What a marvelous video! I collect silver and am starting to learn how to make small objects. This was exactly what I hoped to see, the materials, tools necessary to make larger objects! Thank you for this video, absolutely lovely items!
Since learning vessel work in college, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to source the T stakes I used so I can produce more pieces. But seeing that sizable forms can be created with smaller stakes on extended holders gives me new hope.
Lovely work! I used to manage a shoppe of Georg Jensen here in Southern California. The position had it's perks and I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the "Smithy" in Copenhagen, where I learned much from the artisans in making hollowware. These days, I use stainless steel as my material of preference and leave small hammer marks in my bowls to remind me of Jensen. I subscribed to your channel because I believe I can learn so much more from you! Thanks for the video!
love your work! I wrote about yourself and your work in one of my university essays! I am now trying to make a name for mysrlf in the silversmithing world!
I really enjoy your love of design and of the material, and how articulate you are about your process. I just purchased a couple of stakes and raised my first tumbler, and appreciate your videos, especially since I haven't seen anyone demonstrate this work in the real three-dimensional world. My tumbler seemed a bit lumpy compared to yours...

Hi there, the smooth surface of the metal is achieved through hammering the surface with a smooth, polished planishing hammer. I hope this is helpful to you.
Hi Mayerlin, I'm so glad you enjoyed viewing my video, so much so that you are even sharing it with your friends and family! Thank you so much! Love Theresa xx
I'm hooked on Blacksmithing videos and came across this. Very impressive at the time, energy and focus required to produce these works. Theresa, what was the motivation to becoming a silversmith? Was your training exclusively in silver or all metals? What do you think are the main advantages of artisans such as yourself over getting something from a factory? I use to be an illustrator and would find hours slip away because I got absorbed in the delight of my work. Does that happen to you?
Dear Theresa. Congratulation for your amazing videos and talent!! May I kindly ask you the thickness of the silver metal sheet used in this video? Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Eric. Thank you so much for your encouraging message. I used 1.2mm thickness for the sheet silver for this cup. I hope this is helpful to you 😊
Very interesting work. You are so talented. I was just wondering how do you get the smooth surface of the final product by just polishing it without heat applied?
Yet I’m still don’t understand, why didn’t she heat the metal and straight away put in mould then using press to shape the bow?? Is that much easier and faster rather then hammer and hammer and hammer..
Hi miss Theresa,I have found some spoons that has s tear drop shape at the edge & a large handle,The spoon is about 6,inch long, the spoons sizes vary's,from the size of apple seed to peanut seed, Can you please tell me what they are if you can guess thank you.

Hi nguyen. i just saw your web. they are so awesome and beautiful. I am vietnamese too but so bad that i am not talent like you. i see u using that big flame, oh god, i will be scared to death with any flame or fire. i don't even like to cook using gas also
5% of it is talent, most of it is many mundred hours of practice, no matter what the subject is. "Just" push your limets a little bit, and you can learn to do "anything"

Beautifully made program. The sound of the tools was better than any music. Thank you so much for letting us to see this.🥀
Yes. Such a shame when artists of anglers or whatever "ruin" their videos, but putting noise on top of the authentic sounds, or even instead of.

can you practice this sort of stuff with brass or copper or are the properties too different ?
Yes you can use copper (much cheaper). Not sure about brass but also gilding metal ( more of the qualities of silver than copper)
@@nickdunbar2967 Brass is to hard for raising.

When trying to make a silver cup what's the best gauge to start with when ordering a silver sheet ? Please
Hi Camron, I would suggest using 1.2mm thickness for the sheet silver. Happy making! Warmest regards, Theresa
Hi Theresa,
Who are your favorite Silversmiths or style/period ?
No ear defenders?
good job love your studio :)
Thank you. What type of wood do you use for the blocking wood/board?
Hi Jenny, My wooden doming block is made from mahogany.
I have used a mahogany block of wood, as this was the largest piece of wood at hand at the time. Hard woods are best like oak or box wood.
Lovely work! How thick was the silver sheet?
magic 🥰
Hi ... Can you teach me ... I am also silver Smith but not an expert
Miss, do you know that until this video, I had yet to see an explanation Why pickling was done? Thank you!
Quinching stope the heat/cools it and pickling cleans it. Remove the askand/or dirt from flame.
Very beautiful.
❤❤❤❤
