    Hello! I’m Audrey and I have TS too (Classic Type), and I was diagnosed at 5. I see my endocrinologists every 6 months and have been on growth hormones since I was 6 (I’m 14 now) and I’m 4’ 9”. I feel very out of place at high school (Class of 2023) and feel like I stand out from the crowd 24/7. I have been on estrogen for about a year now and am very insecure about my lack of development and not being as developed as my peirs. My doctors have diagnosed me with early ovarian failure at 9 years old and it is just hitting me that I most likely won’t be able to have my own kids, I want kids and really want to have kids of my own. I want to get tested in a few years to see if I can freeze my eggs but I don’t think that I can. love this video and the whole turners community makes me feel less alone. I don’t have many of the symptoms of turners, except for the ovaries, height, and I have a slightly enlarged Aorta. Overall though I am pretty healthy, and am thankful that I have such wonderful doctors and my family is always supportive of me and helps me with whatever I need. I want to become an endocrinologist when I grow up to help more people with my condition and study it more because I think it’s fascinating, and I also want to dissolve some of the stigma for new moms that are expecting a baby with turners. Anyways if you’ve read this far leave a 🦋 in the comments and feel free to share your stories as well because I love reading them ❤️❤️❤️

    👍 I also have TS but my story is a lot different to most... I had no idea until I was diagnosed at age 29. I was on the operating table having a c section when they noticed that one of my ovaries was totally empty and the other was 1/4 of the size it should have been. I guess that along with my short stature they knew and had me tested the next day. The doctors had no clue how I managed to conceive let alone naturally. I had irregular periods my entire life but I fell pregnant 3 months after I got married. We talked about the idea of trying one night and little did we know I was literally about 3 weeks pregnant already :-) She is now 5 and a half and started prep this year! Glad to have heard some of your story :-)

      Cheeky Middleton Hi, that’s good to hear... it gives me hope. I just got diagnosed with 10% of the 45x mosaism. Do you know if you can give that to your child?

      I fit in this category to. I'm 47 and had genetic testing done. Doctors suspect I have Turners. I had normal puberty and have one child. Women who fit in this category typically have mosaic Turners. That means we have have some normal XX chromosones in some of our cells instead of all of them. I also feel sad my mother didnt notice anything was wrong with me and didnt get me help in a timely fashion. I am really wrestling with this right now as opposed to the actual diagnosis...

    • @mimiwill5618
      @mimiwill5618 4 роки тому

      @@alejandrareyes8694 I did some reading for you and Turners occurs as a random event in cell division. Typically it isnt inherited but if a mother has part of her X chromosone missing, that can be passed down to her offspring. Still it is rare. Please take this with a grain of salt. I got the information off google and their is a lot of misinformation out there, so a doctor who specializes in genetic testing can better tell you. I dont want to give the wrong information...

    As a recent graduated doctor, you helped me to understand better what Turner kids got to go through. Lotta information that I unfortunately did not learn in medical school. We go so fast from one genetic syndrome to the other that we do not understand what's real like. Personally, i've never met a patient with Turner's so it's really hard to have a grasp of it. Thanks for sharing. btw, you published this vid one day after my anniversary. It should not matter, it's 2020 after all, but you know, i couldn't help thinking... cheers from Brazil.

    My granddaughter looks like a short, chubby, beautiful 28 year old. I love the hell out of her! I would die for her! I always tell her just to be who she is!
    She is sad she doesn’t have the choice to have kids and that’s the issue! CHOICE
    I told her in this crazy world we aren’t doing any child a favor being born in the 20 th century! This place is way over populated! The future is kind of scary
    Global warming etc.
    I’m old- when you’re old everything isn’t so emotional.
    You are beautiful! Be whom ever you want to be! Take a few deep breaths.
    Life is soo short, it’s over before you realize it. Enjoy every day!
    Love, health and happiness to you always👍🏻🌻🤗💕💕💕

    Love your video, and relate to your story 100%. I have TS too! I went though a phase of body resentment. I would compare my body to other women's. This weird middle ground of never felling like a women or a man. I have only recently come out as intersex, pansexual and non-binary. No longer living as of a cis, straight, women was the best thing in my life!

    Hey there! I'm Kate, and I have TS as well. Yours is the first video I've seen where someone with Turner's has used the word intersex to describe themself, and I just found that really interesting. I don't know if I'd call myself intersex- I've always felt female, but still different from other women at the same time. So I think I understand why 'intersex' fits for you. There is a whole gender spectrum, and all of us with Turner syndrome fit on there somewhere I think. And we shouldn't have to justify how we identify ourselves- there's no 'right' or 'wrong' answer.

    My baby just got diagnosed with TS and I can’t wait to meet her!!! I want you to know that you are so unique and special to God. Your identity is defined by his love and nobody and nothing else!!! Life is short and eternity is long. I am really hoping that you can find some people of faith who are accepting and loving. It is truly a miracle that you are alive. You defied all the odds. Not many babies with TS make it, only 2%!! You are that 2%. You have a powerful calling and purpose in your life and I hope you did super deep in not only society and social Justice and the trans community trends, but into the words of God. He is so in love with you. He is in LOVE with you. And one day there will be a wedding!!!

    I have TS as well. I was diagnosed anywhere from 3-6 months old. They noticed that I wasn't growing "as fast" and one of the nurses actually ended up calling health and welfare on my mom cause they thought she wasn't feeling me.. sure enough they did a couple test and bam.. TS. I am 17 and 4'5. Taking estrogen and growth hormone everyday. I get bullied EVERYDAY at school because of my height. And because of my height (I'm pretty sure) I've never had a boyfriend. That adds onto the bullying. I get made fun of because I've never had a boyfriend. These 2 things have been the main source of my self confidence issues. Also because us TS girls can't have kids I want to be A Neonatal Nuse. I love kids and it breaks my heart that I most likely won't be able to have my own. I'm guessing your a little older than me (first video of yours I have watched) and I've never seen anyone my age talk about their story so if anyone my age wants to share that would be greatly needed to help me realize I'm not alone

    I was born with Turner's Syndrome too, and it took me years to come to terms with it. Like you, I wanted to believe I was normal, but now I ask myself what that word really means. My attitude about the situation has changed through the years, and now instead of thinking of my condition as a stumbling block I use it as a reminder to be thankful that I'm unique, because let's face it. If everyone were "normal," the world would be pretty boring. You are a very strong and beautiful person. Keep doing you, and don't let anything anyone says about you or the way they act toward you keep you from enjoying life.

  • @mrspaisley1

    Please don't take this wrong and I hope it doesn't seem disrespectful, but I have a genuine question. I also have Turners and I don't understand why you consider yourself intersex. Never have I questioned my gender. Typically that term is used to refer to individuals that are born anatomically with both or undetermined genitalia. Genetically girls with Turners are female, simply part or all the 2nd sex chromosome is missing. If you don't identify as female that is one thing, but I don't understand how it relates to Turners. Being a woman is more than being able to have a biological child. However thank you for spreading the word about TS and I wish you all the best!

    • @salvolondon
      @salvolondon 7 років тому +5

      I agree with you , I have studied genetics, Turner syndrome is not an intersex condition at all .

    • @suhakka
      @suhakka 7 років тому +2

      Interesting point. I went and had a look. Although wikipedia can be wrong, it says: "Intersex people possess any of several variations in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, sex hormones, or genitals". So that would make Turner very much intersex.

    • @Mickiethepoet
      @Mickiethepoet  7 років тому +8

      mrspaisley1 hi guys!! Intersex can mean different genitalia but also it can mean chromosomes that do not fit the typical male or female sex. It is totally dependent on whatever you are comfortable calling yourself

    • @salvolondon
      @salvolondon 6 років тому

      +suhakka not really , inter means in between , so in between sexes . So intersex is the politically correct term to what was ( and still is ) called hermaphroditism and pseudohermaphroditism . There are several syndrome where that can cause pseudohermaphroditism and those are intersex conditions . Turner syndrome is not in between the 2 sexes cause has nothing of the opposite sex. No Y chromosome , no trsticulat tissue , no ambiguous genitalia . Turner syndrome is not an intersex condition . Remember , inter means between , and Turner is not between the 2 sexes .

    • @falloncousins2357
      @falloncousins2357 6 років тому

      mrspaisley1 not fitting into the genders girl and boy is non binary, not necessarily intersex. Not 100% sure if TS effects this but from my research it does not.

    I just watched your video and started crying cause your words are exactly how i feel with living with Turners syndrome😭😭 the thing about not fitting in with either being a girl or boy and just being in between was my biggest struggle in childhood and it took to i was 25 to accept this and i also recented everything about Turners and it has completly ruined my life not taking care of the issuses that comes with it. Diabetes, hypotyreosis for a start but also my hearing problem, i use hearing aids. Im also 5.1 and i am happy with that though! But im not going to be able to have biological kids but i also have decided not to have kids at all and i think that is the best choice for me. Stay strong my turner sister! There's literally no reason to feel insecure. I'm not saying this to disregard your feelings, but because any kind of syndrome is nothing that should be ashamed of, just because of the society. Of course, some people struggle less than others, but even if it puts us down sometimes, it's how we stand up afterwards. From the first few minutes of the video I knew your soul was so pure and beautiful. I'm always very glad to listen to people's stories regarding their struggles and secrets in life, because it truly shows how beautifully diverse the world we live in is.

    when I was 10. I was taller than all the other kids. I hated my body. I already was getting a large chest. Big butt. Started my menstuation. I was only 10. I didn't feel like I fit in anywhere. Childhood is so difficult. It's horrible to not like yourself. In my 20's I became more accepting of me. I still feel different. But I am happy now. It only took me about 40 years to reach this point. And I am a Mom of 7 girls all adults now. They can tell you almost the same horrors of childhood. All of them are happy now too. You feel exactly the way all of us have felt. Your human. We all survived it. High five!

    When you look at how life proceeds, it is amazing that as many biological entities approximate the template as do. Some folks drift further from the default than others. You are as you are supposed to be, you just have a different blueprint. Chaos is the real default of the universe. Finding the balance in chaos is the challenge. Sounds trite but just be the best you that you can be.

    Snowflakes are the most unique and beautiful things in the world, so I am glad you embrace that and turn an insult on its head like that. You are very brave and you really helped me by sharing your story. My daughter was recently diagnosed with Turner, and I honestly wracked my brain thinking what her life will be like later on. Your video really answered some questions for me, and I hope that she has high self-esteem like you, but I understand there will be struggles. All the women in our family are so tall. I am 6'1". My other daughter is 16, and she is 5'11" already. I want my youngest, who has Turner, to know that she is beautiful and accepted, and I hope no one gives her a hard time and that she adjusts to the changes okay. If you have advice for a parent and how I should approach things will her, I am very open to that. She is 9 years old currently. Do you have any advice for talking about the infertility? On one hand, I think knowing early can help her adjust, then again I want her to be a kid and not think and worry about that, but then again, she may feel worse to learn it as a teenager. I am very worried for her, but coming to UA-cam and seeing vidoes like yours gives me hope. If you have information on innersex, videos or tumblr pages or anything, that you can link to that would help me out a lot. Do you have any companion diseases or problems? My daughter also has Celiac disease and hyperthyroidism.

      Hi!! I'm so glad that my video can be a good resource for you!! I will help in anyway that I can! I was told about my infertility at a fairly young age, but everyone deals with the pain surrounding learning that differently. I think it actually helped me to learn earlier on so that I could learn to accept the idea of adopting and feel comfortable with it! I also have hypothyroidism and had to have kidney surgery at a year and a half old. And I also have high blood pressure. The greatest resource I've found is the Turners syndrome society of the US: www.turnersyndrome.org/

    First of all;great video, you are so so brave ❤️
    Second of all; My sister (10 years old) just got tested for a few things because she is really short. One of these things, is turners syndrome. I am really worried for her, and I have been googling for it a lot. I have noticed a few things in the way she looks that apparently are typical for people with turners and I don't think anyone else in my family knows about these. I don't want to tell them either, because I don't want to scare them since we haven't even gotten the test results back. But I would love it if someone with any knowledge about turners would tell me if she might have turners if she has some extra skin around her eyes and that her nails grow upwards?

    My 5 year old has TS as well. I got pregnant 3 years after she was born(miscarried), but that baby was missing a chromosome. Its so crazy. I also didn't know how many girls have this because I've never heard of it till they told me my daughter has it.

    YOU are NORMAL. You are among the normal variation, that NATURE can create, you are uniq, and I think you are VERY attractiv , and you can be both , you can be both , and even if you cant concive natrual , you can ADOPT, I grew Up as a fosterchild and was adopted as grown up, but I NEVER LOVED My fostermother less than my biological birthmother and my fosternmother didnt love me less, because I wasent her biological Child( didnt mean we didnt have problems though).
    You think you have a problem, yeh you need treatment, but thats not importent , my niece needs treatment ( she got diabetes) thats also tuff , but it doesnt matter, you two just need a bit of support to live your life, and thats OKEY. It is.

    It’s a weird self reflection! You reflect on the way you are developing and making sure you are developing like you should be that you are hitting the development markers but then compare yourself as a teen as a teen would with stuffing your bra with tissues to make you bigger. I get the grey world !

    I also have ts i found out when i was 17
    I relate to your story my whloe life i have alway felt diffrent i was always questioned about my hight i was told my hight was not normal by other kid.
    Even to this day i still have a hard time excepting myself sometime i feel very empty
    At 17 i went from being a normal teenage to have to take growth hormone estrogen replacenet patches and tablets to get a peried
    It hard being diffrent but you learn to live with it i have a lot of the same feelings as you do about sexuality and i also found out that i am asexual i have never felt any attraction for males or female sometime i felt like i dont no where i fit as a person.
    Thank you so much for shareing your story to help other learn that they are not alone so thank you

    I don't have Turner syndrome but I'd only about five feet and a quarter inch so you're taller than me so it's not too short.

    Im late, but i struggle with turners syndrome as well. My ring finger is shorter on both hands and it embarrasses me, but now that I know what it stems from i feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin. Any of you can add me on facebook if you need a friend, Corrine Williamson. Same profile pic as my yt

    I'm another turners syndrome non-binary kid I was diagnosed when I was 12 and funny story I met my best friend like a year before I was diagnosed and I brought up to her that I was being tested for this thing called turners syndrome and she said she had that and that when her mom first met me she thought I had it but didn't say anything at the time but low and behold I do have it, I like to blame my shortness on ts but I really know it's from my mom who's only 5'1

    I'm Alexis, I have mosaic turners syndrome. I always got bullied for my height. taking my growth shots was always the worst part of the night. I'm 18 and at a final height of 4' 9". I kind of get the hating your body when you find out you can't have kids. I'm grateful that I'm a loner and don't really plan on having/wanting kids.
