Frame perfect idj with seph uair actually doesn't autocancel, so it's better to do it this way
Ye
Nice to know. Thanks you!
I mean it still might if you don’t fast fall it
Damn so you're not allowed to be too good
I also just press the jump button twice really fast. By far the easiest method for me.
I just start mashing jump until I see the circle thing
I have my 2nd jump as Z button lol
I like double jumping just yo evade stuff so frame perfect is helpfil
probably not instant tho
depending on your character this method is not good for tight combos, but it can work
This is actually super useful
Especially the information on all the variations of up air you can auto cancel
That's a whole lot of range you can cover!
i really do think this option opens up potential for new stuff for characters. coming from a falcon main who uses it in more way than one when the occasion comes, its a good thing to have in the arsenal
Thanks Nairo and team for this upload this is very helpful lol
Set your left bumper to jump and press it right before you press x or y or whatever normal jump button you normally use. If you practice you can actually get frame perfect idjs consistently.
Smarter not harder.
This is a great explanation. A lot of other content I saw on the topic went for some mystifying explanation of using two different jump buttons and there stuff. I'm sure those people were getting the jump closer the ground, but the reality is that this is good enough.
This helps me a lot, thanks Nairo. 🙏
Personally I use tap jump, so I first flick my stick up then press X. Then just direct the aireal in whatever direction I want.
Cringe
Fuck tap jump man
I guess?
mfs when they bash on you for your controls for absolutely no reason
@@pierreaoun9600 another tap jump cringe lord?
something that also makes it easier is if you buffer the first jump at the end of a move like a throw and do the aerial right before you buffer the 2nd jump during the move. raw idj is harder for sure
I'm a tap jump player, and I have been for years. It is actually INCREDIBLY easy for tap jumpers to do frame perfect idj's, Just up on the analog stick and press jump, you can ever buffer an idj short hop aerial frame perfectly
Nairo makes a great teacher.
What I do for an IDJ is that, with stick jump enabled, I flick the stick up and press the X button at the same time. Not the best way but its what I do....
It’s definitely the best way as a stick player too. I play Byleth a lot and down throw into idj with stick up and x+a makes the combo true so often and sometimes will get kills. Super reliable imo
tap jump O.o
Nickc likes to use stick jump for his IDJs too
Dude this huge. Thanks for sharing
I use four jump buttons. One on left trigger, one on right bumper, then x and y. I use the shoulder button along with x to do idjs and I've been consistent with them since day one cause of it. All those jump bottoms just allow me to use jump while simultaneously doing other things more comfortably. Like being able to use c stick while jumping and holding a direction all at the same time, and things like attack cancels are way easier
This is why Nairo is great
i do a half circle over the upper face buttons, basically sliding over y, x, and a to do an IDJ aerial.
more nairo advice lets gooo
i have tap jump on so what i do is tap up and X/Y at the same time to get an idj easily
Tap jump makes it super easy, especially for Falcon.
I think characters that use IDJ for combos may want a consistent frame perfect method, because otherwise it delays the aerial a bit which could make the combo not true? Great advice for Seph (I didn't even know he could autocancel his uair like that) or if you just want to catch an higher up opponent quicker though.
If you’re in lag from another move, like a throw or something, you can just mash jump and it’ll buffer frame perfect IDJ’s I think, so it’s more lenient during combos, it’s just doing raw IDJ’s that’s harder
Sephiroth s in particular is almost better as the slightly delayed Idj so it perfectly matches the auto cancel window. Also so you can fast fall like he shows here. Some other ones are more frame perfect. I play Ike and up throw Idj upair only works at very tight windows if a character has a frame 2 airdodge/frame 1 option
ngl didn't even know this was a thing but glad I randomly clicked this expecting a meme
IDJCZ for Lucas needs to be frame perfect to combo
I like my idjs to be frame perfect. Falcon's funkier combos need it. I press R (jump) and slide my finger from Y to A at the same time.
So you use 2 different jump bottons for an instant double jump? Is that better/easier than using one button?
Step 1: hit x (or whatever jump button)
Step 2: hit y immediately after
Step 3: profit
problem is you have to release X before pressing Y
so it's easier just to press X twice
@@djstu10 problem is when you have a jank control setup, and you have z and b set as jump
Jump button go brr
The one thing im having trouble with is ledge trumping. He says to just go left right or right left but the character sticks to edge 😔
All the sora mains...
What I do for me is (Y, Y+A) for a high jump one. A shorter one is (short jump Y, Y+A) but this one gotta be lil bit faster
Edit: the Y+A means you gotta press both buttons at the same time
Thank you bro! #bestseph 💯💯💯
yoo the corpse party music!
Nario, do you have a visual mod on your switch?
steve needs a perfect IDJ to do the up tilt block up tilt block up tilt up smash shenanigans
I have stick jump and bumper jump, I just press both. Easy peasy
Meta knight need frame perfect idj to do resets on ps2 platforms off of a single jump 😔
Im glad he's said something cuz nobody I've told how easy u can do have just ignore me
bro just hit x twice
Nice!
How do you “get the auto cancel” what’s canceling the landing lag
Auto cancels are a frame window at the start and end of aerials that let you cancel the landing lag if you time it right, different moves have different auto cancel windows, what Nairo is doing is falling at a specific time towards the end that the animation isnt done but you land without lag, that's it. If you want an easy one to try, try canceling the start of Ness or Diddy Kong Dair by fastfalling during the startup, that's an auto cancel window.
@@quarium5681 ah I gotcha thanks!
I just use tap jump and x at the same time
I do a lot of idj with falcon going into it before hand because of the buffer system makes the timing less strict to get the double jump off fast enough so basically pressing it sooner than you think you can chances are it’s still going to come out as an idj because of ultimates buffer system doing it while another move is ending gives you more time to press it again this might help somebody it helped me
Your comment was so hard to read without punctuation.
Punctuate. Please.
I didn’t know this was an essay and no
Lmao just mash
if you have trigger jump on a pro controller you should be pressing jump with your middle finger (it's better for your hand) and if you do that you can kind of slip the finger off the bottom edge of the trigger and immediately press it again with your index finger.
this might not be for everybody but it's by far the easiest method I've worked out as it's a single motion with two fingers of the same hand and you don't have to train yourself to have the right timing between multiple inputs, just the right speed for a single input
Kazuya has that 7 frame jumpsquat, so timing a idj is super easy
how is he autocancelling up air?
I can’t believe I can’t just set 2 buttons to jump and press them right after each other. my peanut brain can’t handle the double press
But you can
you might end up getting short hops if you dont time it right though.
You can trust me you just gotta get used to it
You can, the trick is to let go of the first button before pressing the other one. Otherwise you'll get a short hop
What aerial is he using to cancel at 1:45?
I need to know this too. So after Nairo full hops and fast falls, what is he auto-cancelling with?
@@marklabs4612 I watched in 0.25 speed and there is no back air right at landing. I think he just jumps at the exact time he lands.
@@danielgz8497 got it, so press jump twice quickly, up air, fast fall, then press jump as soon as you hit the ground?
@@marklabs4612 yeah, but only fast fall when you done 2 full jumps and then up air. If you do instant doble jump and then fast fall idk if you can still land with another jump before lag landing happens. Maybe with the wing is possible.
I still have problems instant rar'ing, which I need for Wolf's fair > bair at mid percents lol
It's just a training mode practice kinda thing. Just keep at it and if your playing online use the time in-between matches to practice too. Just like try doing short hops and turning around every hop
I don’t understand why idj is so hard for people; I’ve been doing it since before it was even “discovered”. I guess most people don’t use stick jump, huh…
Its because stick jump is god awful for a lot of characters. It is way easier to misinput moves with stick jump on. Most if not all top players turn off stick jump.
@@hi-mx8xk for me, using the stick and then immediately using x or y is easiest for idj. I’ve never understood why stick jump is bad though; the only downside I have is that it’s harder to up-b without using a double jump but that doesn’t come up very often.
How does one auto cancel?
Dang, I didn't know you are a Y jumper....this changes things...
He isn't. He uses Up to jump afaik but obviously idj is vastly easier to do with a button so he probably switches
@@damiancarr168 k
He uses default controls for everyone outside of a few characters including Sephiroth where he goes tilt stick
Don’t roast me, but why is instant double jump useful
Combo routes and coverage for some characters that would not be possible without the positioning an idj grants you.
What is the point of this? I'm too much of a casual to know why you'd want this
IDJ aerials are faster than full hop aerials
