- Опубліковано 1 чер 2024
- It's natural to focus on the ballhandling arm when you're hooping or watching basketball. It's what attracts the attention. But I think most hoopers, even some elite ones, forget that the use of the off-arm is a vital skill to have in order to be a top-level ballhandler. Check out a few ways to discreetly get those key advantages on your defender.

Had this problem yesterday 😂
lol these are the kinda things you cant use in a pick up game without arguing with the opposing player for an hour
On god they swear this is a foul 😭
Your off arm is still really handy in pickup but you can't use it this much. No one can call a foul if you arm bar a guy who's trying to reach in.
Noel Ramirez yeah it all depends where you ball at. If you ball somewhere there is high performance players this is a must and now will call this the only thing that gets called are hard fouls, out, double dribbles. It be The travels that make niggas argue all the time
Noel Ramirez lol that’s why I never used my off- arm to get pass my defender just for that simple fact. Then a soon as you tell’em players do it in the nba they say(this not the NBA) lmbo
@@tonyp6037 lmao true or when your like I see lebron do it all the time and they'll be like well your not lebron
I’ve been rocking with this channel for a minute minute, but this might be the most crucial video you’ve ever uploaded. Major dub alert
Hella i never used my off arm
what are other videos from this channel that is just as crucial?
@M nah man i dont Think so, basketball is a growing sport, especially in Europe, so i Think its gonna go the other Way.
“Major dub alert” what a fuckin cornball
It took me so many years to learn this because it just isn't talked about. It's so fundamental though! Young hoopers, this will take your drive game to another level.
I see young hoopers do this all the time, but they do it to push u off
It's cause of old heads that think it's a foul
@@buttercups616dI’m young and it’s still a foul 😂
@@buttercups616dim young and this will be an offensive foul if abused
you CAN shield. you CAN chop (up & down). you CAN NOT extend your forearm away from the body to create separation. With that being said, you may be able to get away with it depending on how tight your defender is playing you and how discreet you are.
If I ever play you in a fowl you just because you expect somebody to read that whole paragraph 😂
@@stoneyiso3308 It would probably help you to read more. Stop trying to be funny for the internet.
Why watch a whole video and then sum it up in one comment like if we didn't watch the video ourselves 😂
P.s don't be so serious it's not like we gonna ever Meet up in a random pickup game 😂
@@stoneyiso3308 Just to be helpful, my dude. The comment is there for people who are confused by the foul call. Now let me ask... why do you consider one paragraph too much to read? Did you just read all of this? I'm still typing, but none of this is as nearly informative as my 1st comment, and you're probably still reading.
@@stoneyiso3308 killer comment bro
I use it a lot on my friends and they call it a "Foul"
Gian Carle they don’t know basketball... find new friends
@@Eshaw205 LMAOOOOO, I just hate it when they push off
then your friends are tripping 😂 keep doing it!
I mean if you are pushing off your defender it is a foul. If you are using it to keep the defender from reaching in or otherwise just infringing on your space then you good.
Since some of them are tall i just use my arm to keep space, doing it with a stepback is kinda deadly.
I’ve been with this channel for a while and this video right here bruh! Thank you so much bruh. this is one of the best basketball channel hands down!🔥
I've been watching these for years now and I just love how u went from typing everything out to actually talking and it just goes to show how much you've progressed as a channel
In my opinion, chopping up and down is clean and effective, because I noticed the defenders always look to lean in and put their weight on u to slow ur roll.
Chopping tends to disrupt their balance coz it leaves the defender trying to find somewhere to lean instead of actually stopping u, slowing them down more.
But I take issue with using the forearm proactively like that.
To me it really straddles the line between foul and no foul, allowing for dirty plays.. elbow jabs and swings and actual pushing.
To me the shoulder can serve the same function of creating space except it's not as provocative
This was dope... This is literally an unlocked cheat code that no one really speaks about..
I appreciate u for this🤙🏾
I had to learn you can do this at a instant. Specially off pick & roll. I have to START using this now. Appreciate you.
I love the new voice over better than the screen full of text. Love you guys.
The old format is better. You could pause and take notes if you wanted.
Also, it was a different look from what anyone else was doing, so created a distinctive brand. After all, it's that style of video that got this channel noticed in the first place.
@@michaelwayneterry read or voice what make the difference its the content. You have to give the people what they want, LOL
Nah text is better
Nah man I want to hear a alien voice that came from Area 51 talk about football on a basketball Channel😂
Been waiting for someone to finally upload something like this. Thank you!
Another great video! I never truly realized this until I saw this video. Thank you for this video breakdown. I appreciate it.
Jaylen brown Scoring breakdown, his Off ball movement is underrated
Kid Kapri agree!!!
Jaylen is gonna be an allstar one day. I think Boston is gonna trade Tatum and ride with Jaylen.

Al everyonesdaddy Horford nah I want to keep both of them. In a few years we’ll be running the league with those 2
Wow so much good info. Straight to the point. Good clip selection and example footage. Very easy to understand. Well done on the editing too. Overall great video!
The push-off is flat it out illegal. it's even written in the rule book. As long as it's a stiff arm like they are shielding me away I'm cool with it, but if you literally shoving me to get Instagram fame... We fighting.
I can tell you're thirteen.
It's not illegal you just seen a video of nba players doing this you must be slow
Everybody should listen to this comment. A push off is a bitchass move period if I can't push you on defense don't push me on offense. That's why they removed the hand Check rule
actually a stiff arm should be a damn foul imo it should be like a 90 degree bend or less on offense or defense.
@@jwg-ant yeah and who says NBA referees follow the rules?
Having Elite Handles, Jumpshot, Step back, floater, post, face up and fadewawy game on lock all paired with this has made me nearly unstoppable in any situation against any opponent. I've always been a shooter but I remember coach telling me in high school back in 2012 that "if you have handles you can play anywhere on the planet" I took that to heart and instead of putting up the usual 500 shots I'd specifically work handling drills for hours and boy has it paid off big time. I play for money now, $25 to get in a game with me, I will be uploading some videos of me playing soon so stay tuned.
good job sonny
I thought it posting
Bro I really love/appreciate what you do for us ✊🏾❤️
Appreciate the support my guy!
Thank you finally somebody made a in depth video talking about this
The hand check killer🙌🏾
Super Effective video bruh! Thank you!!
Definitely using to improve my game thank you sm!
Keep these videos coming bro I’m tryna be the starting pg this year for the senior team👏🏽
I seen a few comments saying this already.
In a league with a ref, these are good tips. In a pick up game. You’ll be arguing with the other team for forever.
This is what I'm lacking, I don't know how to use my off arm
Big ups!!! Every hooper needs this
Omg this is the move ive ben waiting for thank you for the breakdown bro tanks
Yes bruh! Thank you for making this video!
Ive Been waiting on this forever!!!!
Your videos are way better with speech. I agree this definitely isn't taught enough too. Keep putting these out
I had this super-aggressive defender and i tried this and it worked like a charm 💯 thanks
He was locking yo ass up😂😂😂 and u had to cheat.

This is why that need to allow hand checking. The offensive player has to many advantages.

Bruh same here my whole life I avoided doin this.. finna start killin niggas my main sport football 😹
IM SO VERY THANKFUL FOR THIS VIDEO NOW I CAN USE THIS MOVE😎🙏
Good analysis
You guys aree geniuses,I am in the notification squad noww!
An extra point, on finishes you can get your shoulder into the defender, and bump them away from you.
As long as you don't dip it downwards and hit them with your shoulder blade
even though its legal i hate when ppl do that

Dude I live in Miami as well; also love your work!!!
Slept on tip : you can fake the blowby by pretending like you're going to swipe with the off arm and then either hesi or step back
yep and not alot of ppl do it, its so simple yet so effective

great work
Adding this to my game rn
That’s a fantastic video! Thank you from Ukraine and keep up the great work.
Coaches don't teach this stuff unfortunately but it matters. Every little detail matters in bball.
They don’t teach it because it’s a foul goofy
buddy hield breakdown next!!
Great video
Much needed
I had no idea there wasn't a rule against this! Thanks for sharing.
There is he is just intentionally misinterpreting it. Look at the nba this year, the off hand and other offensive tricks aren’t there now
Good shot 🔥
Grew up hearing off arm contact is offensive foul, yet saw the pros doing it, hard to learn it now, great vid.
How old are you just curious?

If only I saw these kind of training videos when I was 18. I would have maybe been a little guy in the NBA for a few years. Well maybe not but I would have definitely been embarrassing folks on a much more regular basis during pickup games. I would only use this for training and fitness now that's it. Good stuff.
Nice vid! Subbed 👍

When he said "watch my arm..." I was like "ohh wait that's you!?!?!?!?"
finally someone says something about the off-arm. Nice.
Great vid breakdown
I'll take an XL shirt though
You are the best youtuber. I’m not joking
This is a good technique used to compete with defenders not having longer wingspan than your.
In case competing with longer wingspan defenders, I put my shoulder in place of my off-arm and let off-hand behind (Like a running ninja) so:
- i can prevent defender from reaching in front of me by my head and by the longer distance than their wingspan (created by my shouders lenght + my handling arm length).
- I can get lower than normal to explose to the basket cuz my behind off-hand gives me balance.
- I can prevent defenders from reaching behind by my behind off-hand.
I’ve been having trouble blowing by my defenders at higher levels. Gonna practice this more.
This is one of the most important concepts that separates beginners from experienced players. Basketball is a contact sport and the more physical you can be, the easier you can create space and prevent the opponent from lunging at you to make a play on the ball.
I really need to use it because it's used a lot against me and it's very effective.
Also very effective on step backs
i only i understand how to protect the ball, thank coach
I'll slapped that off hand right off the socket. Don't be sneaky. If you can't blow by a defender, pass or shoot. Those off hand become hooks, stiff, and elbows if they are not called out eventually, especially on pick up games.
Coach - thank you for the breakdown. I have a question though. How can defender defend this?
Offensive player now actively use the off arm to invade the defender space.
As a defender, if I clamp the offensive player arm, I guess that would be a foul? (but in my defense, I am just protecting my space, if the offensive player is not actively invading, the off arm should not be in contact with the defender)
10 seconds. Notifications squad boiii!
Dino Caushllari sheeeeesh keep it up! 💪
Lets go!!!!!!!!
Nice
very good breakdown. i didnt know some of these arent fouls either

Can you do a video on Scottie Pippen defence or Rodman's?
can you make a breakdwon on DLo and how he shoots love your channel bro
This shit was helpful af
hi can you can you make videos about Micheal Jordan, Kobe and Kwahi about the lost art in basketball the mid range game. Thanks.
My cousin taught me this one of my cousin uses this to perfection i use discreetly
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
2:53 what about that one right there, you said you cant bump but he did cause just like klay and a bunch of other well defenders hes really trying to cut off his direction, does it mattet how low the forearm is.. because im very shifty no cap and because people know that they try to cut me now i weigh 180 so i could easily do this, but they may call charge? its a great move if done right, but some defenders just try so hard lol and i have one more question, can defenders use their arms to getchu off balance not like a hand check but a blantant x arm type stuff? cause it happens to me man, they wont letcha boy work.. and last but not least gr8 video man.
Could you do a video on scottie pippen or Dennis Rodman plz
A video on Dennis Rodman's rebounding technique would be sick
Michael Terry facts
Very please
Can we use our second hand as guard during dribbling from other hand ??
Can we our second hand as gaurd during a layup??
how do you guard the off arm blow by or prevent it?
What do you think of harden uses the off arm? He toes the line between legal and illegal off arm contact with the push off but doesn’t get called for it often
I need to use this in my game!! People say I don’t like contact it’s because I never use my off arm. I just do floaters or dribble forever until I got them out of position
414beastmode or just run past them if your fast
Can you give us a link to the rule book.

Carl Baylin 😂😂😂😂
My coach beat tf out of us with pads to help keep our arms up while dribbling to keep the defenders hands off the ball and get space good lesson
Haven’t seen the video but Jordan off arm better be in here. Js
This always confused me essentially as long as Im dribbling i can turn my back and use my off arm to shield the blocker away. Im a big guy not NBA big but bigger than average and if my blocker was similar size or smaller they could do nothing to prevent me from getting closer to the hoop if I turned my back and dribbled and god forbid if I was big as Shaq.Always thought it was cheap especially if you use your hands. In my rulebook you can shove with your arms but not with your hand
Please I noticed that you have stopped the explanation of different types of ballhandlers
So can you continue the explanation?
Thanks!
