Benavides has spoken on why he's acting a fool during this whole promo leading up to the fight, it's just for show. He said it in a Spanish interview. One of them has to be the bad guy for the PPV to do well. He said he genuinely doesn't like Plant, but that he knows all this tough guy/villain stuff he's doing is a little over the top.

I just think his past few opponents have not helped prepare him for the bigger stages and harder challenges. Also, I think Plant is learning a little more about his potential, and his experience now as a powerful puncher can be a game changer. His experience after Alvarez can be helpful, also.

Plant has the defensive skills, speed and footwork to frustrate Benavidez early in the fight. However, I dont think Plant will have the power to keep away the aggression of Benavidez. If heavy handed Lemeiux couldnt keep Benavidez off him than I dont see Plant doing so. Eventually, Benavidez will break him down later in the fight (similar to Canelo). We will see Benavidez tested once he finds another power puncher that he wont be able to walk down like a Canelo or moving up in weight to fight Bivol/Betterbeiv
