Started tattooing couple months ago and I’ve tattooed one client for free and she insisted to pay me I refused so after couple of days there she is with this shiny black and gold Flux max 4.0. Can say best gift in my life I love it maybe because it is a gift but it is a tool. It’s like a gucci shirt you know haha, wouldn’t have spent 1250€ on machine right now and maybe I would do more research before investing so much money but I like the simplicity and how quite it is and one thing I’ve noticed, I was tattoing with dragonhawk mast archer 3.5 and then I try this machine and I didn’t draw 10 times better with it haha… but yeah, toyota will bring you everywhere where mercedes can but you would appreciate mercedes as a gift. Another thing that I’ve noticed is that tattooers that are coaching me were like “oh, now you leveled up..”, no I didn’t, haha. Cheers

I’m hoping you get back to me, when using the egive feature, I find my machine slows down, like it’s dropped voltage, and then doesn’t go back up until I turn it off and on again. Do you experience this too?
I always thought, it was meant to slow down, then when I pull the needle out of the skin, it should speed back up again automatically?
I’m trying to figure out if my PowerBolt 2 has an issue with it or not.
    Thanks

All due respect they don’t all work the same and aren’t all the same quality. Some are good like some of the dragon hawk batteries that are made to people spec. But the really cheap ones from Amazon aren’t and they don’t stand the test of time. As for xnet machines some of theirs are copy’s off other brands. If you support copyright infringement then you are one of the many reasons why machine prices are on the rise. Also they aren’t the same and don’t have the same safety testing and certificates. But it you want to risk a battery blowing up in your hand to save some money, crack on jeevs.

Yeah like you said, as this machine is completely electronic, autoclaving is out of the question just like my Bronc Hummingbirds "cpt the grip, as a tattoer and a collector I've machines that can do it, and the cams, is there an easy way to take apart the machine and change the stroke to a 4, 4.2 or 5? You can hit me up if you wanted a white brand new Injecta Flite X1 Pro Edition cheap, i used the smoke color, as an old school tattoer i loved the wireless foot switch on this Max, that's plus but I'm not comfortable with the 4.5 on this specific machine, they could've given us an option to change the cam, they should've known it by now, it's almost like using the Dragonhawk Wraith which I prefer more at this moment about the give adjustment, but onlly have the Max for a couple of weeks, even though it's an old machine, the Wraith with the soft hit is my fav, the Raven i can't feel the change, but since Daniel @Daniel Yuck introduced me to the CNC's i'm lovin it, but all in all great content and a decent machine

Morning! Thanks very much for the review! I fell in love with my 4.5 Flux Max! I felt like lining with it was cheating. Like you go in for a big test and they give you a cheat sheet with all the answers. Really good experience. I did get caught up in how easy it seemed that a few lines in I had to reset myself coz 2 lines didn't pack as well. The machine does not do all the work hahaha oups. That's how good it felt. I used it on e give 02. Having never experienced give before (learned on rotary cheyenne) i couldn't say if the technology works but I can tell you I felt a difference between my bishop wand packer and the Flux Max when lining. I do feel less vibration on the skin so it's harder to know the right depth guess that's coz of e give. I didn't like it as much as my wand for stippling, ill try it without the give. I did see a difference in some clients saying it's more painful and others saying it's a lot less painful. Love to see the hertz and volts at the same time on the screen makes a hell lot more sense to me. And the sensing of the cartridge it does change when changing needles, i had to readjust the volts à bit when putting in a bigger needle. Awesome review I learned a lot !! Can't wait till next video and the comparison between unlimited 5.0 and Flux Max ! 😄😄 have a nice week!!

Great review Chris.. I recall you were a big fan of the flux.. so not surprisingly you like the max.. in truth I can’t help feeling that FK are taking the Piss out of people a bit now.. a lot of people were unhappy with the flux software etc, and many had to return it for repair/reboot, as it just died after software updates or whatever it was. Then it was the Exo, which was just a flux (like really) with a diff grip and adaptor ability if desired.. now it’s the flux max.. so it feels like 😝🖕🏻 to all the suckers who bought the flux for way over a grand.. like for a eleven hundred quid a piece we tested the prototype on the industry .. and now here’s what it shoulda been.. at 1300+ 😳🙄… I’m sure it’s a great machine to work with, just feel a bit for the people who maybe aren’t earning big bucks who laid out a lot of money on prototype flux with bugs. Gaston.. throw your customers a bone.. 🤨
Rant over.. but come on man.. they’re releasing these machines every 6month now.. prices going up n up..
On a point you made.. I was sold on 3.5 strokes for a long time.. never tried the longer strokes as the reviews and guys I knew (who also listened to the hype/reviews) all was under the idea that black n grey was best at 3.5 or under.. but I’ve been using the packer….. & the Liner, pretty much solely, for a while now.. if I’m doing a back ground fade, like black to nothing larger area gradient, then yes, I switch to a smaller stroke machine, or maybe the ghosting type fades of face contours in a realism portrait, especially on children portraits.. again a shorter stroke..
But.. like you commented on the 4.5stroke max… the liner at 5.0 has been great.. genuinely zero issues, the ink goes in so quickly and efficiently I’m never needing multiple passes.. in fact, I’d say I’m often getting LESS trauma. - obv just my experience.. but it is just that.. an an opinion based experience .. not regurgitating someone else opinion from a review
It’s apparent you like this machine, but props to you for still stating the improvements they could make
👀 2023 FK release the flux max max that doubles up as a vacuum cleaner and walks the dog whilst on stand by mode @ £1700 😂😉

Hey, Paul Here. I couldn't agree with you more on this point!
I think ALL machine manufacturers should be building machines that are a PLATFORM for incremental improvements. Rather than a new revision every 6 months.
What Happened to 3 cams in the box. Just fit whichever stroke you want/need? And swap the motor out yourself if it dies.
What happens next? Machines with planned obsolescence? The latest operating system for the give system only works with 'snow-donkey 10.4.5.5.6'?
I think the current business model used by most 'big' manufacturers sucks!

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  2 роки тому

      Hey buddy chris here.
I completely get what you are saying you have some really valid points about how the way things have been done can upset a lot of people within the tattoo industry.
Which makes me really think we should be at a point where we can swap out the motor bodies etc.
So that way if you have a flux and want the longer thread you only need to buy essentially the “frame” and just swap it out from your old machine. That’s the way I think it should be going otherwise we will be in an iPhone style cycle with tattoo machine.
I do like the machine for sure and I think it’s going to be one of those things where if you like it you will, if you don’t like it you don’t like it.
Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment :)

@@ThatTattooShow snowdonkey 😂🤣🤣 hilarious, but your right.. like Chris said, it’s kinda following the Apple model.. like your getting tied in.. trapped.. when I bought the FK Xion, it came with the changeable cams.. same as the Edge X.. seems like the new standard is a huge fee for what is in essence a max on motor that powers an armature bar.. same as it always was, but in a nicer looking shell!! Now agreed, they are more comfortable to hold etc etc, but it’s a rotary machine - at some point it has to realistically hit a point where the price becomes to much.. yes, engineers spend time designing them, but they’re engineers, it’s what they do and are paid to do.. sell a 5000 Flux max = £6.5million.. there’s a huge profit.. plus the fact they release them every few months now.. watch this space for the Flux max PLUS
It is almost at a point now where I can’t really see what more they can do.. They took the foot pedal away with the wireless, now they’ve reintroduced the foot pedal, for wireless 🤣🤣 ironic
I purposely bought the wand with out the power bolt thingy.. I like the freedom of being able to plug the 200pound B Charged battery I purchased on whichever machine I please.
If my hands weren’t older now and more damaged, I’d get my iron Micky Sharps Hybrid out.. bless the old girl, I hammered that machine so much the threading on the tube screw went mid tattoo.. went screw fix and re threaded it with a thumb screw bolt 😂🤣 good old days 😍

I mean, I still enjoy using them but a new stroke is over $500 and I really want to get a killswitch foot pedal but of course it won't work with my old batteries so it will cost another $500 to get the footswitch because I'd have to buy a new battery. So frustrating, kinda feel taken advantage of. But hey, at least they can keep coming up with new color machines every month that I can't afford 🤣

The one with the skull? That’s some of our very old shop merch. No longer available sadly. Chris.

That’s a hard one cause both machines are so different in how they feel when you use them. I suppose it comes down to what you prefer in regards to the motor type and if you need to be wireless

I love my Cheyenne's, they're the bomb, but it's perspective, as tattoing is subjective what one loves others don't, it all comes down to personal preference but it can't beat the Cheyenne's, just my personal opinion, just put a Critical in it

how do you feel it compares to the acus m1?

    • @ThatTattooShow
      @ThatTattooShow  2 роки тому

Both have good points and both have bad points.
I’m more comfortable using the flux and I like the modular design.
although I really like the ability to strip down the machine like the acus m1 and swap out the cams.
But performance wise I think at a 4.5mm stroke I’m getting better results with flux max over the acus m1. Maybe that’s because I’m used to the was the flux runs etc.

Thank you, Chris, this video really covers all the aspects I want such a review to cover!! And I think the whole "gradual upgrades" thing is partially (or even primarily?) a marketing strategy to give people "a reason to buy the (mostly-but-not-quite) same machine over and over again" - just like that's probably why their strokes are fixed. And the plastic cam is likely in part to keep manufacturing cheaper and simple where possible, as well as their idea of having "proprietary consumable parts" that keep small amounts of cash flowing in - without going down the (douchy) road of forcing proprietary cartridges (with 3 instead of 2 retaining lugs/tabs, or magnets, or smaller diameter) or disposable grips on people, like -for example- the "BlackGold Tattoo Systems - Magero" tries to do.
All in all FKirons are going in the right direction, and I'm definitely gonna buy one of their machines in a year or three. Whether that will be a flux or a spektra -or something else entirely- remains to be seen, though.
    Cheers!
