We have a list of blogs who post their cruising costs on our blog in the right sidebar. While they are sailing blogs, the costs are similar except for fuel which is easy to figure out. They should still be helpful for you. Some points from our experience: you will definitely spend more time in marinas than you think so allow for that. Also, your idea for a good reserve in savings for the unexpected medical bill or maintenance issue is spot on. We almost never ate out but did find food was slightly more expensive because we didn't always have a choice on what store we could go to. Sometimes the only close store was the most expensive one. I think your total costs are in the ballpark but I think the categories will need some adjustment. You should be able to get boat insurance for less but your marina expenses will be more. Food looks good. Don't forget your annual Towboat US plan (seriously don't leave without it!!) And if you go to the Bahamas be sure to get a DAN medical evac policy. Very cheap and worth every penny. Just read your blog. Your husband is a very good writer! Brought me right into it. Also, nice to meet you both with the photos. I'm confused, however- did you purchase another boat? And, thumbs up on the DAN. We've used them for divers insurance while in the West Indies.

We sold the sailboat and are in the midst of looking for a trawler, hence your UA-cam channel for research.

Too many people in the world. Captain Cook didnt have all this problem. Theres Health insurance and health ensurance, boat insurance & boat ensurance. Yes Im just getting into too, got a steel yacht for 1k NZ. Going to use some of the roof to patch the bottom & get 2mm plate for roofing panels. I intended to ditch the yacht cookpit bit {has no sails anyway} and extened cabin as far back to give more room. Boat only 8.5 meters. Thinking to bring the cabin sides out to the outer hull & lift roof. I hear composting toilets are the way to go. Insurance - what a killer. For marina side of it no choice. But Id like to make it twin keel to beach it for working on. Yr good nav gear is ensurance. Better to use insurance as lest as pos & what you would intend to spend on insurance save for rainy day. Its a money grabbing world - I can se why - but at end of the day it says the worlds too ovrcroweded. Rather go chop down a tree - then have a bunch of people already camped saying you owe them - for breathing? PS - and basically walk over roof with steps at back to gt to the front.

I'm curious how you are going to handle your address and physical mail/shipments. Like for the social security admin, they want a physical address. Considered using my sister's address with her consent.
