  • We probably all have a person object type in Capacities, so here are some ideas for making the most of it. We'll see how networked note-taking and object types can work together to create an intuitive network of notes and connections that help you achieve what you need.

I absolutely love how Capacities always approach Content and Product (with Docs to Tutorials) with the aim of making onboarding process easier for even then non-techie users. I am learning so much about intuitive use cases and true utilization of Capacities features from Beth's personal account and Capacities UA-cam channel.
I am taking forward these lessons from the video and improving my workspace in Capacities:
☑ Memory Jog added to My Contacts
☑ link to Email Text added
☑ Location property added and connected to my Map object
☑ People Involved converted to text property (the provision of having temporary business contacts is so important, Thank you Beth)
☑ Country object added and AI with custom instruction swiftly recognizes the Country from the same Map object.
☑ Turn blocks into is super useful feature for bulk addition of entities to object. I will use it more often. Thank you
☑ Previously I had a single Wishlist tag but now I have added a separate Wish Basket object and group tags to categorize them with Query. Now it feels much more organized.
☑ Duplicating Queries will save time. I will use it more often.
Few questions that I wanted to ask while watching and taking actions on my system:
    1. if I use Collection as Categories instead of Tags, then what are the pros and cons? What would you recommend?
    2. Is there a way to convert a property from Select/Multi-select to Text? To change the "People Involved" to text I had to create a new property and delete the earlier multi-select as I couldn't find a way to convert it.
    3. When I tried adding Flag to the emoji of country, entering United or EU, UK, USA will just give me the Code as the Emoji and not the visual flag, is there way to fix this behavior?
    4. What do you typically do with the default TAG that is created when creating an object. Although we create properties like Category that are essentially linked to Tags, do we keep this default tag or remove it?
I have notice Query by Tag functions with the default tag and not the custom tag, custom tags are considered as properties.

    Great example, thanks.
Hi Beth, could you create a tutorial on how to set up a GTD system in Capacities, just like you did with PARA? It would be very helpful and a great example of how to use Capacities.
    Greetings from Mexico.

11:26 - The Anna scenario. If "People Involved" is associated with the Person object, entering a new name in that field should automatically associate it with the Person object. I think this would make the workflow more efficient. I often have to reference new people in a meeting while Im creating the note, and have to go back and clean it up after the meeting is over. I'll submit a feature request

Best Capacities video Yet. Nice work! Here is where I may need help. I have been creating content for about a month. I was making tags and object types and doing all sorts of stuff. But now I have a far greater idea of the concepts. Less object types! Less tags! More linking properties. Yes, I am starting to get it. But how can I fix my cluttered initial space? I know I can create a new space, but I can't import stuff from my messy space, right? Would you happen to have any tips on how to reorganize? Is there a way to open 2 Capacities and drag-n-drop or cut-n-paste? Thank you, Beth.

Thanks so much! Do you want to send me some screenshots of your set up to beth@capacities.io so I can offer so specific advice on fixing the space, or are you looking for more general tips?

Great Video Beth! I have an Article type, a Person type and an Organization type. An Article has a multi select property Authors that includes all the authors of the article, so it is linked to the Person type. However, some articles do not have an explicit author. They are published by a newspaper or journal, which are both of type Organization. Would you recommend an author property in the article that is a text property or two multi select properties „Author“ and „Publishers“ which link to Persons and to Organizations? I started with the latter approach, but that makes queries a bit more complex and actually does not add real new insights, since I know that NYT is a newspaper anyway. However it is nice to select from a set during input.

      Thanks so much!
If you've found the latter approach doesn't give you more insights then I would stick with a single text property. But do you ever reference NYT for anything other than the publisher of articles you read?

@@CapacitiesHQ NYT is not the best example here. I sometimes have organizations that publish articles but are referenced in various other places. For example European and German Goverment Agencies, that not only publish, but are also part of an overall legal framework (I have some MOCs about legal frameworks that reference these organizations and their responsibilities), have well-known politicians as their leaders (here I use the organization in an employer property) and then I have a "lobbies" property that I have associated to people and organizations. These links have definitely helped me in some discussions...
But thanks for your tip! I think it is actually more appropriate to use a text property. I very much appreciate your videos and am already looking forward for the next great ideas on how to use Capacities!
