they made a good longer individual guide for each member Minho is kinda focused on acting at the moment so he doesn't have any solo album yet, the second clip of him singing was a tiny part of a live performance of his single (I'm home)
Halloween didn't used to be a very big deal in Korea. However, SHINee and SM kind of changed all that. Fun fact: The middle of summer is horror season in Korea. Koreans say they like to watch scary movies and shows in the summer because it gives them chills which cools them down when it is hot. Which is one reason why celebrating Halloween in October wasn't really that big of deal before. Halloween in Korea is pretty much a western culture transplant. It has only been in the last few years that Koreans have started to celebrate Halloween by holding costume parties, and it's all thanks to SHINee. SHINee is the group that first started the Halloween trend in Korea and they are the reason why we have things like dance practice videos where groups dress up in Halloween costumes and do special Halloween events, etc. It all began in 2013 when the members of SHINee decided to dress up in full costume for a fan meeting, which really caused a buzz in the Kpop industry. The SHINee members had so much fun, that they decided to attend SM's annual company dinner party in costume as well. SHINee's costumes became such a trending topic that Lee SooMan decided to make the company dinner a Halloween party every year. Now SM is known for holding one of the largest costume parties every year. The event has now become one of the biggest events in the Kpop industry and is usually attended by some of the most famous celebrities in Korea. It's like the Met Gala of Halloween parties. However, the event was canceled last year because of the pandemic, and this year it was scaled back as a Halloween House party special event for fans with only SM artists in attendance because of social distancing and smaller crowd requirements. As part of the party, there is a costume contest and, in the past, the person with the best costume has won an all expenses paid vacation trip. SM Entertainment members are known for being some of the most competitive. They are the ones who go all out when it comes to dressing up -- always trying to outdo each other. So it's a pretty steep competition among the top contenders every year. And each year they have to come up with something better than what anyone did the year before. For example, one year Key dressed up as Ronald McDonald and Onew dressed up as Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken, which got so much media coverage that Key says he was given a giant stack of coupons for free meals from McDonald's as a thank you for endorsing the company. Then Chanyeol from EXO had to outdo everyone one year by spending a small fortune on a Iron Man costume imported from overseas, which won him the top prize -- it had real working lights and sounds, and he couldn't even sit down with it on, so he had to walk to the event. Which then made Key even more competitive, so the last time he attended the Halloween party in 2018 he came as Voldemort from Harry Potter. He hired a team of famous TV and movie makeup artists to make him look like the real character. Check out ua-cam.com/video/rUsHzXS66Aw/v-deo.html to see just how amazing Key's costume really was. You will see why he received the award for best dressed that year. And then, this year -- which was the first year the SHINee members were able to attend since the pandemic canceled the event last year, and this was the first year since Onew, Key and Minho were discharged -- Onew kept the tradition going. Onew dressed up as The Penguin from Batman for SM's Halloween House party this year, and he received the award for best dressed. You have to see how spoton his costume was as well, ua-cam.com/video/jyLqElC3t0Q/v-deo.html.
Stage presence? Who do you think Taemin learned stage presence from besides Jonghyun? Orgel actually precedes Symptoms, hee! But Misconceptions artwork is done by the members themselves. While Replay is not kpop's first dance practice, it is the one that was released to the public. I highly, highly recommend giving it a watch, for Taemin's bowl cut, and Jonghyun and Onew's live vocals. The choreo by Rino Nakasone is outstanding - to this day.
I can't believe I missed this! I'd love to see you react to Jonghyun's solo stuff. His solo stuff is definitely some of the most creative solo work in kpop. I don't know if you missed it in the guide but Jonghyun was the first SM idol with a self-written and produced solo album. They really trusted him and that's because he was an extremely talented musician. I'd check out Selene 6.23 for sure as it's a very important song to Shinee. It's written by Jonghyun and they often sing it in tribute to him.
this is a really good guide even if it's short I really liked it because it covers the basics love like oxygen was covered by oneus so yeah that's probably where you have heard it thank you for your reaction once again
Nice guide and nice reaction! Yes Shinee are actually the group that started the dance practice video trend. I think 'Replay' was actually the first dance practice to be posted and later with 'Lucifer' the whole trend took off! Also yes SM Halloween party is a trend but couldn't be held for the last two years because of corona. Shinee are again the ones to start it because they once came fully dressed to the party (as Piccolo, Marilyn Manson, Freddy Kruger, Naruto) while everyone else came just normally dressed 😂 The next year everyone else started to get competitive and SM actually awards the best dressed at the Halloween party now. You probably saw Oneus covering Love Like Oxygen on Mdromeda! Looking forward to more Shinee content on your channel! I hope next to live stages and their music in general you will also react to fun stuff! They are all hilarious! Here a playlist if you are interested! Although, yes there was other dance practice videos that were seen by the public before "Lucifer," "Lucifer" is considered the very first dance practice that was created to be distributed for fans to watch. Since the beginning of choreography, there has always been dance practice videos, but they have only been filmed for the artists and groups to view in order to help them learn the choreography and perfect their dance move, etc. But they weren't designed for the general public to see. Before "Lucifer," most of the dance practice videos you saw were videos that were leaked by a staff member or someone close to the group and the company never intended those videos to be seen by the public. Which is why you find them on fan pages and not on the group's official channel or on the company's official channel, etc. However, if you look in the Kpop history books, you will see SHINee's "Lucifer" listed as the very first official dance practice video released to the public. As well as the first dance practice to go viral, which started the dance practice trend. And even though SHINee has a dance practice video for their debut song "Replay," SM does not consider that video to be an official dance practice video because it wasn't originally created for fans. Hence why, if you notice, that dance practice is on a random fan channel and not on SHINee's or SM's UA-cam channel. The "Replay" dance practice was originally filmed to be used on a TV program about SHINee at the time and was posted briefly on their personal account online.
I’ve never seen this guide before but I do like that it was short and sweet! Would love to see you react to more SHINee lives/songs/fun videos in the future! Plus their solos! I don’t think there is a need to go in order tbh
omg… i said the same thing about the snippet op included of chemistry by shinee… i was like dang this low key reminds me of earlier ateez (upbeat) music like wave era or smth similar 😭 glad i wasn’t the only one skkdkskds

Actually it was an old official information about their heights The updated information according to the members themselves is: Jonghyun 1.71 Kibum 1.76 Minho 1.81 Taemin 1.74 Onew don't remember exactly but it's something like 1.74-75, close to Taemin
"The odd eye is a big thing in Korean culture" this was a trend started by SHINee actually! They did it for the Odd album/View promotions!

Minho is more active as an actor than a singer (l don’t know why it wasn’t highlighted in the guide 🤷🏻♀️)
The first clip of minho section is from a vcr the 2nd clip is the live performance of his single ‘i’m home’ (he released this as a surprise for fans before leaving for military) if you wanna check idol Minho:
I’m home his single
His legendary kiseki cover- ua-cam.com/video/SJCXcnuTUh8/v-deo.html
Actor Minho: there are lot dramas and movies
Upcoming ones are:
-The Fabulous (Netflix original drama)
-Goosebumps (Horror/Thriller series)
I saw written in the guide in minho section there's a point saying he is more focused on acting at the moment, I think it was just not read at loud by him while he was reacting
Love this....
Can anyone tell me what’s the title of the song at 12:02, Minho’s first clip?
She missed some informations. Jonghyun is 1.73 cm. Onew 1.77 cm and key is 1.78cm
Actually it was an old official information about their heights
The updated information according to the members themselves is:
Jonghyun 1.71
Kibum 1.76
Minho 1.81
Taemin 1.74
Onew don't remember exactly but it's something like 1.74-75, close to Taemin
actually, the one in the guide is the real info. the height of each member according to themselves are the ones in the guide,
