the fact that I watched almost all these movies made me realized how thirsty I am to find that studio ghibli's vibe lol
Fantastic mr fox
Oh yes I love this movie!
i feel the same!
bruh same ;)
yep. same 🖤
If any of you have watched "Children who chase lost voices", you know how insanely similar it is to Studio Ghibli work. You would be screaming "How is this not a ghibli movie", from the characters design to plot progression to world building, it is just straight up a Ghibli movie. It's directed my Makoto Shinkai and it feels out of place compare to the rest of his portfolio. Highly recommend if you like Studio Ghibli
Ooh awesome thanks
I agree
thank you for the recommendation I just watched it and loved it :)
The intro is so cute!! Nice to meet another fellow Monica hehe 😉
Thanks monica! 💜😁
another Mónica here! Hahaha
In This Corner Of The World, Excellent movie! I love the animation in it. Non Ghibli anime movies i recommend are Penguin Highway, A Silent Voice, Weathering With You and Letters To Momo. Thanks for this Monika!
I’ve been meaning to watch letter to momo!
Yesss, penguin highway is amaziiiiiiiiiiing
Ive watched all of these 😂 just because i was on a hunt for ghibli like movies. Now i want more
Thanks
Another great movie is The girl who leapt through time...I loved it❤️
Oh yeah it’s a great one
@@cinemoni I think this one is also by Mamoru Hosoda😇
Knew that "Matilda" would be on here, seeing as Roald Dahl is one of Miyazaki's favorite authors and sources of inspiration. I was surprised to see "The Florida Project" but it makes absolute sense.
If I were to present any additions, they would for sure include the Wallace & Gromit shorts by Nick Park. Similar to Pixar, Nick Park's claymations are more action-oriented but this is offset by the very Ghibli-esque personalities of its main characters. The 2nd of those shorts, "The Wrong Trousers", is possibly the best short film ever made.
Then there's Wes Anderson with his kooky pastel worlds. The example I'll point to is "Moonrise Kingdom", which presents an innocent (or at least as innocent as Anderson can manage) childhood romance with such relatability and rich brushstrokes in its character details.
For me, Flavors of youth is really super similar to studio ghibli in the mood etc, it's a set of 3 short Japanese/Chinese animated films and it's so poetic, you have to watch it if it's not already done (+ there's food and memories exactly like in ghibli movies)
Wow great thanks
I love that movie!
i would like to add 1987 french film called "Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle" it has this gorgeous shot and cinematography with ghiblicore/cottagecore vibe!
ive seen most of the movies you mentioned and loved them all and now i see the common connection between them and its the ghibli vibes lol. i would love to recommend "big fish & begonia" and "kubo and the two strings" both are animated films that give me ghibli feels :)
- song of the sea
- book of kells
^^these two are by the same people who made the wolfwalkers film. They definitely have the same whimsical and folklore-y-ness Ghibli movies have.
Song of the Sea is amazing. Bawled my eyes out.
”song of the sea” is another really good animated movie that has a cute ghibli vibe
Oh my goodnesss yes! That movie is absolutely amazing
I took screenshots of almost every movie you recommended 😂 Even if I've seen them, for some it's been years! I love this video idea & would love to be recommended more movies like these! 💜
Some of my recommendations (Though not all of these are movies):
🫐 Mary and the Witches Flower
🐸 Over The Garden Wall
🪡 Coraline
💖 Bee and Puppycat (UA-cam)
🧶 Moomin Valley (UA-cam)
🐾 Animal Crossing Movie (UA-cam)
A lot of these movies to me just give me Studio Ghibli vibes because of either the whimsical settings, simplicity, old timey feel, deep undertones, character development, relatable universal experiences, and nostalgia :) I can elaborate on any if anyone's interested in any of these 🤍
Mary and the witches flower is also great! When I first watched I was sure it was Studio Ghibli, when I saw it wasn't I was very surprised. It's free on All 4 if anyone is interested x
Song of the sea - such beautiful animation and a really cute storyline.
Did not expect to see “Wolf walkers”. I highly suggest it, it’s so pretty, the music is great and the story is so sweet. Thank you for mentioning it 💖
"ni no kuni" also gives major studio ghibli vibes! i literally thought it was a ghibli movie at first, its so good omg
And there's Summer Camp island!! It is a television animated series but it has quite the same peaceful and adorable vibe❤️
I think I’ll be tuning in few movies today and on the weekend. Thank you Monika! Also I love the intro and you look gorgeous as usual!
Song of the Sea is a great Ghibli feeling movie, directed by the Tomm Moore, who also did Wolf Walkers :)
Totally agree with this list, especially Pan's Labyrinth. It's one of my favorite movies ever! Great content as always, Monika!! 💖💖
I love this list! I’ve watched a lot of the movies on it, but not all of them. I feel like Lu Over The Wall is also a very Ghibli-esque movie, kind of like Ponyo. And also Okko’s Inn!
I love the movies you recommended, I've seen some of then and was reminded to put the rest in my watchlist because i had heard about them before too! Thank you!
An undeservingly little known movie I'm sure has a ghibli vibes is "Song Of The Sea". I came across it by chase one day and watched it with my little sister and mom and they both loved it very much! My sister told me it reminded her of "Spirited Away" and i can definitely see it in the story line and the characters but definitely not the art style which is very beautiful and unique, overall it has that very magical and emotional element i crave! It deals with topics such as illness and family, much like ghibli movies. I hope that who anyone watches it enjoys it greatly :)
Mai Mai Miracle has the same vibes as Ghibli movies too (both animation and plotwise). Definitely recommend to check that out!
I legit watched every movie you mentioned 🥲 I was wondering if you would recommend pan's labyrinth and then you did 🥺 it's one of my favourite film ever. It's the perfect balance of something creepy but magical (and I'm not talking about the actual magical elements and events happening). I remember I cried A LOT the first time I watched it and now that I think about it, all these movie are my favorite because they just make me feel a lot in general. Perfect list if you want to feel something intense (in a good way) 🥺
Kiki’s Delivery Service and Fly Away Home for me 🥰 both have similar pacing, beautiful scenery, and flying with birds 😅 but as well as the plot. Both are about young teenage girls who move to a new place and feel lost. It is through flying to help others that they find peace … and added bonus, Fly Away Home stars Anna Paquin who voices Sheeta in Castle in the Sky so… Ghibli connection! 🥰
i watched little forest and it was so good! so visually pleasing and relaxing to watch, i love what it says about motherhood too. tysm i have a new favorite movie! ♡
I was searching for comments about little forest 😍
Monica! I really glad you mentioned little forrest. It's absolutely a lifetime movie for me. It has so many deep meaning and emotion. If you didn't know this, little forest actually a remake of japanese movie and manga titled "little forrest : summer & autumn" and "little forest : winter & spring". I hope you talked about these original movies of little forest. Because the world really needs to see them. It's twice as beautiful as the korean version 💙💙💙
I absolutely agree!!
YESSS ❤️
loved so much the florida project and little forest! you should definitely watch sweet bean by Naomi Kawase if you haven't yet!! there are also a lot of beautiful shots of cooking, also very wholesome vibe but at the same time very emotional!! also i recommend you to watch cinema paradiso, an italian movie by Giuseppe Tornatore, beautiful and emotional story about a friendship between a child passionated by cinema and a theater's projectionnist, a little gem! :)
First time coming across one of your videos and the INTRO ALREADY HAS ME YELLING!!
The wolfwalkers one reminds me of "The secret of kells"! Also , must watch for ghibli lovers. It's magical erie feel is an awesome cinematic experience
Idk how but somehow you make every single video fell like a warm hug❤️
Great recommendations, quite a few to add to my watchlist now. I'd also put forward the film 20th Century Women, which is a slice of life film about a young boy who lives with his mother in a boarding house in 1970s California, and his relationship with her, as well as the other residents of the house. Lots of quiet shots of the local natural landscape, plenty of strongly defined female characters (played by the likes of Annette Bening and Greta Gerwig), and a central focus on a young person growing up and trying to find their identity, so the Ghibli vibes should be quite clear. Plus, a period piece set in a boarding house by the seaside is automatically going to draw connections with From Up on Poppy Hill
I feel like Where The Wild Things Are is very similar to studio thinking movies too. One of my fav childhood movie☺️
Well I got another movie that has animation vibe of ghibli : "A Whisker Away" it deals with mental illness, then friendship, teenage life, insecurities and much more. I just loved it and it has cats so what else do you need 😜✨💁
That movie is what got me into anime
I'm gonna watch corner of the world some I recommend are flavors of youth and garden of words they're like a mature version of Ghibli + great cooking scenes and they're emotional
your recommendations are impeccable! watched pan's labyrinth because of your recommendations in your past videos and it was amazing
Ahh i’m happy to hear that! 💜💜
Really loving ur recommendations!! Gonna check out little forest. Thank you Monika!!!!
Yes!! I love little forest i rewatched it recently and then found out about the Japanese original and watched that too! It really does have that enjoying the simple things in life vibe
i hope you make a video about christmas movies to watch during christmas hehe ☺️ as usual, love the video monika!
I subscribes just because of the creative intro I LOVE IT its sk unique and creative just the first minute
hI! I love your videos : ) u should watch Contratiempo, the good place or also Miss Americana, even if ur not a Taylor fan it´s interesting to watch
Another live action film with amazing food shots and rural japan shots is Our Little Sister by Hirokazu KORE-EDA. Its based on the josei manga 海街diary, and follows the lives of four sisters in their young adulthood. it's slowed paced and more about character growth and relationships than about plot, and it's so sweet. reminds me a lot of when Marnie was there for themes of family and adjusting to life in a new place
Idk how to decribe it but i love some good moovies witch chill, adventurous, imaginary and idk , vibe. It gave me goospumb every time i feel like i am entering in the moovie. I am really into the new animes, i love studio ghilbi forever
me encantan tus recomendaciones, muchas gracias 🥺✨💕 además tu estética es preciosa
I loved the video! UA-cam algorithm nailed it, new subscriber
the intro is sooo good!! I loved it so much 💛💛
All these films seem wonderful! I have seen some of them (and loved them very much) > Raya, Wolfwalkers (which I want to rewatch soon), Luca and Pan's Labyrinth were all really beautiful movies. So I need to check the others out sometime as well! Thank you for the video
Mary and the witches flower give me studio ghibli vibes!
Yes! It’s made by people who worked at Ghibli before! I didn’t like it as much but definitely has the same animation style
You always give the best recommendations!! I can’t wait to watch all of these- planning on watching Little Forest tonight because it looks so beautiful! 💜🌷🌿
little forest is so heartwarming and lovely movie ❤️ I love both the Japanese and Korean version and it made me wants to move into the forest and do some farming lmao
How do you not have more subscribers! Your videos are always so calm and comforting ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
the same people who made wolf walkers have a couple other movies that also feel like a ghibli film - Secret of the Kells and Song of the Sea. I love them so much
New videooo yeaaahh!!! The intro is perfect!
this video was amazing! ❤I missed "The girl who leaped through time" tho😅
Y'all should watch Big Fish & Begonia if you have not already. It is animated film that brings the tearsss!
"Summer with Coo" is a japanese animation movie that gives me the vibes. Loved it!
I would add Tokyo Godfathers, especially during Christmas. It's more "grimy" and grounded than that Ghibli feel, but still amazing, and in my gut, I think it fits.
You have to watch Little Forest Japanese Version as well !!
I’m a first year film student in Los Angeles and honestly your channel has helped me push through some of the difficult assignments lol.
Aw yay lol! Glad i could help 💜
@@cinemoni ps. soy Latina tambien. We have to stick together 😂.
just found this channel and i LOVE it!!
Not a movie, but there is a little-known anime series called “The Beast Player Erin” or “Kemono no Souja Erin” that has total Ghibli vibes. It follows a girl named Erin from childhood to young adulthood in a story that progressively grows more complex and grand as she gets older. Highly recommend!
your intro is TOOO CUTEEE and creative! you're cool, monica!
I love your outfit!!
Unsurprised that the second Mamoru Hosoda movie was Wolf Children, but I was really hoping it would be The Boy and the Beast! The world feels very Ghibli-esque, as does the moral of the story. It’s one of my favourite animated movies.
Loved it! ♡
Song of the Sea remind me of a ghibli film. The animation reminds me of wolfwalkers and the animation is just 😙🤌
Disneys more unknown "The sword in the stone" is a slower paced, sort of coming of age, whimsical and full of magic and fleshed out characters movie. If you don't know it, I highly recommend it for those comfy vibes.
Love this video 😍♥️
12:25 Sweetie!!!! , you can't imagine how much I searched for the name of this movie, I had found it on a Korean website and ended up losing the link to continue watching, seriously thank you so much, I'll be able to continue watching!
I have to recommend Our little sister (2015), it's a beautiful story about family and friendship and everyday life struggles. It's about three sisters who go their father's funeral and they meet their 14 year old half-sister. They decide to invite her to come live with them in their family house. If i remember correctly, the whole movie takes place in the japanese countryside, so there are some really beautiful shots that are reminiscent of ghibli movies. It really made an impact on me when i saw it a few years ago! It's definitely one of my favourites. :')
omg yes it’s been on my watchlist forever! I need to finally watch it 💕
@@cinemoni Absolutely!! I hope you'll love it as much as i do!! 🥰
woah the intro is soooo creative!
mirai from future was so good thank you so much for recomendation 💌💌💌
Thank you for the recommendations!
Absolutely love your videos
Love these videos
Matilda was literally my childhood! Brings so much nostalgia 😫
Since you have Wolfwalkers, have you seen Song of the Sea by Cartoon Saloon? That movie is hard Ghibli vibes (pretty much anything by Cartoon Saloon will fit on this list)
Some other great Ghibli vibe movies are from the same studio as Wolf Walkers. The secret of Kells is one of my all time favorite movies but The Song of the Sea is also great
glad to know i'm not the only one who got MASSIVE ghibli vibes from luca
I enjoy your videos so much 😊
Thank you!☺️
You can Also watch " The boy and the beast" before wolf children and then Mirai ( they're all related )
the sakura song!!! 😍😍
Another one I enjoyed but didn’t show up in your list, unless you’ve already mentioned it: Nino Kuni ✨
Matilda also has Kiki vibes because there outfits are kinda similar (the red bow)
I love the intro 😊💕
Yeah it’s so cute 🥰
Yayyy☺️☺️
Aaaaa the intro 😤❤️
Glad u like it 💕
girl where is that shirt from I neeeed it it’s so cute!
Children of the sea is really good:)
I grew up watching ghibli movies and I always thought the girl who kept through time was ghibli, apparently it’s not but it’s such a beautiful movie I cannot recommend it enough
Hello Ma'am I really Love all Your Recommendations Videos ,Especially I L😍 The Way of Your Color Grading Style. Surprisingly I'm from India.
Aw thank you so much!
The little forest film is based in a Japanese film that is divided into two films. If you liked the Korean version, you are going to love the Japanese one. Also, the films are inspired by a manga, for those who like to read ❤
Raya and The Last Dragon is so underrated. I'm sure it would've got the Best Animated Feature Oscar if it hadn't been released the same year as Encanto.
I came here for howl's moving castle from the cover but u didn't talk about it.😔
But would def check out the others.✨♥️
*Help! I'm a Fish* is one of my favourite movies that I grew up watching and I really recommend it to anyone looking for more SG vibes! :)
As a fellow lover of grave of the fireflies, I can verify that in this corner of the world is the big sad
Love all the movies in the list! But how on earth was "Mary and the Witch's Flower" not on here?
Yuki Midorikawa's Hotarubi no Mori e (Into the forest of fireflies' light, short movie) and Natsume's Book of Friends come to mind.
I watched Spirited Away. It was great
Little forest is my favorite film!!!
