This so beautiful!!! Growing up in the northern part of Minnesota and Wisconsin, USA, our Luthern church still celebrated St. Lucia day. I now live in the southern part of the United States. I haven't found a church down here that keeps this glorious celebration. Don't ever let this die out in Sweden.
Maybe boys in white costumes and those hats would remind a bit too much of the Kuklux-Clan. Even i thought about that and i do not live in southern USA :)
Utterly beautiful and moving! I was born on St. Lucy’s Day, here in the U.S. Whenever I tell a Swedish or Swedish-American friend my birth date they always break out into a big, happy smile. It’s nice that an Italian-American like me is connected, albeit in a small way, with such a lovely tradition as this.
In Waldorf education, which just celebrated its 100th year anniversary, schools around the world still celebrate the tradition, even to the lit candles on the wreath worn by a girl in the class. They also offered the traditional Lucia buns: I was one of the parents one year making many, many buns for the parents in the school who came to watch. (Well, I should say that at least in a New York Waldorf school in the 90's they still had the celebration down to the lit candle wreath. Hopefully, still!)
Veldig gode sangere, jette fin Lucia!

The Lucia tradition with the candle crown was the first tradition I've learnt about as a small kid that was not done in my country. :) I remember liking it a lot and wanting to wear it one day.😊
Yes, culture. Even if its origins are in Italy, it's part of Christianity, and the past 1000 years Christianity has shaped Sweden. So it is part of Swedish culture wether you like it or not. Sweden also celebrates the Winter Solstice at the same day, they've been merged into one. So our Lucia is not the same as your Italian though it has the same origins. Culture spreads and each country makes it into their own. That's how it works in the world. But who cares? We're all Christian Europeans my friend
@You’re Late! No it's both. Our celebration of the Winter Solstice and Lucia was merged into the same thing. It had to be that way for the ancient Swedes to easier accept Christianity. Since it was forced in the beginning from Christian authorities.

Tusen takk! Haha så roligt. But don't forget the "i" after "studerade" and also it's correctly said "Och nu SKA jag lära mig svenska". But you're really talanted at swedish. Though I can't speak about your accent but consider pronuncing(spelling) it just as the alphabet but remember the short and long letters, they're extremely important. Consider yourself a pro at swedish pronunciation when you can hear the difference at "tomten(santa) and" tomten(lot) or in maybe even glass (ice cream) and glas (glass)! :)

I was Lucia when I was younger and I can still remember how frightened I was of the candles... I thought my head would catch on fire. And that crown is heavy and I mean HEAVY. Usually, they are made of metal and the candles weigh a ton. My teacher was quite cross with me since she thought I walked too fast but I was barely moving. Literally, I was walking at a snail's pace...
@It’s my Big day Nu tror jag att du läser in lite väl mycket här.
I am never Agnostic at Christmas.. It is so essentia1 to stay in touch with the cu1ture. It is not a matter of Faith but an important part of fee1ing and my Christmas begins on Santa Lucia .
My Wife whose birthday falls on 13th December has just found out that she shares it with Saint Lucy, - a 3rd Century Christian Martyr. Lucy means 'Light' and it is Jesus who is seen as the person who brought 'Light' into the Darkness of this troubled World.
I wonder why the symbol of the winter light, Lucia, was also used for the worst, Lucifer, the warden of hell. This performance is heart warming. Merry Christmas.

Usually, they are made of metal and the candles weigh a ton. My teacher was quite cross with me since she thought I walked too fast but I was barely moving. Literally, I was walking at a snail's pace...
Wunderschön gesungen. 🎼👍🕯💫🌟
Njuter, tack för att ni delar!!
Well. I was born on that day, 13th December, in 1946.
Very beautiful, with love from Iraq 🇮🇶
God jul from iraq 🇮🇶
@@ameerjoody5363 lite tidigt för det :) vänta 25 dagar
@It’s my Big day legit? Hur?
@It’s my Big day Nu tror jag att du läser in lite väl mycket här.
@It’s my Big day haha tack x3
This is so beautiful. I wish we could do it in my church.
Jul, jul, strålande jul brings tears to my eyes.
Zo zij het ! Prachtig bedankt !
Jätte fint sång och kör, lycklig Lucia morgon!

Has been a Santka Lucia fest in Wilmington Delaware USA since 1977 at the old Swedes church
You celebrate this in America? Nice. I know a lot of Swedes emigrated there during the 19th century, so that might be why.
Captain Oblivious Swedes landed in what is now Delaware . MARCH 29, 1638 old Swedes church was established 1698

So beautiful. Wish we have this tradition here in USA
Das ist wirklich wunderschön 😊
Very nice and wonderful music ! The ABBA band is around here for Xmas !
Beautiful songs. Greetings from Portugal.
Wonderful! Thank you so much for this posting!
Länge leve Sverige

Just gorgeous
Me encanta.... me encanta...
Wow Pretty Amazing Tradition
I wonder why the symbol of the winter light, Lucia, was also used for the worst, Lucifer, the warden of hell.
This performance is heart warming. Merry Christmas.
Very Beautiful. Congratulations from Brazil.
