She's a toddler already? No no no, too fast! One of the biggest heart melting moments I had was sitting in the theater with my Daughter watching Ghostbusters Afterlife. Same age I sat in a theater with my mom watching the original Ghostbusters. Add my mother having passed away in 2019, the scene at the end with Ramis, I lost it. I don't think she saw, but I lost it.

Hi Christian, as a fellow computer child of the 80’s I love your 8 bit content however it’s the way you create the videos with such thought and warmth which is truly mind blowing. You both come across as such genuine and retro enthusiasts which is impossible to fake and makes it so much more enjoyable to watch all you do. Christian is one of the luckiest retro gamers ever to have owned an 8 bit Atari computer in the early 80's.As a fellow Englishman, I've only ever met one other Brit who owned an Atari 8 bit computer that wasn't a 2600/VCS variant and I didn't meet this gent until I was at uni circa 2000.
Owning a "proto Amiga" ie an Atari 400 or 800 gains you instant access into the lofty ranks of the retro computing elite for that alone.

I had an Atari 800 that my dad bought from Lasky's in Bromley, London in the early 80's. My dad upgraded the memory, got disk drives, the works. We had so many games as he was part of club of guys who used to hang out at 'The Silica Shop' in Sidcup, which was an Atari hub back in day. It was an awesome machine, but rare.

Love this! I had a very similar experience way back when I was just a nipper. The family computer was an Atari 130xe so the end of the line 400/800 family and my mum ordered a new game for it. I still vividly recall the box art with the giant monkey/gorilla on it and being told by my mum that it was the wrong game cartridge.. despite my protests that I was “sure I could make it work”, what I now know to be donkey kong for the 2600 got sent back to wherever she had ordered it from and I was sad..

Watch out for Donkey Kong, those barrels fly at like 900 mph at you, needs to be a way to cycle games down somehow.

It’s funny how many emotions kick in when you boot up an old game more so when it’s one of your all time fav games. Times of Lore on the C64 has this effect on me or Elite it’s like when you start a new game it feels like yesterday since you last played it let alone of 30 years ago. As always absolutely loved this video and I was a bit jealous of young Perri with his 5 o’clock shadow 😂. But the sweetest parts of the video was seeing the picture of the puppy’s and how you ended the video sitting playing g the game with your first born, I mean that must of made it extra special for you. As always keep up the great work and am looking forward to seeing the next one. Until then have a great weekend and you all take care 🙂

Your Star Wars sit in box game was my favourite, I’m back on holiday as a kid ok early teen playing it everyday in all places Filey - near Scarborough. I’ve in Glasgow so Filey was exotic 😂.
When life says “ didn’t see that coming did you” playing that game on your system for the first time with your lovely wee girl beside you watching on.

Pretty emotional. I was like that when I always wanted to play Ghostbusters on the C64. And I got the actual floppy disk. I cried when it took like 2 hours to load up......Lol.

You could've called this game "Bird vs Camel" and no one would've argued with you. ;)

You do realize that Jeff Minter wrote Attack of the Mutant Camels based on that Empire Strikes Back game. You could have played the clone.
Your tale of unrequited love always brings a tear to my eye. Blame Parker Brothers.
As for Ladyfractic, I don't think she was designed to accept cartridges. At least not directly, but I'm sure she is far more versatile and wonderful than Stella, who you also seemed to miss out on back when you were ten.
If I'd been there at that time I would have told you which gaming system it was designed for, but then you wouldn't have had an Atari 400 to enjoy.
Still, you got there in the end.
And what a heartwarming end to the video.

Dude... you're not crying... I'm crying. :) My parents weren't really gamers themselves... but they were quite supportive of allowing me and my brother to enjoy our passion of computers, arcades and videos games in my youth in the 80's. They bought us our first console (Atari 2600, and yes we loved TESB) and eventually our first computer (Vic-20), and we enjoyed them both on our glorious black and white TV! Turn the brightness down and crank up the contrast... and watch those Asteroid ships fly across the screen with that amazing white phosphor trail! Over the years I carried that on and bought my own c64, Amigas, etc. Thanks for sharing a flash back in time of your special memories, and how you are carrying them on with your little one. My kids are adults now, but we share a common love for video games.
