    Thought I would add an update,,,,,,,,,,at a little over 5 years I had now put 1027 hours on my 914 experimental Cavalon and upgraded to the 915 Cavalon and this is a significant step up. The basic machine is almost the same inside and outside as my 914 but the extra power and the larger rotor are a plus. The Garmin G3X is a little more than needed in this aircraft but a nice piece of equipment I am still learning many things about. I put about 125 hours on the 915 in 2022 and so far so good only a few minor issues had to be sorted out but it flies great and I am having a good time with it. I would like to say that I took the time to go down to Baybridge and get a few hours of transition training in this aircraft and although I had over a 1000 hrs. in a short time in the 914 I welcomed the additional instruction from Bob to point out the different aspects of the 915 and as with any aircraft you should take the time and get the proper training. The people at Autogyro have always treated me right and I enjoy working with them. Fly safe and fly often.

    Good video Bob hope to get down to Baybridge to test fly the 915 this summer and see just how much difference there is from my 914. I now have over 825 hours on my Cavalon in about 3 1/2 years and love it more every time I fly and at this point have taken well over 200 people for their first gyro ride and everyone gets out just like I did on my first trip with that big gyrocopter grin on their face. Thank you to all the crew at Autogyro USA in Maryland for helping to make that happen. Hope to see all of you soon. Ron and Brenda / Cavalon 914RB

    I was a huey gunner during vietnam. before my tour in hell, i rode left seat for fcf out of phase. i was well liked by the pilots and they all gave me plenty of stick time. never could hold a hover. i have been looking at gyros. i suspect after January 20 there won’t be very much luxury money floating around.

    Love watching autogyros in motion. One thing I've noticed is that the sticks seem to shake horribly. Is this a sign of some imbalance in the mechanism?

    • @bocfat
      @bocfat 2 роки тому +1

      I watched one video where the pilot trainer said he was going to make adjustments to get nearly all the shake out, the trainee asked what and how the trainer said oh not now when we get back to the hanger, with that in mind it seems every video shows some shake in the stick

    • @lebojay
      @lebojay Рік тому

      Due to the natural flapping of the rotor blades, the shake can never be completely eliminated. There are videos on things you can do to minimize it.
      Rotor aerodynamics is fascinating stuff. Blade flapping, lift dissymmetry, mast bumping… It’s all on UA-cam.

    I’m really interested in the Cavalon. I flew helo’s in the military and now hold a Comm/IFR rating. I’ve owned a CTLS LSA and currently fly a Malibu. My one big question is the stick shake? I tracked and balanced our units helo’s and wasn’t happy until it was smooth. Other than that issue, I’m ready to come over to the facility to get my certification and possibly help in the build process. Thanks for the great video.

      Hello Patrick I own a 914 Cavalon that I built in 2016 and regarding the stick shake,,,,,,,mine has been balanced several time and you will find some days the stick shake is greater than others,,,,,,,I have days when it is next to nothing at all,,,,,,,it will change with the loading of the aircraft, density altitude and other factors. I have learned to fly the aircraft and enjoy it. The first 2 years I put 300 hrs. each year on this aircraft but due to other commitments I now have only 935 hours at 4 years. I have taken over 300 passengers for their first gyro flight and love this machine more every time I fly it. I am looking at some point to hopefully upgrade to the new certified 915 but have not yet been able to fly one at Baybridge,,,,,I have been down there several times but no machine available to test fly. I live in northeast pa. and fly this aircraft year round. I have a friend that was a huey crew chief in vietnam and he said the best tracked and balanced units were not always the best performing aircraft,,,,,not that it didn't help but they learned to patch things together to make it through. I have a fixed wing rating and some solo heli time and I would like to get back soon to finish my heli ticket and really want to get a few hours in a huey. I am not ex military but thank you from the bottom of my heart to every one of you that have helped keep us safe and free.

      Gyro Pilot...... the actual thrust line goes through the center of pressure or CG which makes the Cavalon very stable. We've double hang tested mine several times and it's almost neutral thrustline.
