  • Make a High Voltage Capacitor using plastic bottle, aluminum foil, cardboard tube (from aluminum foil roll), wires, and safety pins. It's useful for Microwave Oven Transformers (single or dual) and I also find it to be a good alternative to saline capacitors.

My Mag Loop Antenna tuning capacitor problems are now solved by watching this vid.
I'll be able to add 100s of puffs for pennies instead of $100s for vacuum variables/etc.
It's the slitting of the plastic bottle that ties it all together.

Cut another old soda bottle to wrap two turns on the card tube for insulation before wrapping the foil. If you wrap foil directly to the surface of the cardboard, any moisture in the card or the glue that holds it together will cause a flash-over. Adding extra insulation will double the ability to withstand higher voltage.

@@taunteratwill1787 no, more plastic means lower capacitance, the capacity exponentially drops off with the gap between them, and it would be volts, capacitors store a voltage, amps is current, and you cannot store current, just voltage that can make current later. @@maddoctorwhitson Thanks for your video. Nikola Tesla did measure his capacitors and he knew exactly what he was doing. For example, the ones he made in Colorado Springs from champagne bottles were about 0.5 uF, if I remember correctly. He also tested the bottles of several suppliers and picked those which could withstand the highest voltage. Tesla worked in a very accurate and precise way, and that is why everything he described can be repeated now. BTW, this is his famous coil and the first stage of his _Perpetuum_ _mobile_ (the perpetual source of electricity aka free energy generator) that I've reproduced. It also produces atomic flame first described by Tesla, and sends energy to a completely insulated fluorescent lamp: ua-cam.com/video/X-LC4O2RnCM/v-deo.html . Enjoy.
      :)
In 1892, Nikola Tesla said that there's no need in power stations and wires, because the energy can be obtained everywhere, for free, as much as needed, unlimited, at any point in the Universe, and transmitted wirelessly. This is true. We are surrounded by the ocean of energy and everyone who wants and knows how can take it - any amount, for free, anytime, everywhere.
