A native of South London, with Greek and Jamaican parents, La Havas began teaching herself to play piano, write songs, and sing at the age of seven. Her family’s diverse taste was very influential, when she was a child, her grandparents babysat her often: “They’re from Jamaica, so when I was growing up I listened to a lot of religious reggae-almost hymns, but in a reggae style-on cassettes. But at the same time my mother was listening to a lot of '80s and '90s Michael Jackson, and Mary J Blige, who I loved from a very early age. Plus India Arie, Jill Scott and The Fugees”.
Lianne’s biggest hits include “Green and Gold”, “Unstoppable”, “Gone”, as well as an incredible cover of Dionne Warwick's “I Say a Little Prayer”, and a show stopping Tiny Desk performance for NPR Music. Her catalogue also includes the albums “Blood” and “Is Your Love Big Enough”.

Can`t wait for my copy to arrive! Really haven`t been this excited about an artist for a very long time. Your voice is so rich and beautiful, with a perfectly natural vibrato and even a huskyness that reminds me of the old voices like an Ella Fitzgerald or a Sarah Vaughan had. Also the melodic and full Jazzy Guitar Chords and simply elegante melodies just take me places, thank you Lianne for being such an inspiration musically, even though I haven`t even heard the entire album yet!

I can't wait for her album to be released in the U.S in August!! Geez!!! I love her voice. Found out about her on Concrete Loop two weeks ago. I am glad I did, she is amazing.
i saw her live at the Apollo with Hugh Laurie and she was amazing. i thought i just had to get her album. she has an amazing voice and she has great musical talent.

I want to spill all of my emotion out in this one comment under this video with the hopes of Lianne reading it. However, in a non perfect world I just want to say she has taken my soul by storm with her being. Music is my strongest passion in life and I've found myself not being able to journal my thoughts and feelings for this womans doings hastily enough. She is my favorite artist leaving no room for doubt. Im getting carried a way, I have so much more to say....#LLH ;)

'Forget' was fabulous, original and sharp, I'm not so sure about these more maudlin songs she does though, too many singers doing a similar thing in my view.
