    I discovered Moe in February of ‘94. In my search for new clubs I found Natural Golf, Jack Kuykendall (kerkendoll), and of course “Pipeline Moe” Norman. I took to it to the effect of dropping a 30 year old 20 handicap to a 12 in six months and acquiring an invitation to teach this “new” golf swing. 29 years later I’m still teaching and learning about the greatest game ever created.
    No one can strike a golf ball effectively in any position other than a single plane. That is to say that the right forearm must be in the same plane as the club shaft in order to complete an effective golf swing. In all the video examples of the swings that you show in this video that you say are not a single plane, note that the right forearm has moved into the same plane as the shaft, proving that no one can strike a golf ball effectively in any other position.

    Your summary at the end of what is important . . .setup distance and stay off your toes. . .that is pretty spot on in my very humble opinion.

    Really enjoying your content as a Canadian, especially on Moe Norman and the supposed one plane swing. I was as a new golfer when smitten by Moe Norman and his ability to strike the ball as straight and purely as he did. I went all in on Natural Golf bought the book by Peter Fox ,videos and even the Natural Golf clubs. ( two sets, the originals from his time with Jack Kuykendal and then later a more modern set from the Natural Golf Company) . My uncle from Ontario knew Moe Norman and told me Moe's ball striking was otherworldly and it was very unorthodox swing, but very effective. Long story short I did use this method for two full years and it was very accurate but I was missing something that effectively cut my distance down and eventually went back to a more conventional swing. Your video on the gravity drop may have been that missing link, thanks from a new Subscriber from Nova Scotia..! MikeR.

    There is no other sport in which you overlap your hands. Not in tennis, baseball, cricket, nor hockey. As I am sure you know, Harry Vardon wanted to minimize his right hand - which for most golfers is the dominant and stronger hand - to keep the hook out. Now we see high-handicappers using the overlap grip and then complaining about slicing the ball and not having enough distance - which in my view is because of the overlapping grip. I am 62 years old and 5'5", 140 lbs. I hit the ball farther than most people 20 years younger and nearly a foot taller because I use every muscle fiber in my right arm to hit the ball which they don't. I played with the interlock grip when I was younger (and I too don't know why the book "Swing Like a Pro" says it is a most difficult grip) but with age, I started developing arthritis and now I can only play with the 10-finger grip. Thanks for a great and informative video. Thanks for your myth-busting efforts.

    i wonder if scheffler tried to cure his back foot slide if he would end up more in a classic 2 plane swing?..
    The beauty of moe’s swing is nothing is forced, everything including hands were designed to operate at the most easiest because of efficiency.

    Everybody's hands are different - small, big, medium, fat, thin, lean, crooked, banana shaped whatever. Whichever grip you choose should be what works for you and not what the text books say. In fact, there is no such thing as a "text book grip, or especially a text book swing - if there was, who would they model it on? All pro's have swings that are unique to them which is hardly surprising given that we're all different.
    In my case, I used the Vardon grip pretty successfully for decades, but now, in my senior years, I have adopted the "baseball" grip because now my smaller fingers need a better connection with the club so to speak. I am striking the ball pretty good again. Never had any success with the interlocking grip since I started golf though.

    Moe Norman's swing style has changed my game for the better when driving off the tee. In fact, I bought my set of clubs in March of this year and was using a 6 iron off the tee because anything longer I would slice. After a couple months of frustration I came across Moe Norman and Todd Graves videos and now I consistently hit my driver straight down the fairway. My first game in March I shot a 110 and after about 3-4 months of practicing the "single plane swing", I just broke 90 a couple weeks ago.
    Jack Kuykendall says its a scam, but it didn't cost me anything since Todd teaches it on youtube for free. Also regardless of the semantics over Moe Norman being on plane or not is irrelevant. People need to realize Moe was a great ball striker not because of his swing, but because he practiced hitting 500 - 800 balls a day!
    I've yet to find a swing or training aid that makes you hit the ball perfect every time... Practicing whatever swing your choose on a regular basis makes you a better ball striker.

    I would like to see you do a review or analysis of the swing coach jim venetos swing i think you would find it interesting

    • @theamateurgolfersdilemma72
      @theamateurgolfersdilemma72  Рік тому +1

      EA Tischler refers to what Venetos teaches as a Front Anchor swing, similar conceptually to stack and tilt, which works great for front anchor golfers. But if your body's movement preference, which is innate to your body, is to swing from a rear anchor position, which involves an obvious weight shift, then Venetos' recommendations and the stack and tilt approach would be a disaster. You should check out EA Tischler's work - probably the most detailed approach to identifying multiple movement patterns and applying the swing movement accordingly. Another example...should your backswing look like upright like Furyk or flat like Kutcher? Maybe one or the other or neither, or somewhere in between because its based on our individual biology.

      @theamateurgolfersdilemma72 excellent thanks for that information ill definitely look into that as I've had some decent success with his swing went from never playing golf to shooting in the mid 80s in a bit less then 2 years and I'm fairly older at 34 years old but I like to look deeper into why things work the way they do I love jim but he's more of a just do what I do and it works with out going into great detail. and it does work mostly but I wanna know the specifics behind the mechanics

    Moe Norman was paid to DEMO the "Natural Golf Swing" that is where the ten finger palm grip comes from. Knowing a former "Natural Golf" instructor that worked on several DEMO sessions with Moe (and Todd Graves) he will tell you Moe did not use a palm grip during his playing days.

    Scientific method for determining the best grip? Since everyone's hands are different, that is not possible. What works best is the best grip for any individual player. Everyone has 8 fingers and two thumbs, but wrist flexibility and joint angles, and finger diameter, palm size make that question impossible to answer. Whatever produces the best results for you is your best grip.

    No twisting, Moe's own words His grip regardless of which one, purpose was no twisting, his words. Perhaps why going to split hand palm grip didn't hurt ball striking. Perhaps More was just pounding the hell out of the ball with his right arm, hand and no twisting. Explains the drop if you ask me. Completely right sided golf swing controlled by the right arm and hand
