So good to see Jimmie getting the appreciation and applause that he for too long didn't get. He has backed some of the most famous singers ever, and deserves all the accolade he has.
James is one of the most underrated guitarist to have ever picked up the instrument. String gauges were invented because of his collaboration with Ernie Ball. He was the first to change his strings to banjo strings when guitars used a wound G. Truly a great player! Congrats and all the best!
James Burton underrated? He's a legend and always gets his well deserved accolades from the music world. He's always on nearly every greatest and most influential guitar players list
@@RedDirtRules He is to us, but with several newer generations he's not thought of much. Also James' contributions to guitar playing, (he helped inspire lighter strings by the way he strung his guitars, aren't spoken about much to the best of my knowledge.
James Burton has backed among others , Elvis , Roy Orbison and Ricky Nelson , so i don't understand people who say he was underated , he's a true living guitar legend .
James Burton logicoben sus tiempos un buen guitarrista acompañante del Rey pero no pretendamos ser los mismos con la edad no deja de ser un buen profesional pero loa años no perdonan a nadie lo queramos crer o no
I long for the day when old time bass players come back in style . I'm tired of these guys who act as if they are play twin lead with the lead player .
Earls Pearl I'm interested to know what classifies a bass player as "old time"? Could you give a few examples of players that you would put in that category? I don't really see what you are talking about as a "twin lead" player in the video. I think the bass player serves his purpose, taking care of the low end, and doesn't really seem to go outside that boundary.
Oh - cmon - there were times around the 80s when that actually happened. During that period many bass players refused to care for the bass tones of harmonies. Additionally they had a very mid-rangy sound. They were driving me crazy .... I once saw Stanley Clarke and he could have needed a real bass player besides him - it was unbelievable. But ok - times are changing and most today´s bass players know their part and sound.

He is a kind person also. A rare combination of brilliance and humbleness. His sound is amazing.
