The purpose of the funeral fake out was precisely what you said: To make you realize how much you'd grown to like Cordy after her initial introductions
Also, the actress for Cordy has a scar in that location because when she was a child she fell on some exposed rebar. So that was also a reference of a sort

  • @ReXtion88
    @ReXtion88 Рік тому +52

The first episode where you start forgetting Spike is evil. It will happen again.
Meanwhile, this is an absolutely classic Whedon Episode of continually-escalating melodrama, and it's superb. I must admit I'd forgotten just how good this episode is, but you guys reacting to it was a blast, particularly enjoyed this one. I think by this point it's fair to say you guys are on the Buffy Train. Welcome aboard.
On the sunlight thing, the secret is to remember that the laws of physics don't matter, it's magic. I don't mean that as in "just don't think about it", vampires are demons and so there's a bunch of things about how they work that just aren't logically possible and yet are true. One of them is that it's possible not to get set on fire by sunlight if it's not fully on you. The writers do play a little fast and loose with it sometimes but mostly it's down to vampires being demonic creatures, not mundane ones

Spike the greatest character in The Buffyverse! Was great to see him back here. Lover's Walk another super episode keeping up the great quality of S3. All the relationships here are having problems Angel/Buffy, Spike/Drusilla and the Oz/Willow/Xander/Cordelia situation. Spikes monologue was very true regarding Buffy and Angel he really nailed it there. You can really see how the writing is now much more intense in that it really delves into the Psyche of each characters emotions. Season 3 is just banger after banger after banger!

Spike's back and Xander and Willow are finally outed for their cheating. 😁😊👌👍
Spike, emotionally moving from singing "My Way" sadly to epically is great.
Giles not knowing if Buffy's mom's head spinning around and exploding was a metaphor or not was great.
This episode has one scene between The Mayor and his Deputy that explains the bad police moments in the first two seasons.
Every Normie both feeling bad for Spike and the weight of "we can still be friends" was a great reaction. Same with their realization that Spike isn't going to hurt Joyce, but is instead have tea with her. Also same with one of my favorite Spike moments, him explaining Buffy and Angel's denial problems to them. And the funeral moment gets everyone; I love that they acknowledge their change from disliking Cordelia to liking her over time.
Now that Joyce is in the know, it seems there are important things Buffy hasn't been explaining to her mom.
Vampires in the Buffyverse can eat things other than blood, but it won't sustain them.
As far as I'm concerned Willow and Xander were no longer hostages when they started making out. Spike coming back is the only things that would've changed that. Even Oz and Cordelia walking in didn't change their non-hostage-ness.
I blame Xander and Willow for Cordelia being in the hospital.
He blacks out the car because he doesn't want to take the risk of direct sunlight during daylight hours, not because he knows one way or the other if it will get him.
For Drusilla, being tied up and tortured would have been a good thing, so technically it wasn't the wrong lesson Spike learned.
Pheromones probably smell stronger to Oz and he may not have realized or wanted to acknowledge what type of smell he was smelling.
Buffy is smart and can be good at school, but she rarely has time to study. When she does, she does well.
I don't think Suraj was saying that whoever a person loses their virginity to, said person would want to be with again. I think he was saying they will always have that moment and it will always be memorable, whether good or bad. And in Buffy's case it was special to the point that even after the breakup that just happened in this episode, things are going to be like Spike explained to them.

In regard to the direct vs indirect sunlight, think of it this way.
If you are in a room with sun pouring through the windows, or skin is covered, or in the shade of a tree, you will not a get sun tan just cause the sun may be present, but it is not hitting you directly so has no effect on you. But once you step outside and allow sun rays to hit your skin, your skin starts to react to the sun (making Vitamin D). As long as a vampire is in the shade, or in a building (not standing directly in front of a window with the sun pouring in), or skin is covered, they can either avoid burning or, at least, have more time to get away from the sun before they burst into flames. But of course like vampire lore in most shows, they can break this rule whether that's accidentally done by a director or the writers simply forget to obey a rule.

The did a deinvite spell on Angel when he was evil. That's why he wasn't able to get in. They just never did one for Spike which is interesting.

This was the first episode i saw...by accident on a day off. A huge brawl, vampires, witchcraft, love triangles, and a vampire that looked like Billy Idol leaving town belting out The Sex Pistols 'My Way'...I was instantly hooked, and have been a fan ever since.

Such a great episode. Season 3 has some great individual episodes and is probably my 2nd favorite season...or third depending on my mood. Lots of good eps to go.

The part where the rebar goes thru Cordelia? That happened in real life to the Actress who plays her-- Charisma Carpenter.

Eye of Rat = Velarian Seeds. Witchcraft is not gross. I'm surprised Rana, whose said she's a witch more than once, didn't take offense to that.
