A native of South London, with Greek and Jamaican parents, La Havas began teaching herself to play piano, write songs, and sing at the age of seven. Her family’s diverse taste was very influential, when she was a child, her grandparents babysat her often: “They’re from Jamaica, so when I was growing up I listened to a lot of religious reggae-almost hymns, but in a reggae style-on cassettes. But at the same time my mother was listening to a lot of '80s and '90s Michael Jackson, and Mary J Blige, who I loved from a very early age. Plus India Arie, Jill Scott and The Fugees”.
Lianne’s biggest hits include “Green and Gold”, “Unstoppable”, “Gone”, as well as an incredible cover of Dionne Warwick's “I Say a Little Prayer”, and a show stopping Tiny Desk performance for NPR Music. Her catalogue also includes the albums “Blood” and “Is Your Love Big Enough”.

If she was huge she would only be another gaga or another swift, she would be nothing...
She would have to record music that is more lame or wear huge wigs.
'cause genuine artistry is not for the mass, simple... She is an Artist in all words, no need to show meat...

I heard the acoustic version before i heard this one couple days ago and man trust me this womans voice is better untouched by even the slightest thing.
Thanks, I'm going to seek theacustic out, that song "Levitate" has an acustic over by Milky Chance & I absolutely love that song when they sing it that way. Not so much the pop one, I don't hate it, but it is nothing like it. You're probably way young but if you know, "Born in the U.S.A." by Springstein, the Acustic is a million times better & it's easy to see the meaning he intended. But of course, time made that easier as well, even the then president of the America (Ronald Reagan) misunderstood it as being patriotic & he mentioned it in a speech. It's kinda the opposite of that though.

that's what brought me here, somehow this version feels tame compared to the NPR version... Her voice was FIERCE in that and the backup vocals/harmony was amazing. It reminded me of a song I once saw live that was sung from the perspective of a female dragon.

Ohhhhh I adore this girl. Ive got her EPs and just cant wait til May for the album. This harmonied chords are reminiscent of The Spooks. Lianne is one of those rare people that sounds even better live. Loved her on Jools Holland, just her and her guitar. By this time next year im sure everyone will know her name.
