If I Were You Kitty and Matt

  • This music video is based on the series "Gunsmoke" with the focus of the relationship of Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty Russell.
    An early (November 29, 1952) radio episode that was simply titled "Kitty" provided a particularly significant insight into a major reason for the affinity that the two felt toward one another. Matt invites Kitty to a public dance and she is reluctant to accept for fear that she will be viewed with disdain due to her vocation as a saloon hostess. Matt is persistent and Kitty eventually relents, but her instincts prove correct. She is shunned and treated rudely by the respectable citizens in attendance, including a few men who avidly seek her company in other venues.
    Genuinely hurt, Kitty abruptly leaves the dance in tears and Matt becomes uncharacteristically angry with several individuals who imply that it is improper for a U.S. Marshal to be seen in such company. Subsequently, Matt seeks Kitty out to comfort her and reassure her that she will always have his admiration, affection, and respect, regardless of the views of others. Kitty is moved and cheered by Matt's gesture and the episode ends with the two sharing a private dance in an empty barroom. Matt's sincerity is obvious inasmuch as he himself sometimes finds that the respectable citizens of Dodge City regard him with trepidation (and even suspicion) because his job involves being "...paid to handle a bad element." It is apparent that the incident at the dance has considerably strengthened the bond and the trust between Matt and Kitty. Wikipedia, 2019).

    Your video really captures Amanda Blake's expressive eyes...she truly spoke with them. She and Jim Arness had great chemistry...they played Matt and Kitty's relationship in an understated, yet very heartfelt manner. It isn't easy to convey a relationship like theirs, and they did it with style. I also loved Kitty's sense of humor. She was a great part of the "boys club," a member every bit as important as Matt, Doc, and Chester and Festus. Great job! 😀

    You cannot tell me the loving looks between Matt and Kitty were not real between them. That is real love in their eyes.

    There was no one better than Matt Dillion and Chester, I regret he left after 9 years... but he was offered his own show.... but it was a pity he left also Kitty left the show in her 19 year, because she said she just complained way to much, nothing made her happy so she left but returned for special shows....... I LOVE THE SHOW GUNSMOKE

      I think you are a little hard on Amanda Blake. Yes she complained, The star of the show James Arness would only work one day a week and would only come to work after 8. Also she was being panelized for growing old and getting the middle age spread. They let her go (fired) her because they did not think a woman (the only woman ) on the show was important. A insult to all the middle aged woman that loved Gunsmoke . It did not take long for them to realis there mistake.

      @@virginiabollinger2826 just saw this video, Amanda wasn't fired, she left of her own accord. She apparently saw a script in the 1973 to 1974 season of her being on a train with Doc, it called for her being assaulted, she and director John Meston had disagreements over that. She also was tired of commuting from her home in Phoenix to LA. She did say she saw the rest of the cast and Jim Arness about once a year after she left. I think Jim really did care about her though.

    • @cyndyrob350
      @cyndyrob350 4 роки тому +6

      I have also read that Amanda didn’t return for the final season because her good friend (Sam the bartender) had passed and it was too painful to go to work without him.

    She was devastatingly beautiful especially when young and little make up...him tall and handsome and cool and the ultimate alpha male. Very nice video. I am 73 and did not get hooked on it while young like now. I try to find new episodes only in black and white but if it is one I've already seen I often just watch it all over again they are so well written and acted. I completely understand why the writer did not morph their relationship into marriage. Their love never needed to be illustrated that way. And the script could not have continued anymore.
    He made Charles Bronson look like a little twerp and beat the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world in a street fight...all completely believable. You watch a series like Cheyanne and it seems, I don't know, hokey compared to this show.
