New sub buddy Hey bud I'm dealing with a commercial door at school it seems to to have 2 barrells on hinge top & bottom of hinge then center of hinge is just one long shaft .. can these door hinges be adjusted the same as any commercial door squeeze & spread method thx bud 👍
Im having an issue with a commercial sidelight door frame the frame moves from the bottom where the side light glass window is located old fasteners or it wasn't fastened properly I have to fix it can I fix that problem with out removing the door frame and disturbing the drywall tape and wallpaper basicly any way to fasten a doorframe to the floor with out reinstalling it ??????
Beer carton or cereal boxes make perfect shims.cut them almost the height of the hinge size....to throw a door over ,if lock side gap is too wide and hinge side may be binding (common) 1). Remove top hinge screws on frame (if it is a commercial door use a #3 phillips tip in your screw gun).pull hinge out of frame pocket. 2).use thin cardboard like a cereal box, won't crush when hinge screwed back.cut about 1/4'' wide, stack 2 to 3 together thick and tape with small piece of tape to the hinge pocket on frame on the right side (outside edge) of the first two hinge screws. 3).replace the hinge and put back screws. 4).close the door and see if gap is better, tighter.if gap is too wide in middle and bottom repeat process with the middle first then bottom hinges after, check gap each time. Now if your door hits the frame and is tight on the lock side (usually from chocking door open between top hinge and door) then repeat the same steps as before only place the shims on the inside edge of frame (by the frame stop edge) use two or three shims if needed, wrap tape around the shims, leave some sticking out to tape to frame hinge pocket. This will pull the door away from the lock side of frame.usually the top hinge will do the trick, but the others may need shimming if door is tight all the way. This is called "rocking the hinges" If you have stripped screws use a sharpened nail punch and punch head of screw counter clockwise to loosen, usually does it,also take a phillips screw driver, put into screw holes and hit with a hammer to unseize tight or painted screws.
It can be one of two things without seeing the door and both are pretty easy fixes. (1) the strike side leg is out of plumb or (2) the hinge side leg is out of plumb. If you have a laser or plumb bob you can check to see which leg of the frame is off and adjust accordingly. Let me know if that works. -KL
That’s good! It’s easier to move the strike side so then you’d need to pull/push over the strike leg to a point where your door has an even reveal. -KL
My trick when alone is inch the door in too far past the hinge pockets, just two or three inches, then reach up and grab top of door and pull back until one of the top hinge screw holes line up,put screw in but not tight untill all hinbes are in place.it will not fall in hinge pocket, then raise the door upwards and fit middle hinge in it's pocket,Then put a screw loosely in the middle and fit the bottom hinge in it's pocket, easier when middle hinge screw is loose. Now install all hinge screws and tighten them carefully as not to strip out the screws. Next is to close the door and check gaps...adjust as needed with hinge shims.
My dude! You made this a lot harder then it needed to be!
Sure, but we’ve got to show everything for the beginners. This is what it’s for. Or else we end up with tons of questions.

Get some inflatable wedges .
Sure but if you don’t have them, just stand the door.
