- What a splash!! After 18 weeks it's finally time to launch my homebuilt skiff!
Weather was perfect with plenty of sun and winds 11 to 20 kt!
The skiff surpassed all expectations and it was planning with every gust!
Helm was balanced and at no stage I felt out of control or as if I was fighting the boat.
Just awesome!

Everyone who donated your project will be as happy as I am to see your smiling faces. A wonderful new toy.
Thanks for your support Hans! 😉
Parabéns! Congratulations!
Obrigado!
Excelente projecto sem dúvida, Parabéns!
Obrigado
Good speed. Two Thumbs Up.
Double dagger board with rudder provides good lateral counter effort. I might add planes for hydrofoil lift(boards & rudder) and employ two forward side boards with planes instead of the one on the center line.
Sails_ Fore and aft two sail plan or big batted single like a sailboard.
Such a clean release of the wake from the transom. Looks great.
That's exactly what stood out for me also. Smooth as butter
Iook fast an fun to sail!
I would like to see you add an outrigger to your boats, try do to a sailing canoe like in Moana.
The design she has does not need to shunt, it keep in the same direction and you use your weight and the outrigger to balance the force of the sail.
Hi Alex,
multihulls were never my thing, and the Goose is very stable ! 😁
amazing as I expected.
Thanks buddy!
i love that velocity, i will built my own this summer
Awesome! 😁
Brilliant!
Genious man 😎👨✈️👨✈️
She might not be pretty, but she sure can sail! The boat,I mean! Amazing!
😁
Congratulations! Looked like so much fun! 🎉
It was!
Haha - how awesome...!!
Thanks Dave! 😁
Such a cool boat!!! That’s awesome!
Cool
Espectacular...👍👏👍
Obrigado Vitor!
Muito brigade. My most successful BYBB (Back Yard Built Boat was a “Brick”, a BOLGERism similar in design if not dimension to your Oz Goose. She was named “Slick Brick”; she road on top of cars or in the back of pickups to the Texas Gulf Coast (and the Florida Atlantic ICW) for ~10 years ‘til she just plain wore out. Nothing as utile since.🇺🇸
OBRIGADO! Stupid smartphone.
Thanks!
The goose is LOOSE! Bravo!
Impressive!! Thank's
Thank you too!
Great job and a rewarding sail!
Thank you!
Planing this brick looks like so much fun! It looks really fast and responsive.
...and it is! 😁
What an amazing first sail! No messing around and straight into it! Really looking forward to hearing you talk more about it etc.
Congratulations! Well done!
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks for your support! 😉
Congratulations!
Thank you!
oH mY gOSH, the air pressure from the heat ..... hopefully that is the most stress the hull ever sees.
but you two were almost as fast as a catamaran with one person !!! .... Congratulations.
Thank you Erik! 😉
Thanks for the video. She's not slow.
you did the OZGoose proud with that build and first sail. Your lovely lady friend had fun too! I would call all of this a good job!
😁
Parabéns pela finalização do projeto e obrigodo pela videodocumentação. Desejo-lhe muitos passeios felizes!
Obrigado!
Brilliant result Teo. But nothing less than I would have expected from you. Once again superbly filmed and presented - and what a great finale! ...the Oz Goose sails great - Michael Storer must be very happy with such a fantastic endorsement of his design. May you and your family have many happy adventures in her 😀...and don't forget to share!
Thank You Paul! I'm sure we'll have a blast sailing different waterways now! 😉
I want to hear comparisons to the GIS.
I need to sail it a bit more!! 😁
@@TheBoatRambler I also need to sail more 🤣
So great to see the goose on the water!!
Yall be flying, lol
💪💪💪
Wow! It is flying!
Now that is a maiden voyage! Congrats on the goose!
Any plans for her? Like, whats next?
Next I will have to make small add-ons to make it easier to cartop and for cruising.
Well done, great build and sailing! 👍
Many thanks Karl!
Congrats!!! It make me miss even more my OZ GOOSE!!!!
Thanks!
She's a little hot rod absolutely glorious congratulations!
Thanks!
Mate that thing flies! Well done.
Thank you Jason!
Now all she needs is a name.
She has one...I just haven't told you guys yet because I couldn't get the vinyl cut in time! 😉
Teo, this is superb, you're certainly going to have fun with the "bathtub"!!!!!
you got photo bombed at the end lol
😎
Would be fun seeing the speed 😎
On the last video you can see the speed! 😉
ua-cam.com/video/h3o20nskgFA/v-deo.html
Wow ... looks like she flies along
That was a real BLaST!
Fantástico. Parabéns
Obrigado
Awesome, Teo! What an endorsement of the Goose. In the water and straight off, first time, with outstanding performance, lots of fun and clear stability. Congratulations!
It was amazingly stable!!
Teo, brilliant video, the one we have all been waiting for.
Thanks
Great little boat ... noting another Michael Storer work of art in use. Looks like a little getting used to the tack on that one, with less room to it's "dance" as you jump side to side. Still, so much smoother than I would be.
Good time Teo... all the best.
I think the tiller extension might be a bit too long, and I need to practice tacking with Marina involved in the process too!
Uau! 😃Esse barco é realmente rápido! Parabéns, Teo! Ficou espetacular!
Obrigado Felipe!
We had ear-to-ear smiles watching your first sail! Congratulations on your new build!
Thanks so much Erik! 😉
That box has got some speed. :)
Brilliant launch and maiden sail! She handles well in the gusts, and even on gybes, with centering the main sheet. Enjoyed the flotilla, too! This launching video is dramatic compared to others of home made boats, as you had to learn immediately to trim the boat for gusts-without prior practice on a calm lake. I wondered how she would flap or skid (yaw) upwind, but she seems to handle well with a little heeling. The steering is responsive even with the rudder part way up. Overall, one of your best videos!
Thanks Jeremy! 😁
Well she sails like a demon Teo!!! She looked quite stable too and the water coming out of the transom was so flat. What an awsome little boat, you're going to have a lot of fun in her. Congrats on the build, what a success!!
Hi Dave,
it was such a surprise. While I was hoping it would perform well the responsiveness and the amazing stability really caught me off-guard!
It's nice to hear you speaking Portuguese... I wouldn't mind hearing a translation lesson or two in your videos. Just for fun. 😊
The boxy box definitely seems to sail well. Have you given it a name too?
I do have a name but couldn't get the vinyl cut in time....soon! 😉
wow ! well done 👍
Well done Teo.
It runs like a piece of wet soap
Good job😂
🤣
3:47 there you have it: The Sam Holmes Moment.
Great video, congratulations!
Lovely to hear laughter aboard the sailing boat. The Goose and Tally Ho both afloat. What a (northern hemisphere) season it's turning out to be!
Thanks! Don't forget Yaba down south...😉
Bravo, Teo! Congratulations on your new, wonderful boat!🤩
Thank you! 😃
Congratulations from Nova Scotia, Canada!
Thanks!
Brillant mate, what a buzz, great work. Cheers
Many thanks Ken!
its a ripper! well done
Wow, that thing hauls ass even with a relatively small sail! I may have to build one for my shallow lagoon!
Hi Charles, the sail isn't that small, it's 8sqm, most 3.6m dinghies don't carry that much sail. But I would like to have an extra couple of sqm for the low wind days too...
@@TheBoatRambler I guess I'm just thrown off by the shape. Thank you for the clarity!
Bravo! Now you can get your speed fix anywhere! Good job!
That's the plan! 😁
Well, I'm impressed.
This has to be the fastest brick in the west!
Sei fantastico, bravissimo e grazie.
Congratulations on your fine Goose. You turned head with your GIS,Now you'll do it again. Good to see Mik's boats being sailed overseas.
Thank you!
I have followed your channel with your GIS. Now you have another of Mik's designs. Of course i will be following
Looks like a bigger version of the "optemist jolle" I used to sail when I was 6-8 years old😊❤
He taught us how the project works
Congratulations ❗
She sails fantastic ❤
Regards 😁
magnifique ! bravo pour cette superbe construction
Wow! Performs great! Gave that cat a run for its money!
That little Hittia 14 is fast and doesn't care for chop either!
A fast beautiful boat and a beautiful woman. Who could ask for more?
congratulations!
Thank you!!
Excellent. Beautiful job of building her, and she sails so well.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations, Teo. The best solution I've seen for breather holes in buoyancy tanks is to insert a small pvc tube, say 3mm into a drilled hole leaving the end free. This prevents water being sucked in as the boat flexes. We used them on ply scow moths.
Thanks for the tip James!
That's a beasty, great choice built with precision, bravo sir.
Thanks Bruno!
Looked great👍
Thanks 👍
Amazing, flying over the waves
yes, when it starts planning the bow lifts and the chop just goes under!!
Congratulations on the build and the first sail! Thanks for sharing this with your viewers.
Thanks for watching Jim! 😉
Looks like a lot of fun .
You guys are screaming! Shows you don't have to spend a bunch of money to enjoy spirited sailing. Love how you're leaving the keelboats in the dust because you're planing.
Awesome 👍🏻
That's a blast! My favorite dinghy sailing channel on youtube. I am building my own nesting dinghy type boat too, almost finish now. Can you share your rudder box build? how do you secure the rudder? I am still deciding to build rotation type or just a simple box like yours.
Thanks! : )
The rudder box is just ... a box. The ruder is secured with some bungee cord. lift/kick up rudder can't really be used in any other position than fully down without affecting the helm balance. Cassette rudders can be lowered according to depth and the helm will still be good.
have a look in this video for the rudder box build. ua-cam.com/video/QdPtwDyS7p8/v-deo.html
@@TheBoatRamblerThat's good idea! Thanks alot, much appreciated.
:)😊
Brilliant, Teo!!!!
Joyous, love your enthusiasm. Happy sailing!
Always!
CONGRATULATIONS 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you Marcus!!
Three thumbs up! Nice job building her, so glad to see you and the wife on the water. Good set-up with the hiking strap so that two can use it.
Thanks for your support Jerry 👍
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 Nice and fun dinghy
Thank you 🤗
Espectáculo ... 😃
Obrigado Amigo Vadio!
I had a smile on my face all video. Super happy for you. She can fly!! Lot's of fun your way, Teo. Enjoy! PS: I'm near by, in Sesimbra. I have a small beach cat in Lagoa de Albufeira. Now, that you have a car-topable one, maybe you can come over and try sailing in the lagoon. Just let me know and I'll be there.
Hi!
that was actually what I had planned for her first trip out of the estuary! 😁
@@TheBoatRambler Had a nice late morning last Saturday there. Solid 10/12 kn, 20ish gusts...
I used to have a windsurf rig there at Rui's club some 30 years ago.
@@TheBoatRambler With the bunch of stuff Rui has in that place, maybe your rig is still there, stored under a pile of old stuff or something ahahahah... not 30, but 27-28 years ago I was there as well, taking my first rides on a big "bacalhau" board with a oversized sail (for my 12 years old self).
Brilliant! Bonito! Well done Teo, mission successful.
Yes! Thank you! 😁
Bravo Teo pour cette réalisation
I guess you are familiar with RS Sailboats? Every one of them has a 2.5mm breather hole somewhere, so I'm thinking you could leave your drill holes to allow pressure equalisation. Boat looks like it sails nicely, I'm interested to see if you will keep the Goat now you have this: I have a little home-built boat but I also want something to camp in, interested to see how your thoughts develop.
Hi Robert,
I'm not sure...I like both boats but keeping two spots at the club plus my 30ft cruiser won't be easy.
Congratulations! She really gets up and goes!
Looks quick!
Looks like epic fun!
Hi Ben,
It was soooo much fun!! I really didn't think it would handle that well!
@@TheBoatRambler It as certainly going. A you get used to it it will fly! Which, looking at it as basically a box is quite something. The curve under the water is what makes it so good.
Superb Teo! Congratulations!!!! Flying !
Thanks a lot!
Congratulations! I love those transom shots! And a surprise appearance by Edgar too!
Thank you!!
