Hi there, I still absolutely love the G1. I work from home three days a week, and the other two, I go into the office. I take it with me and connect it to a monitor. I plug in my mouse and keyboard and im good to go. I took it on vacation last weekend as well. my nephew thought it was super cool. In the grand scheme of things, I use it far less than the 4090. Im ok with that, though. It's so compact, sleek, stylish, and professional looking. Im not sure if I could give it up. You plan to get one? If so, what would be your use case?

Nice, lots of good folks in that group. It is funny you should mention Adobe. After doing some research, I have heard that adobe is better optimized to work with Intel chips and NVIDIA GPU's. So in short, the WM2 With the G1 is less of a deciding factor with your use case. I am sure it will still work with AMD but I wouldn't chance it unless you don't mind having a janky experience. You're going to love that combination. You'll also like that the Mini is cooler to the touch since there is less power coming from the internal 780m gpu. Most of the power is coming from the G1
The biggest difference is that there is a switch that allows you to change the power delivery from 60watts to 100watts. Running games at 60, the G1 is very quiet. At 100, it ramps up and becomes louder. But there is a significant increase in performance. The 2023 version can be switched as well, but if I'm not mistaken, you need to do this adjustment in the Bios.

Im curious, its been a month or so now since u published this video, have new drivers become available since? Or still the same so-so ish drivers u mention in the video? Thanks
Hey, thanks for tuning back in. Yes, a new driver came out last week. Unfortunately, I don't see any difference. I guess that is a good thing. It certainly didn't create new issues. Many of the issues I encounter with the Win Min 7840u with the G1 has to do with the portrait display. Nothing earth shattering. Just like some older games don't scale well. Or, the drivers, depending on the game, won't remember the resolution that you had set last time you played the game. The 2024 that has native landscape display. I'm sure it does better with Amd drivers. Overall I worked out all the kinks, and the G1 has been flawless!
@@Slyclientthetechdad ya I'm actually going back and forth between deciding on the new mini or the oculink one, I just purchased the onexgpu and it came today but I haven't set it up yet or anything. I'm doing a lot of zen-like meditating and self reflection on my win mini decision making issue 🤣, it really is such a tough decision, I wish they would've just kept the ocu on the new one cuz if u get an egpu u do so wanting to max out the performance it can provide and achieve and feels like a waste to limit it to just usb4 connection 😮💨 first world problems can be tough sometimes 🥴🤣
@According2AshShow I hear ya. Personally, I refused to buy the new Mini since they did away with the Oculink and pre ordered the 2024 Win Max 2 instead. I just made a new video discussion the topic. I will be posted tomorrow morning. If your intend is to max out the mini, there is no way in hell you should get the 2024. I'd rather have slightly less handheld performance and better docked performance any day. First world problems is right. LoL Keep me posted on what you decide to do. I'm super curious!

Yes, you certainly can. As long as the Surface Pro 9 has a thunderbolt 3 or 4 port. Keep in mind that this is a mid tier EGPU and the 6700XT is supported by Adobe. There are certainly better options depending on your workload, but you can certainly use it for Adobe and video editing. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Glad you love it. I have had mine (original version) since Nov 23. I use it with a laptop via Thunderbolt so I can game when I'm away from home. I definitely support stopping benchmarking and just playing, though it's a struggle :)
